Spotted this yesterday, Citroen badge on the front.

Looks like a Teihol Tangara - Cit AX based "beach car", made by the same people and a successor to the Citroen Mehari, popular in Med countries, never officially sold in UK, similar to the Renault Rodeo / Mini Moke / Fiat Jolly

Very rare sight anywhere, let alone in the UK - well spotted!!!

This is horrible.

Aznom_Palladium_(53088383672).jpg.28683e9e39ec7754effd0c592bc32c55.jpg

It's called the Aznom Palladium, and is some sort of Italian limited edition based on the Dodge Ram.

One of the few cars to make a BMW X6 look good. Or even a Ssangyong Rodius.

I'd just come here to post that.  I assume you must have been doing a similar Google search to me...

You must have looked up Palladium car, too. I just wanted to check that what I remembered about Barratt's Palladium was true, but that was the top result.

Just seen one of these.... If not this exact one on the m62.

This is an Alfa Romeo! Yes, it's a prototype for a luxury saloon based on the familiar Giulia 105 (think the Italian Job). They built a few of them (at least 3 survive)  before the idea was scrapped, the one shown above is one of the survivors. And there is an interesting feature about it -

Yes, they disguised it as a Rover; you can see what market they were aiming for.

Another Iranian special. This is a Pars Khodro Sepand, seen in Syria. It consists of a Renault 5 body hammered over a Saipa platform. Saipa you ask, whats that? A Saipa is a licence built Kia Pride. So we have a Renault 5 body over a Kia Pride, note the extended wheel arches due to the Pride being wider than a 5. Production started in 2000.

I would have liked to know why anyone thought this was a good idea and why they bothered.

I think the question is if they had the ability to build the Kia Pride, then what was the point of of sticking the Renault 5 body on top of the Kia platform?  Why not just build the Kia Pride as it was?

Citroën DS Michelin PLR, (Poids Lourd Rapide, or Fast Heavy Goods Vehicle)

FB_IMG_1751351046401.jpg.b84ca19add05cdbee0737cf10ad08799.jpg

A vehicle designed to test new Michelin tyre designs. I spotted this whilst watching one of these YouTube channels that has old vehicle tests. The video is mainly in French, which isn't a problem for me, I've mainly been watching French Dashcam channels.

Also, this vehicle is available as a 1.43 scale for us model car lickers out there:

There are no recent photos of this car (as far as I can see with my half-arsed research) apparently it's known as a Citroën ID 6 portes (6 door) Michelin. There is a central wheel presumably to check weight, speed etc...

Here is the film if anyone wants to watch it. It a shite-a-plenty in there:

Hey meyn, ah wuz  just thinking abart thuh question that there...

I reckon it was all about licensing. Seeing as Pars Khodoro probably couldn't get the licence to simply import/build Kia Prides, but had all of the tooling and presses for the Renault 5 body pressings, I reckon some tweaking of the bodywork to make is slightly wider was the much cheaper option rather than re-kitting out a whole factory or changing the workforces jobs to simply PDI imported Kia Prides'.

Mustard mitt, I reckon they can do some pretty good modifications out there:

Here is the dash of one:

A new one to me. Interesting precursor to the RAV4 and Suzuki X-90.

I haven't seen that before either. Sounds like it would have been the FJ20ET engine.

Opel also used the Caravan name a lot back in the day and I recently learned that GM had thought a little about this name.

As this name was used for estates that could be used as cars and as vans so Caravan = car a van.
