Cornhill Yard of Dreams II: Electric Boogaloo

Looks fab this place, excellent selection of chod, especially like the Landcraaaab.

You know how they put out forest fires with helicopters dropping water bombs, well we should sponsor a massive T-cut drop on this place then rock up with some lint free rags and all drive off the cars of our dreams.

The owner of the Cornhill Yard of Dreams popped over t'other week to inform me he'd been browsing AS and enjoyed my write up of the yard and that he'd got a new hearse in. I actually have a half-decent camera now-a-days so I popped back for a second visit.

The Oxford still guards the enterance although a headlight has vanished.

This is a recent arrival I think.

The largest change is that the shed frame is now an actual shed so there is a small amount of covered space and floor that's not mud/leaves/tyres/Morris Oxford trim. The new shed housed this ex-daily driver:

Also, this surprisingly clean and tidy Civic which I rather liked:

Most importantly it contains this 1950s Princess hearse which I think was coachbuilt locally in Banff. It's been stored in a open sided shed for 40 odd years and the owner of the yard has been trying to buy it for 20!

Also some wall decoration.

Back outside there is this Volvo 244DL, it actually looks like it'd just drive out the yard, tough old barges:

This 1500FWD looks like it was in better condition than my cars when it came off the road in '08... Mint interior and the clock says it's done under 9,000 miles. There are rumours on the TDC site that there was one with incredibly low mileage knocking about up here in the 1990s over near Elgin, wonder if this is the one, it's an Inverness reg...

That Nissan Pao sitting there like that is criminal!

Is it terminally rotted or something?

I genuinely like those mad little things too... may be interested. Depending heavily on various factors. I also don't really have anywhere to keep it... um...

Still, I want to save it somehow! Poor wee thing.

I had a nosy underneath when it first came in and I reckon it'd certainly need new rear arches and sills, it's had welding to the sills done before too from what I can tell. It's been off the road since it's MOT expired in '08 and was in the same field as the one eyed Oxford as I recall.

I actually took some shit photos of it for a guy who runs a classic car garage down in Lancashire who wanted it for his girlfriend but I think the asking price was £1500 at that point and the cost of moving the thing down there was prohibitive.

Think the guy wants about grand or so for it now, minters seem to be around the £4-5k mark. Can't imagine there is much of a market for them though, especially up here...

I'd buy the thing myself if I had the space/money but I reckon that'd just mean it rotting away in a slightly different location!

[cough, cough] The Austin hearse is actually a Sheerline, and would be rarer than a Princess of the same era. Main differences are a lower line of the wings, continued into the front doors and the (missing) P100 headlights which are probably now gracing a pre-war Rolls :(  [/pedant mode]

It should be saved, even though it would only be worth a fraction of the cost of restoration. Pair the Sheerline hearse with that elongated Landcrab; Autoshite Funeral Services - make your last journey one you will never forget!

Great that you have a yardowner who seems interested in their stock and happy to let someone take photos.

That generation of Bluebird is pretty rare, only sold here as a saloon for a couple of years. Would be interested to know what the full registration is if possible, please.

That Pao will no doubt need lots of sparky stick action, and someone will probably buy it, bodge it up, and bung it on egay for some daft mug to buy

There's a freshly imported Pao on ebay for 3k (ono) with v5 and mot.

I can't help but feel a bit sorry for the cars in such yards, we had a look around one in Scotchland  with the Panda mob a couple of years ago and it was amazing, especially as the earth sucks them down into it and mosses grow over them.

Great find!

We were there at the same time in the Scottish Renault 18 club...
