Whilst watching the old BBC series Clochemerle this appeared.

Nothing on the https://www.imcdb.org/ it does not even list the show. Reverse image search suggests an Alfa, but there are differences.

A mystery.

2003  Volkswagen Polo Classic.  I don't think we got these in saloon form like this one from South Africa.

I had one in red around 2003 I guess. Wasn't a bad little car tbh.

Somebody just rocked up in one of these

Any ideas? Me neither. Apparently it's a Corvette! A lovely mix of horrible supercar styling and American engineering & quality. Deeply embarrassing stuff all round.

I quite like that. If its a ZR1 it's good for 215 mph.

Six cylinder Marina coupe from down-under.

Very 'Datsun' front end. Shows where a restyle of the Marina could have gone in the UK.

If the 1800 B-series was well-known for understeer I hate to think how a 6-cylinder one would handle. But if you're doing 1000 mile trips on an open road that really doesn't matter.

Google lens says it is a Hurtan Grand Albaycin. Built in Spain, which makes sense as all the pictures on Google are in Spain, but based on an MX5.

Some look a bit tacky.

And some are more tacky than others.

I was warned, yet I still chose to look... what an idiotic boob I was about 12-15 seconds ago.

That isn't really a Polo as such. It's a rebranded SEAT Cordoba, which was sold in saloon and estate form as a Volkswagen. The hatchback version was the SEAT Ibiza, and there was an Inca van.Which was also sold as a VW Caddy, which I think our Zelandeth had a WAV one of.Confused yet?Son had one of the (Vario) estates. It's a bigger wider car than the contemporary Polo hatches.

I love how they just glued a badge on top of the Chrysler logo!

I think they were hoping you wouldn't notice that!

I'm struggling to find what they are charging for these things. I've found one of the MX5 based ones second hand in the UAE, that well known land of taste and style. At around £123000. I've no idea if that is more or less than the list price as their own website doesn't show prices.

There's one rotting g outside a Citroen specialist somewhere in the UK.

One of these popped up on a Spanish Facebook page I follow 'Roads, Yesterday and Today':

costa02-seat600info.jpg.04f1f7b5cf08bac0c04a01d044df5ecb.jpg

Seat 600 Furgoneta Costa. What a cool little van. No doubt any survivors today would be turned into hipster coffee stands.

On my Balearic family holidays as a kid in the mid 1990s, I saw many unusual commercial and 'holiday' variants of cars. I remember (and I think we've had) seeing an Emelba Chato and a Citroen Ami Service. Despite seeing many, many ex rental Seat 600s (they did well to survive into the mid 1990s) I surprisingly didn't see this commercial variant. The car versions were probably quite late examples from the early 1970s, these look quite a bit older.
