Tonight it seems to be all about 80s hot hatches. Wonder which one they'll choose to restore, and what set pieces they'll lay on. Carrying on from last week's theme some sort of 80's police camera action recreation perhaps?

I place bets on a Golf GTi, or 205 GTi. At a push an XR3i. I doubt a GTE, but that would be nice.

Posted

oddly enough its a golf gti.

not my cup of tea, would have been far more interesting if it was an XR3i or an ashtray gte.

snore snore.......

Awww, nice twist at the end :-)

Off to listen to some Duran Duran now...

Posted

My missus wanted to watch the C word , so flicked over on the hammer fall......what was the twist ?

Posted

The guys father in law bought it for the guy who was selling it

the c word ---- what word was it? crap?

i saw a trailer for it, and i fancied watching that about as much as cutting out my own liver and kidneys and dropping them into a frying pan in front of me.

It was a bit crap, again. Glennister wanders off tangent talking about something totally unrelated.

Next week when they restore a 1986 Merc 190E Cosworth he'll talk for 35 minutes about the impact North Sea oil had on the EEC in the 1970's.

The old series was so much better, as is the Fuzz Townsend series. 3/10.

been watching james may cars of the people 20 mins left on bbc2 now

glenister - what a cnut

its got more and more uninteresting

Off topic, but can we see Taffs Galaxie pleeeease?

Posted

I liked it because it people who that aren't into cars talk to you about it ( then wish they hadn't ).

I spotted the 500 they're doing next week In the background at the auction. Omg all tv iz fake .

Chrysler 180?

I think the entire audience for that episode would fit in a phone box and half of them would would be moaning that Glennister spent 7 minutes of the show taking the piss out of the froggy Automatique badge on the boot.

Last series ( which was excellent) all the cars they did were also sold at auction, but the auction had a program of its own. I think this is a much better format than showing the auction at the end of each program. Typical of TV production companies - find a format that works well, then change it, normally for the worst.

I saw "Shed and Buried" where they purchased a VX 4/90 that had been rallied, roll cage and all. Far more interesting than yet another Golf, but then how many typical TV viewers know what a VX 4/90 is. Everyone has heard of Golf's, Aston Martin's etc. so they play to the mass audience.

Having the auction at the end of each episode makes sense when the series is flogged to Dave and then they can show an individual programme to fill a time slot.

Saab 96 this week- a bit left field for them Looking at what they've covered so far

Passed the Car SOS pick-up pulling a trailer with a red 205GTI  on board yesterday, heading in the direction of Fuzz's workshop. I hope that it will be on in the next series, I don't think that any programme has done one yet?

I enjoyed the SAAB episode just now, and the repeat of Guy Martin just before it, on a push bike at 110mph. Nutcase.

Some of the choices and connections they make are rather tenuous, but meh... plenty of Swedish shite on show.

What went on at the end with the guy that bought it? He was full of it after the auction, then decided he couldn't keep it when he heard the back-story.

IIRC mocney Brewer and Edd did one a while back.

Watched the SD1 programme yesterday. Not exactly thrilling stuff. I'm not taking to Glenisla (that's what my phone reckons he's called) at all. Which means he'll probably be an excellent TG presenter.

Was the guy who bought the Saab not the same guy who bought the Aston too?

Or am I on a planet far far away?

I really enjoyed the first series but this one seems way too cuntrived.
