egg Posted July 28, 2020 Author Posted July 28, 2020 The fact that this exists and I don't own one is clearly a travesty . It sold on eBay to another Mondy-man. Tenmil Socket, Burnside, Eyersey1234 and 6 others 9

egg Posted August 6, 2020 Author Posted August 6, 2020 I did the essential prep, i.e. gave it a two bucket job and then remembered I needed to wax the tailgate where the paint is thinning I sent it to my normal tester, with some OEM bits; So an oil change and a good result: Pair of ditchfinders on the front already wearing, maybe because I think the alignment is set toe-in to avoid the pulling to the left issue. I think. Was going to get new rear tyres anyway, so looks like it will be all four at some point. Should take it through to its 28th birthday in March now. That's its 5th MOT on my watch. egg Posted August 7, 2020 Author Posted August 7, 2020 A couple of K-reg's have passed by my eyeballs recently... This 1.6 GLX, a bit like the one I had, was registered May 93, and hasn't had an MOT for a year, but should live on I believe. And then there is this, March 93 registered 1.8 LX - looks fantastic - and has done similar mileage to mine. It's obv on a private plate, if @LightBulbFun has some spare credit, would like to know the original reg please! Fantastic. Burnside, LightBulbFun and RobT 3

egg Posted August 7, 2020 Author Posted August 7, 2020 Great, thanks Kent (Maidstone) registered then, cool. I'm getting a little tempted to start a Mondeo K-reg-register, a bit like the Mini Y register for early Binis... But the world of UK Ford car clubs is probably crowded enough already. greengartside and LightBulbFun 2

KWhite Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 I've bought this March 1993 GLX from a few pages back... It's got a cracked head but it was either going to be bangered or sold to a breakers yard so I thought I had to step in Tenmil Socket, timolloyd, danthecapriman and 10 others 12 1
KWhite Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 @egg My local bodywork man has put me in touch with somebody who hopefully sort the head and then it needs the rear arches doing, the drivers side rear door is bubbling too GrumpiusMaximus, egg and Burnside 3

Surprises me the head has cracked I’ve never known a Zetec to crack a head. I’d just pick a head up from the breakers, not be expensive. Stick a new belt on and away you go. Be interesting to know why it’s overheated though, I’m going for either the lower rear coolant pipe rotted through or the thermostat housing O ring had slowly pissed all the fluid out. holbeck Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 I can't remember if I've posted this before but I started a new job in May 93 and it came with a Mondeo 1.6LX. Day 1 I was given a fuel card for K420UDX however the car was nowhere to be seen. By the end of the day it became apparent that the car would not arrive and a hastily arranged hire car was sorted out (a cavalier 1.8LS). Spin forward a few days and we are told the Mondeo has failed it's PDI and an alternative car is to be arranged. Two weeks later I had K439UDX and for the next 2 years I had mostly good service out of it. egg 1

Burnside Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Not a K reg, but was pleased to see this M reg Mondeo this week. It was at a local body shop, having a repair to the n/s front dr and rear arch. Thought of @egg so had to come back on foot for a sneaky photo. Sorry it's poor, but I was being watched with suspecision by the garage next door! Reg is M455 UEH and comes back as a 94 Diesel. egg and LightBulbFun 1 1

Thanks for that, nice to see a Diesel being worked on, given their relative rarity, and general shiteness! I'll watch the video Dan posted later, looks like prime time viewing! @holbeck - K439UDX last taxed 2003 - only a 10 year life.... holbeck, Dan302 and Burnside 3

It explains a lot of the Mondeo features really well. Some things I didn't know - because I don't have ABS/traction control on mine for example. Makes the car seem very advanced! Definitely lots of pre-production cars in the video, I reckon. Dan302 1

What I'd love to know is whether there are any Ford specialists around with a working FDS 2000 - I've never come across one. Yoss Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Mrs Yoss, who is also a postie, delivers to that garage. They have all sorts of old Fords in there. Lorraine takes the odd picture to show me when they have something really fancy in. Unfortunately old Mondeos don't come in to that category in her mind, it's usually mk1/2 Escorts and Cortinas she takes pictures of. Anyway, I just asked her and she says they are friendly. Seems a long way to come but if you do (or anybody else here) let me know and you're welcome to pop in for tea and biscuits. egg and BorniteIdentity 1 1

egg Posted August 21, 2020 Author Posted August 21, 2020 I've just spent 2 hours cleaning the engine bay a bit. What do you mean it looks no different?!! Kind of job that eats time. sierraman, Joey spud, danthecapriman and 5 others 8
Yoss Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Looks good to me. That's one of those jobs that only you will appreciate because only you know what it looked like before. I do find engine bay cleaning very satisfying. egg 1
sierraman Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 I used to give the various tanks and reservoirs a clean. How you’d be supposed to top the brake fluid up on some cars when there’s bloody cobwebs and detritus all round the cap let alone see how much fluids in there. Wasn’t going to go scrubbing the crank case with a toothbrush though. egg 1
egg Posted August 23, 2020 Author Posted August 23, 2020 Here we go again, the job I've been putting off, replacing the broken cowling with the one bought from eBay and @greengartside. If the windscreen cracks again, it won't be good for the ole mental health, so taking my time. 'strip down' now, new parts to be added after lunch! greengartside, Coprolalia, Dan302 and 5 others 8
