I simply can't get it into my thick skull what he really wants to drive.

There's actually no point in trying to find him something.

I suddenly have a headache after reading all this....... again.

White is the Japanese racing colour, like BRG is British ... so therefore white Japanese cars are faster ;)

white doesnt need Lacquer, so is lighter and fasterer

White cars are always owned by tramps man, you gotta read between the lines remember

I only know of one tramp, and he does live in a white car now- a Fiat Panda, therefore 100% of white cars and Fiat Pandas are owned by tramps.

2 of my 8 vehicles are white, therefore I occasionally sleep rough and drink Brasso.

Oh Christ, I'm in trouble then.

Wassit taste like?

I'm on my fourth white car since we came back from Cyprus, and had one over there too.  There's no hope for me!

I'm not keen on white cars because darker colours hide oily fingerprints, veg oil overflow and being dirty a lot better.

I have black car. It looks OK dirty. When you clean it, it makes all the dents, scrapes and scratches very very obvious. And the Hammerite touch ups. On the body kit.

Dirty it is then.

Car may have been found, its on ebay atm @ £500 with no bids and a BIN of £750, Mondeo 1.8LX pezzler, 52 plate, 11 mth MOT, 97k on, service history up to 90k, very good clutch that bites nice and low. Viewed that blue Focus Triggs linked to, sills rusting at the ends, no service history, rocker gasket leaking like the Exxon Valdez, A pillar trim on the ns missing, tailgate going rusty, and 2 racing slicks on the back, plus the wipers didn't work on intermittent, and stopped wherever you turned them off. Windscreen looked to be starting to delaminate too.

That black Fabia, well, where do I start? Front pipe blowing, airbox hacked about to fit a Barry Boy cone filter, timing chain noisy, clutch biting very high and slipping, and the icing on the cake, very black and oily coolant. The header tank was so black it was unreal. I suspect it was up for sale as the seller had enough of spending money on it

£750 for a £300 Mondeo sounds ideal.

Hopefully you get it for closer to £500, but either way it sounds like a refine, safe way to do a longish commute!

Were the 1.8 petrols chain driven too?

Posted

Cambelt. MOT history on it is good too

Posted

I thought it was belt driven, you learn something new every day.

Only faults it has are a bumper scuff and a tiny dent about 3 inches across, and a cracked wheeltrim, nowt really, all electrics work, and it's very clean inside. Its very local in Ashbocking too. If I get it, the first job will be a service

Pre-facelift 1800 and homeless spec.

Fuck that for £750.

If it's due a service I'd imagine Felly will be negotiating £50 or so off it for the parts he'll need to get (assuming he can accurately wield a spanner).

Gotta love the wheel-trims on that! Ford's alloys tended to corrode quite badly so at least that isn't something to worry about.

a cracked wheeltrim,

RESTECP to Felly for coming back on after the bandwagon shitstorm this thread turned into.

Hope you are happy with whatever you buy sir.

That Almera is a bloody bargain, I didn't realise the DCi versions had gotten that cheap, could be a replacement for MrsH's Rover if it ballbags the MOT horrifically.

SCRAP IT

It will have the horrible older font on the dials, and lack climate control, too.

It's like living in the middle ages.

I DESERVE BETTER GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS
