Things I was worrying about at 4am:

Haven't packed a petrol can.

Have lost my towing pole, need to get one.

BMW or Discovery for towing? (A proper shiter would take the VX 2300.)

What if I fail to rent a trailer?

Bet the seller's lost the V5.

Where's the VIN plate on a Rancho?

What can I delete off my phone if the memory is too full for pictures?

How do you make new sills?

Indeed. There looks to be enough room on the grass for for the two Ranchos from Goldies Boutique too. You could even invite the lady herself over.

In fact, you're already balls-deep in win but if you get a photo of her spreadeagled across the bonnet of your SD1 you would need armbands and a snorkel to avoid drowning in win.

I would also advise thoroughly disinfecting everything she touches afterwards.

Sorry for the radio silence, I'm alright, I just fainted slightly BECAUSE RANCHO.

 

 

Rust report:

The sills are very frilly but there are some NOS inners and outers in the boot.

 

The floor pan looks ok. Rear suspension mounts and lower A-pillars, hmm not sure.

 

The driver's door is rather bubbly, but there's a replacement (in red).

 

Elsewhere:

There are holes where the wing mounted spotlights used to be...but there are two spotlights in a box One is yellow, for maximum Frenchness.

 

No sign of cracking round the upper tailgate hinges.

 

It runs and drives! Doesn't even sound very tappety, which is crazy for a Simca. My magic booster pack and a squirt of EasyStart were all it took.

 

The interior is a bit grubby but all there and not torn. Mmmm tartan seats.

 

It's only done 62k, backed up by MOTs.

 

And best news of all, it's officially ours.

Usually when somebody on here buys such an ace conveyance I am, somewhat selfishly, more excited for myself than anything as I get to experience much vicarious enjoyment but in this case I am genuinely more excited for you Martin.
