For Sale 1999 T BMW E38 728i Glasgow

Facelift 1999 728i. Silver with black leather. 160000 miles.

Wee bits of cosmetic surface rust here and there.

Runs and drives fine. Would benefit from track rod ends/arms, but I'm breaking a 735i and anyone who buys this can have whatever they want off the breaker. Everything appears to work well.

Original bill of sale showing £38000 cost in 1999.

Cracking cheap luxobarge.

MoT till Feb 2017.

£500.

Will raffle if sufficient interest. Tickets £500 each. Only one left.post-18224-0-16957400-1462493941_thumb.jpgpost-18224-0-49818200-1462494004_thumb.jpgpost-18224-0-08915400-1462494051_thumb.jpgpost-18224-0-36139000-1462494095_thumb.jpg

Ohhhh

Proper wank material.

Very nice. This could be my roffle cherry.

I think this is great and if I did not already have am E32 and a parking problem, Milton keynes to Glasgow is an easy run on a train!

Don't under sell it, according to the vehicle enquiry it has MOT to Feb 2017 not 2016 listed.

I'd have two tickets on a roffle for that thing, easily.

Cracking motor. Maybe t'other Harris should go for it too? :-D

Thanks for pointing out the schoolboy MoT error. Not really contemplating a raffle. It came here cheaply. It can go cheaply. I used it last night because it arrived with half a tank of fuel - which if you know E38s is a really, really good sign, and not anything to do with the cost of fuel or fuel consumption.

It's a bonus if a cheap E38 can hold half a tank of fuel. The 735i can't. E38s get scrapped because of the cost and availability of fuel tanks. This one appears good.

If it doesn't sell, I'll fix the suspension and the drivers dropglass - which doesn't drop - and use it till the MoT runs out.

For anyone concerned about fuel consumption, or just plain curious, I get around 17-20mpg when driving to work (I'm generally running late!), 29 mpg on the motorway if I'm in a hurry, and over 36mpg when I'm not.

I am feeling grateful that mine is totally rust-free though - fuel tanks are bloody expensive when available, and rarely available. Only about to tick over to 80k too, and hasn't had so much as an advisory since I got it on the MOT! Sadly, the paintwork on the drivers' side leaves a lot to be desired and I need to replace the OS doors for cosmetic reasons, but I love mine, I'll keep him for as long as possible.

Good luck with the sale, £500 is an absolute steal!

Love my E38, and would recommend these cars to anyone.

This also has the TV screen, so possibly SAT NAV installed.

Miracles of miracles the centre ashtray stays closed, the catch fails quite frequently.

Lovely cars and handle really well, for such a big old bus.

Might even have a punt at a ticket myself if thats the route you go.

Cheers

I'm away with work this weekend, hopefully someone will have bought this before I come back...

Old school Nav installed and working.

Air con works. It's bloody freezing in here.

I'm not raffling it.

I've two 735is. One needs a gearbox and a window regulator - could do with a set of wheels - but has loads of good new parts like brakes suspension and fuel tank. One has a great engine and box, good wheels and window regulator, but needs a tank, suspension and brakes.

I thought I was sorted E38 wise until this bloody thing turned up yesterday.

I might entertain offers for the 735i Airfix kit too.

I'll swap you a hoover for it!

T reg is a bit modern for you, isn't it? :P

Shit me. If I had £500 spare, it'd be in the palm of your hands. Sadly, I've too many cars so time for a fleet reduction I think.

Good luck with sale.

Fleet reduction does mean buying more cars, you know this yes??

E38 7-Series is the correct size of car.

There are people who think they can get away with driving something smaller, but these people are wrong and need re-education.

So close to booking a flight for tomorrow and coming to get it

I don't suppose you've managed to have a look under it to make a judgement on its ability to hold a FULL tank of fuel?

Posted

No. But I've been driving it the last couple of days.

It has a bad wobble/vibration/knocking from the n/s/f. Sounds like a wheel bearing and bush/ball joint/arm.

The driver's door window won't go down and it makes a lot of noise like a broken cable maybe.

The bonnet won't open.

Other than that it appears pretty good, but I've not had a look underneath.

To be honest, if I do, and it looks OK, I'll probably sacrifice one or both of the 735is to get this up to scratch and keep it a bit.

Woof! That's a honey for that money. Someone (or more likely a few folk) has lost an absolute shed load over the years on that.

Been running about in this the past few weeks. Got the bonnet opening, put a couple of bushes and a bottom arm on it. I've a rear spring to go on and I'll fix the drivers drop glass. Still going well. Still MoTd till 2017.

Still for sale.

If I had a spare £500 I'd be seriously interested. After using the Camry the other weekend I think I need another barge to waft around in.

These are truly gorgeous, it won't be long before we are all beating ourselves up for not getting one when they were £500 when practical classics do a buyers guide with them at 8k plus. I still hate the fact I turned down a 635csi for £1500, it was the wrong car at the time.

As a Rover fan I obviously HAT everything about BMW with a passion. But even I would smash this.

You're right. I'll get another one (in fact I already have another two). They're even quite good looking.

Suprised it's still here. Not tried putting it on scumtree or similar? I imagine the Demon Shine and No Servicing Brigade would bite your arm off for £500.
