Apparently Im a twat for just posting saying "I like this" and cluttering the forum up - so for maximum shite points a photo of the Belmont parked in front of the Belmont is needed.

what I really want is a picture of the Belmont next to your manky leg.

no links mind, I want a screen-full of pus

.... those boots are made for :-

Saw a Skoda Fabia [with a boot] yesterday... I know they are about (a'boot.. Geordie) as I had one as a loan when something was having a service long ago.

Were the all Jersey Hire/Loaners ??

Great thread title - surprised nobody has mentioned it already.

I await in anticipation to see how it scrubs up. The car that is.

The kind of people that suit a Belmont in my mind look like Tosh from the Bill, Just like in your Avatar

That is very very nice indeed - just goes to show that there are still one (giffer) owner cars out there that have stood the test of time. Very nice to see the stacks of old tax discs, receipts etc.

The old guy who owned is 92 years old, so he bought it when he was in his 70's!

Cheers for the com's folks. I'll update on Sunday once I've got the valeters at my work to blast it off for me as I don't have a day off until Wednesday now.

On another note I'm slightly pissed off with Adrian Flux. I called when sat in the car waiting to leave Ashford planning to swop my classic policy over from the now discarded Golf to this fine booted Astra. It's what I normally do and I'll swallow a £20 admin fee or whatever.

Anywho, after 10 minutes just on hold the young lady finally gets back to say they can't cover the Belmont on that policy, but chuck them £450 and they'll start a fresh one - WTF!?! I've been with AF for yonks so was mighty hacked-off.

Belled up Footman James, another 20 minute fannying about and they set me up for £100. Still a pisser as it's already added £80 to what I expected the frigger to owe me. BALLS!!! So including train, bus and that it's a £430 car, which if I'd know before hand I'd have thought twice about TBH. Still, shit happens, I see how I feel in the daylight with a blast off.

TBF even for £430 its still a nice car

insurance don't make any sense at all, they can cover a goof, but cannot cover a JRG old man spec astra with a boot called belmont.

does...

not....

compute.....

1990 called. It wants to take its mates for a spin around the local estate.

not sure if it is asking permission or just telling you though!

I had some real hassle trying to get mine on a classic policy, all those years ago. 1987 Senator = no problem, 1987 Belmont = get bent, although neither was 20 years old at that point.

My dad had one briefly in red,it was shit, but enough about that, top thread title!

Years back when I worked for Motor World, the shop manager had a CDi Belmont in burgundy, lots of nice velour, and it went like bloody stink

Top purchasing, great to see it saved from being destroyed.  It looks like it should come up nicely with a bit of a clean, looks very original too.

WTF do you take me for? Of course I am. Fortunately the missing trims are in the boot

goody good!

just the survivors all seem to be sat on daft wheels with cut springs, that ole thing looks better IMO been stock.

If it drives anything like my k reg Astra then you're onto a winner there! One thing that's puzzling me though is that the dash and switchgear look completely different when I thought they'd be the same?

That looks ace,  well done for persevering with the ebay twunt.

They've always made me think of places,  a couple of my first jobs were at Belmont in Durham then I moved down to Hereford that also has a shit bit called Belmont.

Could be wrong but I'm sure I stopped at the Belmont or one very similar in about 1992 with my parents. It was one of those outfits where you had to share the bath or shower with several other rooms. Obviously not at the same time needless to say...

I'd just use the travelodge these days rather than getting in a bath with a big scum ring round it from all the festering tramps that's been in it in the last hour, then being subjected to an interrogation over breakfast as to what my plans were today by the proprietor.
