Forgive me AS, for I have REALLY sinned.

As long as it isn't a PT cruiser then it can't be that bad.

or a fucking prius

Mrs thestag had a new 51 plate one 1.8 pez. ok it was built and used like a whitegood but it did everything we wanted etc etc etc nowt went wrong with it except bits falling off it which I kept in the wheely bin.

New Grand Picasso she now has does like to flash up random messages and pop the engine management light on. A cheapo ODBII reader fixes hides all those problems.

Front seat jam in their runners with dust, seat foams dissolve, second row seats fold flat when they want to not when I need them to, third row seats buckle at the slightest weight, tailgate lock fails, turbos overboost, air dozer drips oil onto the alternator, engine mounts are made of cheese, dash top boxes dont lock closed and pop open while driving. Dash and door trim is covered in what looks like hair lacquer which peels off. but all that can be fixed by me with hammers, glue and anything I can find in the man cave for zero costs

Clutch however went at 56k which was a surprise but apparently normal for heavy oil 1.6, even less pleasant surprise was the bloody dual mass flywheel being scrap also. Shitroen refused to listen about fit for purposeness. Then as the final turd on the cupcake, just after Main stealer delivered it back and I mean like 1 fucking mile it was jumping out of all the gears. They collected it and told me the gearbox was full of water and I must have driven it into a river!!!! They stripped and cleaned the box and delivered it back, we negotiated hard and I mean fucking hard and I paid for the parts they fitted and they paid the labour.

So in summary, bubble picasso leaves me with a warm fuzzy feeling, new grand picasso leaves me thinking about the next citilopram dose and an empty wallet

But at least it isnt a fucking Prius

Considering they're essentially similar as regards oily bits, the difference between the Pickarsehole and the Blingo was like night & day

THIS.

Really this. The Picasso has a worse turning circle than the Bingo, less room inside and seems more fragile inside.  I really loved my Bingo, I just wish PSA would put a third row of optional seats in the boot. That would be my perfect car. And I can get even more canoes on the roof of a Bingo with the builders roof rack option. Still, Picassos are dirt cheap compared with the Bingo brethren so its not all bad.

There is nothing to forgive, you have a catalogue of much worthier steeds under your belt already so a car that was purchased at a time when needs must is entirely okay.

Besides, Chompy used to have one so how bad can it be?  Oh, actually, now I put it like that.

There is nothing to forgive,

Nothing to forgive? Raffling off a Street Wise to buy a Picasso is akin to xtriple raffling off his Bentley to buy a Chrysler Neon automatic with a Renault 2.2 diesel engine.

The Renault 2.2 IDI engine is alright.

I don't like Picassos but I can't call them shit, they hover just above that like a really fat bluebottle.  There are worse, more miserable cars out there like the Carina E or the Mk1 Golf floppytop.

Zafira Mk2 seems to be the chav family chariot of choice round here, particularly after Vauxhall kept on selling them after the Mk3 came out for dirt cheap prices, a bit like the Fiesta 'Classic' in the mid 90s. They are fucking grim.

At least the Picasso looks interesting and by all accounts is more reliable. All the Scenic Mk2's seem to have grenaded themselves, and you don't see that many Mk3's about.

My sister has a mk2 scenic, which so far* seems ok. Mechanically anyway. Electrically so so.

Daughter in law has one, bought at 3 years old for some cheapness.

Has NEVER failed to proceed, or needed any attention between services.

I've driven it...and...errrr... it's OK. Damning with faint praise maybe, but it does the job she/they wanted it for.

These ARE Jeremy Kyle on wheels...

I'd say probably 85% of the ones seen locally are piloted by scraped-back-hair, border-line heroin using blonde MIWLFs...

Yeh, I think I know why...

I'd imagine the gearstick is quite exciting for the MIWLFs.

Well I quite like them. Grim, but unpretentious and simple.

In fact I like them so much, I'll buy all the roffle tickets when it inevitably goes; where do I send the £49?

Mrs Sloth laughed at this, then felt bad for having got the joke.

If I had loads of kids and needed a car to ferry them round in, I'd definitely kill myself.

These seem to have avoided the dunderhead and angry drivers round here somehow, so I'm pretty neutral towards them. Wouldn't find joy in seeing one weighed, but wouldn't care either.

I nearly bought one a couple of years ago but saw some with hellish rust so looked elsewhere. They are my daughter's favorite car because they have trays and a fold down middle seat with cup holders. She calls them people seaters.

Citroen did the same with these, the C4 Picasso came out on 56 plate but they kept selling the Xsara Picasso until 10 plate.

The ones built between 2002 and 2006 are very flimsy and badly built, the earlier and later ones are better, I remember when I worked at Citroen the at the time 3 year old 53 plate ones were wrecks inside.

Citroen certainly had irony nailed though, from 2006 there were only 3 trim levels, Desire, VTX and Exclusive, and these certainly were neither Desirable or Exclusive as there were loads of them everywhere.

I can't knock them, whilst they are unexciting chariots of the mouth breathing society, they have simple mechanicals and are useful things with the rear seats removed.

They're very good A-B family haulage appliances for use by the hard of thinking.

It's just baffling as to why they exclusively appeal to a particularly malodorous branch of the benefits-brigade.

They make good camera cars once you've taken the back doors off.

That also makes it easier to insert the washing machine, bicycle frames and other bulky mixed metals when you do the decent thing and send it over the bridge.

Mind you, remapping and turning it into some perverse undercover street-warrior certainly has my endorsement.

Is there a cheaper way to get your hands on a 2.0 HDi? And presumably there are 8V non DPF ones out there? Theoretically good for 300K miles. Or 429K like Sloth's uncle's one.

Like Ultrawomble (edit - and Chaseracer) I reckon the 2003-06 Berlingo Multispace is the ultimate A to B machine. But Picassos are half the price.  And the white one looks quite good. Like a shuttle pod.

Best car I've ever had.

Id have a 2.0 Hdi Picasso, they're nice to drive and a good useful-but-not-too-big size plus id be able to practice welding on it. What do they weigh and what's the towing capacity??

I have always fancied a bit of a go in one,

Now, five pages on, where are the proper fucking pictures?
