I thought that reg rang a bell. Turns out I spotted it in happier times in May last year.

It came off the road about a month later when it still had an MOT so something must have gone wrong. With over 300k on the clock it had a good innings though.

Which bit of boot trim do you need? I have an assortment of spares.

Trim above the rear window glass.

They said they tried to sell it complete but no takers.

It’s a DAF.

I rather liked the 33 I had.  Sounded a bit like a 2CV but more raspy.  Surprisingly nippy around town as well for only 33bhp.

Ah, don't think I have that but I will have a dig through and let you know if I do.

Thanks for looking. Mrs6C has just found it in the underfloor storage compartment.

Suppose they had a show locally you were excluded from because you didn't have a Ford!

@Slowsilver to the rescue with the loan of his Mondeo.

A good day with 30+ Fords and my Car of the show was the MK3 Zodiac. Only just though, I loved the Model T and XR2 as well.

Did they come back with “fix or repair daily” or “found on rubbish dump” ?

X registered Mk2 Escort seems a bit unlikely. Maybe it’s living under the identity of a Mk3. The v5 doesn’t distinguish between FWD and RWD!

The Zodiac is lovely though.

X reg Escort is not that unlikely as X reg is 1981/2 The Escort could have been unregistered for a year after production stopped which is not too unlikely but more likely is that it was re-registered. If a car was written off and rebuilt it got the latest registration until 1984 when the Q plate came out.

It is isn't it? Rather lush
I thought it a Zephyr so was going to make a Z-Cars/Brian Blessed joke but, instead, have a picture.

@wuvvum Here we have a drone that inadvertently left earth's atmosphere last summer and has only just returned and hung itself carefully in a hedge!

Not all went well today with the Volvo V70!

Turns out it had blown the 15 amp ignition fuse, I don't know why.

I took a picture of the AA van and thought I had transferred the picture to my desktop albam but it turns out I had transferred a 480 photo instead. I then deleted all the photos on my camera.

Hopefully it will have retained the images on its SD card! Glad it has been found at last.

A little local car show this morning with the 480 but the weather was very mixed, cold, windy with showers.

The Yamaha was the bike I wanted to buy when I turned 17 but my dad persuaded me it would be better if I bought a car because he could help me look after that!

After my failure with pickled paint on the 2nd Manta wheel a friend Julian from the Triumph Sports Six club took pity on me and came over this afternoon. He stripped the pickled paint and rubbed down the rest before spraying silver wheel paint. We baked then in the front of our Rayburn but decided the silver needed to harden for a day or two before the black is applied.

Well that didn’t go well!

On the way back from Flowers Farm the Sigma temp gauge started rise but as I was on a dual carriageway with no hard shoulder I carried on the 2 miles to the first layby. When I stopped there was steam wisping from under the bonnet.

The AA arrived and diagnosed a split water hose to the oil cooler. He had the right size hose and soon fitted a bit. Unfortunately when I went to restart the Sigma it simply pushed water out of the radiator and the diagnose was head gasket. He towed me to FoD on his dolly.

After all I have said about the service of Recovery firms the AA after a shaky start trying to contact them were great. The roadside patrol turned up in 40 mins was helpful and fixed the original problem. When that didn’t work he towed me to the FoD and then took the wheels I was carrying for @Flat4 and me home.

9/10 with the 1 point lost for the hard time trying to contact them 4 times, listening to all the spiel and press 1 for a long wait, 2 to be cut off..........

Oh blimey, not a good end to the day at all.  But at least it wasn't a 3 hour wait I suppose!
