Its a Mini Jiffy!!!! I would rather kill myself than go on holiday in that

I think the intended purpose of holidaying in that would be to kill others. I'm wondering the legalities of towing the thing behind a very large car, kind of the opposite of the twats who tow a tiny car behind an oversized motorhome.

Thats fantastic!

I am glad there are no Jiffys in Austria (I guess?), but that really great!

I'd love to buy that just to be able to say  " Just popping out, I'll be back in a Jiffy "

There's more about these on this old RR thread including this post.

''My father Barrie Badland founder of indespension was the brain child of the jiffy he asked Richard oaks who designed the nova kitt car to design it.lack of type approval ment they could only be sold in kitt form.i remember seeing all the many chassis and body parts at the factory in 1982.they were both working on the idea of a large version with cortina running gear, unfortunately barrie Badland died at only 46 years old in 1983. The company was taken over and the jiffy project was scrapped within six months.76 vehicle were sold.it always makes me proud when I see them''

I only have two questions: how much and give it to me

Posted

Do I recognise a mini windscreen? I suppose if it has the mini lump then it would make sense to use some other bits as well.

Posted

Only problem I can see is, where do you stick the pineapple ?

Posted

Lovely. Different and funky. That would confuse europarts counter staff when needing bits.

Needing parts for Ford fiesta's and peugeot 206's do a good enough job of confusing eurocarparts staff.

Meh. A Ford Focus will also do that in fairness.

Looking in the related items of that eBay listing, there is the least appropriate camper conversion I have ever, ever seen (unless you're Warwick Davis or something):

And it's auto.

How slow would that be???

Jesus wept, do you have to kneel on the remaining rear seat to use the sink? Even with the elevating roof you can't stand up let alone walk around in it. The roof headliner looks like it's about two foot away from the gas hob, which you have to use stood under the tailgate so at least you can just walk away when it all goes up in flames.

And there's no bed. It's a camper, with no bed.

Edit: There is a bed

So I take that bit back, but the rest of it looks shit. How does the passenger seat spin around? The car's too small for a dayvan-style swivvely chair, I really hope you have to hoik it out and slide it back in the wrong way.

In fact, it's got one bed but three seats. Why? Just ditch two of the seats and have more room, a longer bed or whatever. Why have seating for two people who presumably just have to go for an 8 hour walk every night whilst you sleep?

You know what, I slagged that off in that post.....

Last night, after a few bevvies watching Most Haunted, I had two quite weird dreams. One involved Bill Bailey, but the more AS-relevant one involved that exact car, parked in a cave, being my home. I was very relaxed on that bed (which is surprising, as it's an inch shorter than me), I was listening to the radio, and there was some soup on the cooker.

Weird.

Am I imagining it or wasn't there a Citroen AX similarly converted on ebay recently? I think it had been used for 'overnight fishing trips' which just has to be a euphamism for somethibg much worse

Posted

The AX is the better one, since it looks more car. I really don't get why the Vauxhall Giffermobile has a flip-top roof, you can't stand up in the back bit. The AX was far more subtle.
