Don't forget, I was on detailing world before autoshite, although this place has made me see sense and not be too anal any more, and put mechanicals before prettiness!

Was it you that did that legendary post about detailing a Dyson, complete with multi-storey car park 'after' shots?

The idea is not to put the swirls there in the first place.

When I got my rotary I made the Puma look like glass (apart from the rusty bits) and swirls became very evident. 2 buckets, a good mitt, a good wash and foam help to reduce the chances. My asda wash mitts aren't the best either tbh, lambswool ones are better, as they don't hold the grit, but I'd never take care of it properly and it would rot.

Granted, it's a bit pointless on our chod but I've got so used to it now it's second nature. Looking at the rinse bucket each time it was like soup, whereas the wash one was quite clear. I could buy clear buckets to show it more, but their £20 each, plus £8 for the wheels so they can fro, my 99p B&q buckets do just fine!

I keep having lustful thoughts about buying a dual action polisher and seeing if it's any easier, never got on with a rotary tbh, although I did buy a cheap one with shit pads...

One day I'll take the zx to wax stock and enter it in the show and shine maybe. Took the meriva the first year, it didn't win any prizes, but beaded better than any of the others, may have helped that I washed and waxed it at my grans after we drove up before driving the 300 yards to the east of England showground...

Hook line and sinker! If this were QI you'd have a klaxon;)

I've even been known to use some clay:)

Its actually a pretty good method tbh

my Clio has expensive (£40) genuine carpet mats in it and still on some places the dirt has ground in even though I hoover it monthly.

There is no replacement of rubber car mats, I miss having them dearly.

Bullfuckingshit, I got a Dodo Juice lambswool one at Christmas and used it for the first time earlier this week; it's got several black spots stuck in it that refuse to come out so I can't do anything with it at the moment until I find a way of getting the stubborn fucks out.

You should go back, you've got some great threads on there, would love to see more! Seriously, that place has way too many shiny German cars, more snotters needed! Speaking of which I'm just looking through your thread on that Clio, no wonder the women's lass was ill, that interior is disgusting.

Really? Thats interesting, I thought they were quite good, just too expensive! I'll stay away from them for a while longer then!

Lol that clio was the worst car I;ve ever seen! She got it seized a few months afterwards for no tax, no insurance and probably not MOT, so it's been put out of its misery. Used to leave a smokescreen behind too, even after I got the EGR valve moving again with WD40 and a screwdriver...

I just CBA to do the photos anymore, took some remembering to snap the ones I did for here! May get the motivation oen day! Think I only put the XM up there once too, and that was a light wash.

Beko can you pop round my house later I have a couple of large Citroens looking a bit shabby and full of kiddie shrapnel & fall out

I hoovered and polished the inside of my car, then washed it (one bucket method :)  ) and then abandoned it for the next four weeks. The interior still looks fine but the outside needs a wash again.

Might take it to the car wash next time as doing it with buckets killed me!

^ lol beat me to it. I must say some of those guys on that forum do amazing jobs of buffing the cars up.

I've only used the one bucket method so far, but I am reasonably careful not to drop the sponge on the ground.

Machine polishing is something I've always feared  - my Jag has a scalloped bonnet and peaks running down the tops of all four wings. It would be really easy to go through the paint on them. People mask along the wings - I can see how that would work. I can't see how I would do the bonnet masking though.

The threads I like best on Detailing World is where folk take an old snotter - usually from the auctions - and transform it by careful cleaning, repair and replacement of parts. A bit like Bollox or Vulgalour threads really.

Great work Beeks, looking better. I reckon rear floor mats in the BX should go on rear floors but that's just my opinion. Rear floor mat in Meriva looks to be on the wrong side, but then it's the wrong type for the car I think.

I think it's necessary every couple of months to take seats out to hoover where the runners are etc..

This.

Couldn't agree more. I'd love to do this to my cars but due to where they are parked and the area they are in it's simply impractical to do so, besides I still don't have the right tools to remove seats, in fact the only time seats have been removed from any of my cars was on the Coupe whilst investigating window failure and once on my old E-reg Sterling (which later got scrapped)

Yea the mats in the meriva are corsa ones. Fronts fit well tbh, release do the job! A mate found them in his garage from his old corsa and gave them to amy

Fucking hell, Until about a peco-second ago, I'd never even heard of detailing world!

I'll not be visiting,

My world has not been improved by this knowledge.
