Scrappage scheme cars

Those cars that were sold (2000 quid off wasn't it ? ) cheaper ... are they cheaper secondhand than ones sold out of the scheme ? Just curious...

No, though it was Fiestas, Corsas, i10s etc mainly that sell in the millions anyway and don't hold their values well.

One of my mates has just traded in his scrappage bought i10 (it was only a mk4 Fester that got bridged) for a brand new Bini. I rather liked his i10, I wish I'd known as I'd have had it!

Here, nobody remembers exactly when the scrappage scheme was, so there is no difference in value too.

Plus the scrappage scheme prices were almost identical to what a dealer will knock off most family cars just by buying a run of the mill spec in an average colour.

I hope the earth passes through the tail of a rogue comet and those cars sitting in that airfield come back to life and run down all the nobbers, a la 'Cars that Ate Paris' who devised the scrappage scheme.

Kia Picantos on 09/59 plates still change hands for strong money and they were a scrappage favourite

I scrappaged a 306 cabriolet for a Kia Rio. Just simple economics - you could trade anything in. I traded a £900 car for a £2000 discount.

How is the Rio? I had a 10 plate that was an utter fucking lemon

Saved my life in a rather large accident so can't complain too much but it was dire

There was an oddball Spanish? animated TV thing years ago in which that kinda scenario (minus the cars) occurred.

...and I'd happily work at a filling station filling them all up with petrol again to help them in their quest for revenge, with AC/DC's 'Hells Bells' omnipresent in the atmosphere.

I have no idea! The 306 couldn't take the kids sports gear (and them too) so she bought the (10 plate) Rio for £6500 after scrappage, two years later on a whim we traded it for a Grand Vitara the same age. No bother at all, I always felt it drove like my old Rover 25 (so I suppose it was dire!). From memory got £5500 trade in, so it cost a grand and a 306 for 24 months of foolproof turn the key motoring for the price of a sky package a month....

Can't complain at all at that - mine needed a gearbox rebuild (twice because the dealer fucked it up) at 27000 miles

Ouch. As main dealers go, I found Kia pretty good really, never promised the earth just did what they promised.

/\ Did you read the last post though?

Quote [A tea leaf]

Visited recently and not a single classic car or rust box. Only brand new cars, some registered, some not. Security was very tight, nearly got caught on the runway!

My Facebastard today is riddled with folks outraged at all these cars "still there" and wanting to start petitions, set fire to MPs etc - I assume these were all gone long ago and the berk who claimed to have taken the pics yesterday is a lying swine?

I'd imagine it's been shared recently on facebook or similar by some sort of clickbait shitehawks:

THESE CARS JUST WANTED TO TAKE THEIR OWNERS TO THE SHOPS, YOU WONT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED NEXT...

Da skrappage skeem is an outrage, like and share if you agree etc...

Why would they be? People can, and do, get similar discounts off new cars all the time, doesn't make any difference at all to the re-sale value.

Maybe they should-to punish the sellers for DESTROYING ALL THE CLASSIC CARS.

Every knobber on the internet is going on about this, disregarding the facts that the cars crapped were junkers and were scrapped years ago.

Fuckwitz.

The text in the first post states the scrappage scheme ended "last week" so the picture and report must be six years old.

Is this one if the 28 thief's later lot selling story's then,

First the quarry grave heap then this.

True - I was window shopping for a 7 seater last week and the Seat dealership gave me the list price for the 1.4 Alambrambrahamba and then pulled out a book with the "dealership" price which was exactly £2K cheaper than the list price.

Bit pissed off that I cant spec a 7 seat Doblo with the pez engine, nor can I spec the 7 seat Bingo with the pez engine.

I must concede that I now have doubts about my own doubts. Anyone else think those look like current Volvos and Jags in the background?

The Mini in the picture was last MOT'd in 2009 (55k, advisory for minor corrosion), so it does tie up. That's not to say they're all scrappage cars, there seems to be a motley collection.

The new cars in the photo could be last generation, I'm not sure. There are new Vivaros in the 28DL post, and they're quite recent. Also the old cars look to have been abandoned for several years, which ties up with the scrappage scheme again.

These photos remind me of the shots you used to see of BL's unsold stock back in the day.

I'm doing some digging on a lorry drivers group on FB but from what I've been told they're mostly still there.

Varies depending on who you speak to. A chap has just informed me that the site was largely cleared late last year.
