NEIGHBOUR SHITE

No, not shite neighbours in particular but shite-driving neighbours to be more precise.   Our unmade-up street of 11 houses has, as follows.....

1. X reg Xsara (proper, non-Pickarso) and V reg Fiesta

2. S reg Corsa and another unmentionable 21st century Voxhall Shitbucket

3. No longer has car (they did have K11 Micra before giffer stopped driving)

4. R reg Corolla

5. Some kind of modern Fester

6. R Reg C Class and 51 plate Mundaneo

7. R Reg Astra

8.  Lets the side down with a proliferation of landfill including an 07 BMWhocares and a Fat 500

9. Us with K reg 190E and Morrises  plus T25 dampervan but that's still in a shed somewhere

10. 51 plate Saab

11.  Don't have a car but (so they tell me) once owned a Riley Elf.

I contemplated the above fact just now as I stumbled around the potholed shared access road and was actually quite pleased that, although far from being a 60s landscape, at least I could still recognise the majority of their cars and tell where the registration numbers come from.

As you were.....

in my little corner it's a K11 Micra, VW people carrier, fat arse megane with Isle of Man plate that they need to reregister as a British car as it's been here over two and a half years, a Chevrolet pick up, a Picasso and a streetka. Oh, and me!

Posted

Nothing in my street, all a bit boring. Chap across the road had a x plate Focus mk1, but its getting bridged as it needs brake pipes and something else done for its mot. Looks very tatty.

Apart from me and the guy who lives on a right angle to me who has a willy's jeep that is cleaner that my 2010 X-trail,eveyone has new eurobox merc's or bmw's.

My 21st century built home is surrounded by moderns. I get shitty looks for the fact I have crap kicking about (I think the 'breaking' 190e on stands doesn't help mind).

1. 08 Zafira

2. 59 Focus convertible and he appears to work for Vauxhall as there's always a new Vx there, different every week, but was pleased to see him cleaning a Mk4 Astra Estate at the weekend

3. 60 plate C4 Grand Picasso and a 56 Mazda 6

4. 59 plate Skoda Fabia

5. 60 plate Focus TDCi

6. 61 plate Corsa

7. Mine - currently has our 58 reg 525d, 53 reg Ka, S reg Jag XJ8, G reg 525i and breaking 190E outside. Others are thankfully stored around the county!

8. 63 reg Dacia Logan - horrendous

9. Hyundai 4x4 thing on a 12 plate and a 56 Astra

10. 10 plate 1 series and 53 reg Corsa

11. 09 Corsa and a V reg Corsa (shite then). Before the 09 Corsa they had a P reg MK3 Astra.

12. 64 plate Seat Ibiza

My road is boring, i occasionally get a gold 190e visiting someone up the road, everyone local i meet seems to know my house it's a bit worrying.

Posted

Next door neighbours son is currently stripping a mid 90s Civic and also has a v reg Honda S2000. Across the road is an 02 Focus and there's a smiley face transit at the bottom of the street. As I live on a modern street with production line detached homes most other stuff is boring.

Posted

Nothing interesting here either. The old boy across the road did have an F reg petrol engined Transit camper van that you could smell coming a mile off. You forget how clean modern exhausts are when you smell a rich running old heap like that. He must have been getting about 8mpg out it, no wonder he's replaced it with a diseasel Fiat thing.

Next shitest is my T reg V40, next after that are a couple of 52/03 reg Vectras & Clios. The rest are all new-ish crap.

Posted

Smart car with gold wire wheels (looks good...honest!) and 03 Honda CR-V.

02 VX Astra in blue and really, REALLY shabby.

02 Saxo tidy.

That's about it for this road everything else is nice and newish.

Occasionally get a lovely Sierra hatch come up the road and park. Told the driver he had a 'Nice car' and he was pleased someone noticed.

I live on a very long street (numbers stop just short of 100) highlights are a Bedford CF motorhome, a Volkswagen T2 Camper and an old Thames (?) truck that's usually covered by a tarpaulin.

Posted

Nothing of real note in my street. Occasionally a mint condition L reg Corolla turns up, there's a particularly smart unmessed with N reg corsa. The rest is tdi road litter.

Posted

OK, I don't live in this street but the last mile of my drive to work is through Chod Valley. There are are several Sherpa and Trafic campers, a 1970s 5 series, 2 Dr Range Rover, W123 Merc, Triumph 1300, Montego, Volvo 240 and many others. It is one of those 1930s developments of brick bungalows with asbestos sheet garages. Weird.

I live on a long narrow cul de sac of terrace houses. Fairly down to earth area so bristling with shite.

Woman over the road seems to mainly buy cheap automatic shitters and runs them into the ground. Currently 51 plate Accent, before that, purple T reg Daihatsu Terrios.

2 doors up from me, couple have W plate rover 414 saloon.

My retired neighbour had until last year a G reg mk4 Escort (bonus edition I think). Apparently it failed the MOT and the garage offered to scrap it for him (more like eBay & trouser the profit).

The winner though is the old boy at the end of the street with a white G reg 190. He's had it since I first moved here 10 years ago and the paint is as flat as a witches tit. It has checked sports style seats and cosworth body kit and wheels. Pretty sure it's not an actual 16v though.

When there's a service at the Mosque, our street is taken over with diesel Octavias, faaaaasands of em.  The rest of the time there's crusty Ka, Fiat 500(XXXXXX)L, Rover 75 and numerous cars too modern/bland to pay attention to.  A little surprise recently was having a black rubber-bumper MG B GT and a Ford Probe parked around the corner.

Posted

The view on my road goes:

Broken Rover R8 and a shoddy 45

Shit modern Audi

Some Honda off road people carrier thing

Toyota hatchbacky people carrier thing

Minty T plate Focus estate

1 Series

Matt black/white Grenada and XR3i cab

Chap down the road here has a garden full of XMs and BXs (including one dead 4x4), I should really go and make friends but meh.

Posted

IIRC there are now only three houses on our road that have a pre-2001 car: us, with Old Man's Y-reg but old shape Civic, a giffer couple at the bottom of the road woth a purple X-reg Seat Ibiza, and a house four doors down that has two recent Clios... and a 1968 Austin Cooper in the garage.

Posted

Mine all have new stuff- Peugeot cc, Range Rover, merc clk, Honda Jazz, bmw 3 series, a mini, mx5, Honda crv, x5. The royals in the big house have a disco, jag for official stuff and a helicopter.

Oh and the Americans have a Cadillac and Chrysler people Carrier on diplomatic plates,

Nowt much of real interest here. I live in a 1930s built council estate in Birmingham. A good proportion of the houses have been sold off privately but the "council estate attitude" hasn't.

Starting at the top of the road, noteworthy cars are:

• Red G40 Polo, driven by an old lady, don't know if it is still there anymore.

• A Deawoo Espero driven by a giffer, recently replaced with a newish Fiesta in resale Silver.

• Red Mk1 Almera owned by a friend of mine

• Blue T-reg Corsa driven by my mate

• Green Mk1 Focus estate driven by noisy chav neighbours I hate, they used to have a Chrysler Voyager Diesel in Black, now for sale.

•My W124 Mercedes and Ma's K11 Micra.

• Silver Picarshole across the road, used to belong to a house on the other corner. Chap across the road often had decaying Fords when I first arrived, I vaguely remember a Mk2 Fiesta and Sierra Sapphire, now long gone, last Ford was a late Escort.

• X-plate Astra and some Renault Megane Scenic with 1 broken wiper.

• A retired doctor lives on the corner, he sometimes drives his always garaged new S40, but sometimes drives a Red early K11 auto.

There has been some large family moved into the end house of the street. As it's right by the dead-end, I notice they seem to always be tinkering with some shite. On the driveway looks to be some sort of late 60s Ford Zephyr of something of that description, there always seem to be dodgy types standing around as one of the rigger booted ones is working on some shite. He always has cars for sale standing on the half-round about next to his house, he owns/drives a diesel Discovery.

My neighbour has the Focus which has been a good reliable car in spite of looking tatty, the Vectra is Foster son’s, Clio is daughter’s but she is at University so car just parked until holidays, son has no car at moment and mum has a 2004 BMW 320D touring auto 200k but only lives there some of the time.

The next house has a very boring, quite young Golf.

Then fields before any more humans but the sheep the other side, seem to have a quad bike!

Absolutely devoid of shite in my road, virtually all the cars are less than 5 years old and the majority sport private plates. AMG Mercs, BMWs, Audis, Binis, and Golfs are the mainstay. We have an Aston Martin at one of the cul-de-sac and a Cayenne at the other. It's more pistonheads than autoshite!

Posted

Mostly modern boring rubbish in my close but the bloke next door has a V reg Astra that always sounds on the verge of shitting it's camshaft, how it keeps going I do not know. Sometimes the people opposite have a visitor with a mk3 Cavalier which gets my juices flowing.

Amid the droves of Hyundai i10s, one of my neighbours drives this wheeled horror:

I live in modern noddy land now, all 5 series BMWs and a couple of those weird Pug 508s and I hate it previously being in the back of beyond exposed to the ocean breeze where there were some treats. Mainly 20 year old pick ups made from crumbs but almost every car was 15yr plus and frilly. A Mazda 121 parked into the teeth of an Atlantic winter with 2 inch panel gaps and a roof made from cheesecloth was my neighbours steed of choice. Up the road at the next farm a Mk1 Mondeo and a Land Rover Defender with no exhaust.

I still drive a Subaru Outback with bumpstops almost rusted through so I can't really complain.

My next door neighbour has probably 20 cars, mostly old triumph or Jaguars....

I remember meeting your nieghbour and his (rather nice) wife.

Forgot to add, sometimes visiting the street where I stay, there is sometimes a...

• White Volvo 940 estate with ladders on the roof. Only seen it a handful of times. Have a pic and do sometimes think it could be the SVM on one of thier undercover operations.

• I've seen a Blue Mk3 Fiesta once which I took a really shit pic of.

• A couple of doors up, another typical chav family have a son who drives all sorts of shit. Currently he is driving a Fiat Scudo van that doesn't have a straight panel.

Elsewhere around the estate;

• A tired mk1 Renault Laguna Estate that has recently replaced, owned by a local "mechanic" its plate was tranferred to some new Fiat van thing which replaced the Renault. He also owns a very grubby Bedford Rascal/Suzuki van and some Caterham-type kit car that hasn't moved for years.

• A V6 C-Class estate once adorned a house around the corner, it was replaced with newer C-Class saloon but I've not seen that since either.

• Just before I left for France there was a Mk2 Rover 820i in Grey. I couldn't buy as I has fuck all money (as always) and very little time to sort anything. The car was scrapped whilst I was away as the owner tried to sell it to no avail and was embarking on a huge house refurb so needed it gone. It got cubed straight away so I heard.

• A W123 Coupe (C123?) In Gold has been seen around, have spoken to the rather retired professor looking dullard owner.

• A 2000 Caddilac CTS also lives in the estate.

• There used to be a Red Volvo 850 on a driveway that a few years ago just stood about getting worse, paint started getting rougher and its rear window got smashed which covered up with plastic. Since coming back from France I noticed it had disappeared.

• A very clean Blue Rover Metro once lived on the estate, saw it once being piloted by a little old lady. Might still be around.

Blue facelifted early shape Renault Scenic once lived a few streets away, seen it a few times piloted by a dissatisfied looking young Blonde mum.

• There were a few R8 200s about but these have since dissappeared.

Stepping into the earlier part of the estate:

• Mk4 Fiesta on Mk1 Sierra trims once lived on a different part of the estate.

• An early Mk2 Toyota Carina II is sometimes seen in a different (nicer) part of the estate.

• There is a house in the different part of the estate almost opposite the Carina chap, this house seems to have the need for at least one non-moving car to live outside the house. Previously there was a late 80s Jaguar XJ6 that never moved parked on his driveway in front of the garage, then it was almost immediately replaced with a R8 Green Rover 414SLi which I have a pic of.

• An early Blue K11 Micra lived on the other part of the estate.

Well, lets only talk Shitters in our street.  Fred, who is 1003 years old drives a dented mazda hatch with poppy uppy lights. And the Polish tribe, have an assortment of damaged repairables in the drive including a mk2 golf convertible with flat tyres and a missing headlight.  The plan is a VR6 Turbo conversion.  The owner, "call me andy" also has a 2007 BMW 3 Series, which he bought as a salvage mess and now appears to be perfect. (Before you ask NO it has not been ringed, as it gradually came to life with second hand parts in the wrong colour, before it went off for a full repaint.)  There are no other shite tastic cars, because 0 % finance

Bugger all round here, the bloke who had a 106 has moved out, had a Cinqicento (speeling) thingy before that, everyone but everyone else has boring modern crap, apart from a pristine Starlet that lives in a road behind us.

The 106 was on winter tyres and he'd reverse all the way up the hill making it look easy,  when it snows bad its a bugger to get up the road, never gritted, so he and me (winter tyres again) were the only owners of 2WD cars that could get out, no one else has a clue.

We've been here about 12 years now and i've never seen the bonnet raised nor any single one of the local cars jacked up.

In our communal car park we have :-

Ours (mk4 Astra, Hyundai Matrix)

T-reg Fiesta, dumped

Y-reg Fiesta Zetec, dumped

56-plate Doblo, dumped

07-plate Jag estate, alarm keeps going off on it.

03-plate Zafira

55-plate Fiesta

Pickarseo

L-plate Audi 80, dumped

Land Rover jeepy thing. Been dumped there months.

There's 5 cars dumped in our car park and now the council have had enough and limited our car parking spaces so now we've got to struggle with one. Wankers.

There's the odd mid to late 90's car still about down my street, one being an exceptionally tidy Toyota Corolla - giffer owned. The only really 'old' car other than mine is a Morris Minor. There was a very crusty Volvo Amazon sat on a drive for years but that's gone now replaced by an R reg Mondeo.

Now and again a mk4 Escort and Triumph Mayflower can be found parked roadside but that's about it.
