I put up a thread for what puts you off a car, so thought it would be good to see what turns you on to a car, for me there are two main things 1, a low seating position and high transmission tunnel so you feel properly in a car and not sat on top, 2, anything weird, does it have two, cylinders in line then the last two in a V? I will have one of those, have the instruments been placed by inserting into a cannon and firing and the dashboard? Yup, one of those as well please. And if it has loads of gauges then I'm also in, a gauge for annual rainfall in Botswana? Yes please!

If it's a nice blue I will have it, or maybe green red yellow black purple orange you get the picture.

I love single wipers or the ones on Mercs where they 'jump' and door mirrors  bought my CX because of the funky door mirrors! In fact, I used to really like a lot of old Citroens because of their weird switchgear/clocks, when they went 'normal' I lost interest.

I love multi-cylinder engines (the more the merrier) and wankels and 2 strokes, anything that sounds good.

I like door handles that are odd but dislike big clunky old fashioned things like the BGBM has. But, I love the older RR locks (Yale) where they look like something that should be locking your house.

Headlight wipers are for winners, that's a fact no one can deny :)

I like cars to be a colour, the main reason I just bought my new work Merc is because it's brown not black or silver of course when I looked at it , I was all " Oh no, I thought it was black in the pictures, I could never buy a car in such a horrible colour" just to start price negotiations off on the right foot.

High seating position.

Flat floor.

Straight Six engine.

Air cooled.

Already I have painted myself into a corner where I can never have what I want. Which is why I keep buying cars I don't like and then can't wait to be rid of.

If you'd go for flat rather than straight 6, a Porsche B32 would do you down to the ground. There were only about 20 though, so unlikely to find one on Gumtree. Very easy ,if expensive, to make your own though.

The cars that I thought were ace when I was a kid and didn't know much about cars.

Big adjustable headrests on the back seat. Don't know why as I never sit in the back!! Probably because it reminds me of my mums Granada when I was a lad!

Wood trim.

I know that most people find it looks cheap and tacky, but I like it more than the grey masses of plastic you tend to get in cars without it. It doesn't matter if it is fake wood, just something to inject a bit of colour.

I just must have a centre arm rest where the handbrake sits. An absolute must.

I also like a digital clock inlaid in faux walnut. Timeless class.

Beige or cream interiors swing it for me.   Cow trousers or PE teacher's end of term sports jacket material, it doesn't matter.   As long as none if it is bloody blue.

I also like gun-sights on the bonnet (but only if they are meant to be there....)

Can I afford to buy it - Yes?

Can I afford to put fuel in it - Yes?

Then I'm all ears generally!

'Interesting' colour combinations for exterior/interior.

Cars that someone paid through the nose and are now silly cheap.

Convertibles.

The greater the cubic capacity/number of cylinders the better.

That explains so why you like capris then, you'd get moist if you sat in a new mustang as well

I like a lot of cars so there are loads of things.

Red. I like red. I also like other colours. But fast cars should be red. Red cars should be fast. Please take note, Senor Arrivabene.

Loud exhausts. I once bought a 2.5k car blind because the seller said "the exhaust is far, far too loud". That'll be perfect then, thanks. And it IS!

Seats that recline and lower down. I'm not that tall, only 6ft, but I like sitting down low. Because Racecar. That's why I like my BMW E39 diesel. Auto. Not because Racecar, because the seat goes down. And why I can't abide 3 serieses.

Powr. I drove plenty of 50-60 bhp cars when I was younger, no time for that now. Places to be. So a minimum of 200 now thanks. Unless its a 70bhp Fiat Regata, which is OK. Or a 46bhp Skoda, but that's also ok, because it's bright Orange.

And a working heater, always essential in rural Ireland.

Cheap, usually.

Better still, broken and cheaper so I can enjoy* time getting it up to scratch. Must be a good buy though.......

An arm rest on the seat is a must . I also like a rear spoiler . Although that's probably code for something in some households.
