Dumped cars in your area

Plenty of new and old vehicles in various conditions just sat on crofts and parked outside houses on my island. Some are half buried and unsalvageable others look like were abandoned yesterday but have clearly been there for sometime.

Years ago we used to drain them of oil and fluids (reuseing the oil to preserve wood and fencing) put them on a tipper and dump them in the sea but that stopped in the late 80s early 90s....

Nowadays companies visit the island periodically and collect scrap but we don't get anything for vehicles like you do on the mainland due to transport and ferry costs. In short they take them away for free so many are just abandoned or used as croft vehicles.

I really should go round and take some pictures as they are some real gems ive seen a fair few Mk3 Astras and Cavaliers recently and the odd old Peugeot. They are two blue Lada Nivas on my croft but there's not much left of them.

Just a few examples... Might get out with a camera soon

This was my air B+B for the evening. Inside of the main house looked as you might imagine, separate rental room was...OK.

Oddly that Mazda is apparently red, and the bus blue! Don't think so

That Integra Type-R would be worth proper money on the mainland...

I wasn't sure whether to put these in Truck Shite or here.

Spotted these while waiting for my MOT.

They belong to a local recovery firm which looks to have gone out of business very recently. I remember these trucks cutting about as you could hear their fruity exhausts for miles!

8 legger is L889UHT and looks to have undergone some bodywork before being laid up. It was previously a bulk grainer.

Tractor unit has been off the road a long time, at least since 2008. Probably bought for spares from another local haulage firm which is still trading, however it still appears complete.

Theres another N reg EC10 behind that which has only become untaxed this month. I didn't photograph it as Id have had to walk too far into the premises.

Spotted this on the way back home. It'd been hammering it down and rather unfortunately, this car had been left abandoned on a bit that became quite flooded.

Abandoned x Government Peugeots in Homs, Syria.

Yes, they loved these Peugeots. My uncle who was a manager of the financial department at the Sheraton in Damascus had a 1980 Renault 12 for many years until the war started.

This has been sat here forever with a bin bag taped over the broken window. The bag fell off about two years ago

This was unmoved when I used to live on this road.

image.jpeg.9acad5a66c7b788768cd33a55151a98d.jpeg

That was in 2016, I walked down there the other night and it’s still there. it's a bottom of the range Astra 1.4 Merit estate.

Pretty much every year it's had multiple "suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded" fails on the MOT.

2025 - rare no sun roof model which might mean the rear arches will be intact ...

In Birmingham near my Mum's house;

X5 has been here for at least a year, if not longer. Rear suspension is down so much, the rear tyres are tucked up in the suspension. The road here is surprisingly more busy than I thought hence the crappy pics.

Mondeo has been here for a few years too. It's usually up to the top of its bumpers in wheat grass and weeds but this seems to have been cleared. Not dumped as such, but has sat unused for a long time.

Given that the Jag's front door doesn't match the back, I wonder if that's some salvage-auction special bought by someone with long-since-foundered intentions to 'do up' and 'sell on at a profit'?  The back end of the sill appears to be rusty, too, which isn't great for a nearly new car.  Presumably it's still worth something?

It's 14-18 years old, so I wouldn't say it's nearly new. I doubt it's worth saving in that condition - an early XF is not a particularly valuable car. It'll be worth even less if it has something serious like an engine/gearbox problem or rot is getting into it.

A running and MOT'd one is £1200 or so upwards I'd say, and that one doesn't look like it's close to running or having an MOT...

Between Kidderminster and Bromsgrove. This has been here a while now, at least 2 or 3 months as I remember first seeing it around October when the weather started turning. There doesn't seem to be any urgency in getting the car removed, having said that, the field looks a bit boggy at the moment and its right next to a busy road so recovering it wouldn't be as easy unless the owner of the field could get a tractor and some forks to lift it out to somewhere more solid. There is some old Police tape flapping about around where presumably the car entered through the hedge.
