Fucked Montegos on ARSEOnline

Recommended Posts

These are being offered on ARSEOnline for about £3/400. Are these the rustiest and most neglected looking Monties we've seen yet? It's a shame that section on the site yonks and yonks ago of "extreme car neglect" isn't still around, a few members would be frotting themselves over these pics. Pictures SHAMELESSLY STOLEN

His Montego bit him the other day and left him with a minor flesh wound. So he's probably not in the mood.

We was welding up shit like that on Montegos and Maestros 15 years ago.

Shirley those are all beyond even the most talented of welders? Great collection of damp spares though.

Just imagine if they were Golfs or escorts, they'd be on eBay for thousands.

Was it £300 the lot?

Nope, each!

But there's nothing to weld

I love the way the trim around the pillar on the blue one is lined up.

You can tell it as an AR product.

Blimey, the blokes who injected all the rust in Farinas must still have been at Cowley and Longbridge, then.

You can get a Maestro or Montego in a hundred times better nick that that for £300 off ebay or whatever.

I guess it's all 'Rover' for them, eh guise?!!!! HO HO HO HO HO

I would say, out of that lot the only one that's got any chance of being saved is the white turbo, as it's a desirable spec and doesn't look quite as rotten as the others. It's still hit and miss whether someone would be willing to weld it up though.

Value of a repaired, MOT'd Montego: maybe £500 if you can find someone desperate enough to own some horrific old BL tat instead of, oh, say a V8 BMW.

Estimated number of hours of grinding, fabricating and welding required to turn any of those horrors into a car again: 1000

Minus purchase cost (bridge money, estimated £150)

Profit: £350

Or 35p per hour.

Availability of non-fucked Montegos, in the event someone has an itch that just has to be scratched: two or three currently available for between £500 and £800

So no. Just no.

EDIT: just seen that the seller wants £3/400 EACH for them. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, etc.
