There's one on autotrader near me that's advertised as driving well but slowly. I don't see many around and don't know anything about them.

Lovely car / engine to drive but massive liner problems . Needs to be disposable cheap

Isuzu motor eh? Saabs are an itch I need to scratch but at £300 and it has problems already,I need to think.

I've heard so many horror stories about the various Diesel engines fitted to Saabs that in common with PRV-engined Volvos, I'll forever give cars fitted with them a wide berth no matter how cheap or clean they are.

EDIT: Just found the Autotrader ad for the car. Looks pretty grim, but must be worth the price as a breaker.

The 2.2 is the most reliable Saab diesel . Pretty much indestructible apart from some issues with the (Bosch ) injector pump

Just one word of advice - RUN!

No need to run, just a gentle jog will do...It won't catch you ;)

I've been looking too, but aside from a shite engine, I was more concerned about the availability or otherwise of general parts.

I've not had any problems getting OEM or aftermarket parts for mine at all; everything is available online from independent Saab specialists such as Neo Brothers :)

I have heard horror stories about the complexity of that engine.

Same engine as the Vectra 3.0 CDTi, Isuzu Troopers, Espace and Vel Satis.

I doubt the engine is the problem, is it sensors or cooling?

The 3.0 V6 Isuzu engine is a fugging nightmare whatever car it's fitted to - although the Saabs don't seem to suffer quite as badly from overheating issues as the Renaults.  It's also completely pointless as a 1.9 CDTi 150 will be just as quick and a feckload better on fuel.

It depends if it's a long-term keeper or a run it till it breaks car and if it's cheap enough why not?
