Cavcraft 2015: Vectra, because you're worthless.

And....we're home. It does seem to harbour a hiccup/miss fire when accelerating but ticks over fine and sounds nice. Didn't overheat and was a nice place to be. Forgot to mention the dealer build card thing was still with it, and he dug the original Rover colour matched (cream) floor mats out of his garage as well as rubber Rover ones and the original wheeltrims as the current ones are off a 25.

God knows how, but I managed to miss the broken driver's door trim the other day, anyone know of a mint replacement?

that one I had, had similar damage to the door trim. It looked like someone had literally punched a hole through it to use as a handle for shutting the door!

Must be a common fault, maybe there's a weakness there in the that bit of the door card? I don't hold out much hope of finding a good replacement, but I'll keep on looking.

Came to work in it today in the pissing rain. A mile up the road the driver.'a side wiper decided to go differently abled on me. It's now doing the equivalent of a knob who's owner has just seen Clarissa Wright Dickson being back scuttled by David Dickinson, and has gone limp ant twitchy.

The passenger one still works though.

I really want to see that lovely Cavalier beside a Vectra C, just to show how cars have bloated!

Quite a straight old thing, but ABS and OMG SPANNER LIGHTS are on. Last owner said it won't rev up sometimes, then just turn it on/off and it's fine. It drove home about 2 miles ok though. 1.6 petrol, almost certainly 8V engine.

'Tis a 8v, 'club' model by the looks of it. Does it sound like a skeleton wanking in a biscuit tin? Maybe check the throttle sensor for revving issue?

Posted

Your best bet there is to get someone in a Focus to crash into it and write it off.

Nope, engine sounds lovely. It'll be throttle body or something wank, like you say.

*It is an 8V Club model!

Spark plugs...

The meriva did all of these last year (1.6 8v) and the plugs were falling to bit.. .

Nice, there is a tiny and quite good looking girl at my workplace who works in the engjneering shop who has one of these. Silver, 8v 1.6 Club model and even on a similar plate to yours. She thought my Merc was a Rover :(

I've driven a few of these and they seem quite nice. Sound sweet and seem well nailed together.

We had a silver 53 plate petrol (Cant remember if it was 1.4 or 1.6) as a company car about 10 years, It was actually a nice car to drive. I much preferred it to the new shape (MK5?) Astra's which I didn't like at all.

Does this use the PSA 1.6 hdi engine? Tick tick BOOM!! Looks nice though. What's the story behind your newest purchase?

Posted

I haven't a clue what engine it uses, I'm hoping it won't be mine for long enough to care!
