Any love for Quasimodo?

Hi!

Somehow I really like the look of the Citroen C4 Coupe. This one:

What to you think of it? Cool or not?

Anyone had one?

You know the rearward visibility's an utter joke, right? I rejected the three door on those grounds.

I have a 5 door HDi. It used to annoy my predecessor.

They look really nice, I'd roll in one.

I think the gentleman who posted before you might advise you not to attempt that particular manoeuvre.

One of my mates had one. A vts I think it was.

my overwhelming impressions from the short ride I had in it were

A. The doors are feckin huge. Can't get in or out of it in a car park.

B. It was very cheap for a 4 year old car with about 40k on the clock.

C. Feck me those doors are big.

Overall a nice enough car but a bit "Meh"

Would. Hard.

Infact C4 is one of my daily LeBonCoin search terms. To my surprise they turn up under 1500€ every now and then.

Absolutely horrible. Though the steering wheel is at least a bit quirky. Pretty dull to drive though. The looks are the only point of interest but they're awful and as Dugong says, rear visibility is absolutely laughable.

I think they look lovely these. Other than the rear visibility, what is there to watch out for? Need a replacement car for Mrs Imp and these do look cheap. Is it just because everyone avoids 2nd hand French cars or are they just totally pants. It doesn't have to set the world on fire performance wise, just be reliable.

I had a pet called Quasimodo - it was a hunchcat!

I would. Until it broke down.

Mine has 140k on the clock and other than when the six year old battery gave out, has never failed to proceed. Even when the nearside coil snapped and took the tyre out, it was able to limp on to a recovery truck.

And yes, it's painfully obvious it was benchmarked on a MkIV Golf - it still rides better than most VAG rammle (if not as well as my old 306). The only major mechanical failure was the air con condenser dryer, and as I couldn't be bothered having it repaired, it's stayed inoperative.

It isn't quick - 92bhp in a 1270kg car is never going to overcome that sort of kerb weight - but keeping the speed down has got me 800 miles to a tank, and no, your Golf TDi couldn't do that tailgating someone at 90 with its blue mood lights blazing, so stop trying.

The dealership I bought it from were spectacularly unhelpful when it had teething problems and repeatedly found ways of wriggling out of its warranty obligations.

I don't drive it a great deal nowadays because I walk to and from work most days.

Would I recommend one? No.

Mine's been a good 'un and I don't know what I'll replace it with when it eventually succumbs to electronic immolation. It's fairly worthless and I really couldn't care less, to be frank - it owes me nothing and I didn't like any of the alternatives available for purchase when it was new.

When I had* one in Colin McRae Dirt on the Xbox, I found that the rear glass roof panel shattered every time I so much as grazed a fence or landed a jump awkwardly. So there's that to bear in mind.

My dad had one new cw55 fem I think.A 1.4vtr+ It had the most dealer recalls of any car they've had. Several cruise control switches and software upgrades. It went ok for me, I drove it a reasonable amount on the motorways. Head gasket went at 55,000miles and that was the end of that. They now have a c3 hdi VTR+

I didn't mind rear visibility, you should compare it with An X1/9! A Range Rover pulls up behind you at the lights and all you can see is the bloody numberplate.

I've always liked the look of these, partly because of the smallest wiper ever on the rear screen, I may have a wiper fetish. Anyway, would I have one? probably not.

I´ve always liked these, but I would not buy one too.

Why? Because beside the cool look of it, it is just another small, front-wheel-driven car with 100hp. Looks cool, drives boring. I guess. Never driven one. But that´s the problem with most "normal" passenger cars that are not too expensive.

I love the look of the 3 door and have thought about changing my ZX for one but put of by modern cars are harder to maintain.

I like the look of the coupe, the 5 doors looks a bit of a pudding. The fixed steering wheel and interior is quirky in a good way. I think it's a shame they didn't do a hot version of it especially given Loeb won the WRC in one.

They did a special edition one to commemorate the rally but it was just an na 2.0 petrol.

I would not recommend this. Most of the running gear is generic PSA and the petrol engines struggle to shift the lard.

Yes, the three door looks great, but if it doesn't work as a car (seeing out the back is quite important) I struggle to see the point (see also: Nissan Juke).

The Jukes a good car it just looks dodgy. I've done 7000 in miles in the last few months and it's been excellent. if it had been 7000 miles outside looking at it I probably would have gone blind.

Thats proper advice there

I think the old 3 doors look great. Probably a stupid question but do they do one with hydraulic suspension? Guessing no.

Look over at the dash while your overtaking one on the motorway, you can read the digital speedo. That always amused me.

I've always liked the looks but found it odd they never made a properly quick one to cash in on their rallying success

Love the looks, wouldnt buy one. I have an inherent distrust for anything Citroen designed and made after 2000. And yes I have a C8 and I distrust that too due to electrics made of old bootlaces covered in Wriglys Juicyfruit foil.

That seems a fair swop, what kind of car are you looking for?
