I liked my parent's coupe in iridis blue ( lilac!) . Drove nicely and was comfortable but the engine blue up at about 55k a- head gasket.

That was a 1.4 petrol.

Can you still buy the air freshener pods for them?

If so, buy it.

I believe Dugong is Da Man when it comes to these fabulous conveyances.

He loves them and used to frequently sing their praises on here, particularly when it came to headlamp bulb replacement, which I recall being a job to savour.

My C4 VTS 2.0 Pez has been great, reached over 180000 miles and no trouble up to last Feb when it was crashed into while parked and written off. I had it fixed as I like it so much but since then I've had some problems which I can't help thinking are because of the crash.

I love how they look both inside and out as they're like nothing else, pretty weird looking really. Inside you get the fixed hub steering wheel that works really well and impresses passengers and the large digital speedo that shows up clearly in any light conditions. To me it's proper Citroen design. I like it more than my V6 XM (runs and hides!)

Air fresheners are about £.50 a go at ccc meetings.

In reply to above posts.

My Lexia/Diagbox is so slow as to be almost unusable.

I snapped off the air freshener thing and threw it away as I hate my car smelling.

And wheel bearings.  And brake discs.

My dad said it had the most recalls of any car he's had. Electrically the main problem was the cruise control- it had four switches under warranty. The front screen cracked overnight- a known fault at the time and the bonnet was replaced at 12 months old because of corrosion under the paint.

I love the look, but I think not yet cheap or old enough to deal with the pain?

This one sold for 175 quid earlier today.  Bit battered and with a bad oil leak but running with plenty of test.

The best thing is the (digital) tacho lights up red at the red line!

Fair play, I'd have been all over that at that price.

You have to ask if a froggy car is a bad idea? Of course it is, but this being AS means you now HAVE to buy several.

What was that film where Michael Keaton builds fiat regata's for a Japanese company in America? I think Citroen made these in the same place.

I wike yoo. Yoo make me raff.

I looked into getting one a few years back and the advice I saw at the time was that most are Ok but there were quite a few 'Friday afternoon' cars about which were endless trouble, although in theory most of those should either have gone or been sorted by now.

Most problems with C4s these days are the ones that have fallen prey to lack of maintenance because their regarded as a 'Cheap old Citroën' In truthfulness theres nothing really to frighten you issue wise that any other car approaching a decade will have. The big failing on the 3 doors were hinges and check straps on the large and heavy doors that weren't man enough for the job, there was a recall but that didn't really fully address it. Glove box lids are a consumable item. If you go for a 1.4 or 1.6 petrol it's the well proven 8 v or 16v tu based units and they'll run forever if looked after. We all know about the 1.6 hdi problems and their best avoided. Get one that's been well looked after and there should be no real issues. An abused one could prove otherwise.

The VTS version looks like a lot of fun and a bit of a Q-car. Probably hens teeth nowadays though.

They're not quick, believe me. That torqueless EW lump has a lot of weight to drag along.

Work OK in a 206 GTi 180, though.

They seems as dull as any new car to drive but the mad steering wheel, digi dash and dormer extension rear end put them a cut above the normal mediocre shite for me.
