Hi folks,

I happened upon this advert posted only on Monday for a laid - up Princess in the West Mids, apparently going free, but you'll need a trailer! Anybody on here fancy giving it a bash?

I can help recover it bit I don't have a trailer. Red5/DodgyTom/CatsInTheWelder might be able to help.

I can go and probably cast an eye over it if needs be.

Looks pretty solid under all that gunk. Must be a quick house sale to shift it for nowt, could be a real earner with just a quick wash alone.

That's quite a rare colour for a Princess, especially with the blue underdash and centre console.  It will probably have black vinyl C pillars but if they are blue then that may well be unique. Being a series 1 that will have the B series engine rather than the O so getting parts and making it run is going to be easy.  Looking at the (very small) photos it looks in fair condition with signs it needs work in the usual places.  Difficult to tell what condition the suspension is going to be in as it looks to be on the bumpstops so a case of pumping it up to find out.

I'd love to rescue it, I really would, I just can't see how I could make it happen.

I do like the look of that and if only I could be sure I will live to 145 years old I would add it to my cars awaiting restoration!

Edit - I have emailed and will try to collect and save it if I can.

Looks solid but you never know, could have been garaged up because it was rotten in 1990. Well worth a save though even if it keeps another car on the road - must be loads of rare parts

Looks less rusty than a ten year old Trasnit. Billy bargain.

There are ships at the bottom of the Atlantic which haven't seen the surface in a century that are less rusty than a 10 year old Transit, sure the bar should be set slightly higher...

Would be a long trip for a pair of calipers. *runs!*

You and me both!  Sadly, even going halves I doubt we could grab it, but it's nice to dream...

why oh why are these things always miles from home?

so few ADO71's are left now that all the remaining survivors are important,

i so hope that it finds (has found?) a new home and that it will get a chance to live again,

i'd even be prepared to put up some cash-monies in a fund for it too.

and for someone from yorkshire that is REALLY saying something.

That looks im great condition, it seems that its found a new owner though, anyone on here?

Does anybody else get this weird, cool feeling of calm and relief when somebody else buys the car in question, and your stress over the logistics and being murdered by SWMBO just evaporate?

Loads of people asked about it and very few got a reply as it seems potential owners were 'vetted' before a choice was made. It now has a new owner who intends to use it as a daily runner. Look out for the not enough time, change in circumstances or abandoned project advert soon...

That seems a bit much, considering that the vendor had just left it in a shed for a quarter century! However, I tend to find that you're either considered in the club, or not. In fairness though, somebody would have given him £250 for this all day long, I'm quite sure, so maybe they wanted to avoid somebody simply cashing in with a barn-find tale on carandclassic in a couple of months

I can in a way see why they vetted people, as it stands every chance of being banger raced when it's offered to anyone. Don't know why though, it would fold up in a second if someone followed it into the Armco in something like an old Vectra/Mondeo etc

Bollocks why are interesting things like that always so far away and i never see them in time either? Still another project i need like a hole in the head!

I'm intrigued by the idea of a "chicken coupe"...

That building has two doors and a sloping roof so I guess it must be a coupe :)

Well it was for sale in March for £250 but the seller never responded to enquiries and now it has to be moved, hence why it was offered for free.
