We going to an MG Dinner this evening, trouble is it is dark, cold, misty and in London Ulez!

I have no Historic cars out of storage, but sometimes I really like my modernish Ulez compliant Range Rover. I have just been outside in -1˚ C to defrost the front and passenger side that were solid frosted ice. It started straight up against Land Rover Law in spite of having sat for 2 weeks. I scraped hard refrozen frost off the passenger side windows and moved to the windscreen only to find it was soft, the heated screen had come on and the wipers soon had it cleared.

I looked at the fuel gauge just over half, 335 miles range left, I won't have to stand out in the cold to fill it.

I am not looking forward to the drive, but as it would be bad form not to turn up, the Range Rover is my first choice tonight.

if you want to keep up appearances, your welcome to drop the Range Rover here in the dead end and borrow REV instead  (Although a fair number of the off the shelf mechanical bits are from the Triumph rather then MG parts bin...)

I remember my friend having me, him and his girlfriend in his smart for2 a few times...

His girlfriend was quite small (we were 18/19 then) so she could lay across the shelf bit I'm the back. Many trips to Maidenhead like that, 100% always the back way

A long time ago a friend met me when I was very drunk and insisted he drove me that evening. Later we ended up as a party of 6, he had a Ford Escort Mk1 estate and can't remember why but we  used my Triumph Vitesse 2.0 MK1 Saloon. We were young and flexible, 3 in the front and 3 in the back.

This is the only picture I have of my first Vitesse (second car), but unfortunately the film in the camera had not wound on correctly.

Back when the rules were more relaxed I was pally with the lady who was in control of the pool cars, and managed to have use of a 2009 Honda Accord Estate (still want one now) for the weekend. This would have been 2010/11 ish. Ex company cars of people who leave end up as pool cars, which is where this came.from. Was also a broken volvo estate at the same time

I ended up with 5 people wanting a lift to high Wycombe so Greg went in the boot. Load cover down, then my front seat passenger found the built in sub the car had and we turned the bass and volume right up, as I slightly spiritedly drove the back roads to Wycombe 😂

When Eva or Charlie tell me they've done the same in several years I'm going to be angry and mortified aren't I 😂

I'm sure I've told the story before of when a lad I knew when I was at school managed to get 12 people in a Citroën AX.

Not a great day today!

The plan was to get my Gamma ready for Sunday's Gamma meeting. It needed starting since it was September when it was last run and moving in storage to the front. I would have taken it home but with wind and rain forecast for Thursday/Friday I decided I would have it all ready and collect it on my way to lunch. The plan was is check legal and levels including tyre pressures.

Trouble is it did not want to start. We flattened the jump pack and had to get a jump from @Slowsilver Mondeo. It started, but run rough misfiring. I got it fully warm but it still mis-fired.

It ran so badly I feel unable to take it the the Gamma Lunch Sunday.

No car stuff today, but I have taken my RC boat to my friend John who fly’s RC aeroplanes for repair as it had stopped working.

He found I had forgot my boat has a 3rd set of batteries, one hidden to power the in boat RC controls. The 4x AAs had leaked and ruined the battery holder. John jury rigged some of his batteries in place temporally and my boat works, rudder turns and propeller spins. John had volunteered to fit a spare battery holder he has but it turned out to be the wrong connector. John has kept the boat and is going to get a new connector and fit it for me.

John has also invited be to come and fly a RC plane in the spring at his club, which I am now looking forward to.

I was concerned about crashing somebody else’s RC plane but it turns out they have learner set ups with dual controllers so the instructor can take over if it all goes horribly wrong!

Just thinking about the fun and games I had hunting a persistent misfire on the Trevi.  I don't know how similar the systems between the two cars are, but it would be well worth checking to see if you've got the voltage that's expected being delivered to the coil.  I eventually traced a large chunk of the running issue there to there being a high resistance connection somewhere which was resulting in a stupidly low voltage at the coil.  I'd probably have been chasing that for far longer if I hadn't noticed that the miss got waaaaaay worse if you turned the heater blower on.

Seems unlikely that it's the same fault present on both cars but stranger things have happened, and I've learned never to overlook things for reasons like that!

This may cause @MAF260 and I to be black balled for our outrageous decadent behaviour. Today we met up at Milton Keynes Classic club breakfast meet with Maf260's Bentley Super Sports and my Rolls Royce!

Turns out we are not all bad as neither of us has a heated steering wheel!🤣
