Aha, I saw one of these in the dark in Pécs, Hungary a few weeks ago. I didn't know it had a different name.

Nissan Austin A50 Cambridge Saloon B130 model. The one in the photo is from 1959; there's some significance about the single number 5 in the reg number, but I can't find out why; perhaps the same owner for years (in the same way that French cars can retain their old style reg numbers until they are sold).

Anyhow, at least one advertisers artist hadn't seen one when asked to paint some publicity material...

Nissan also made the A40 under licence -

A number beginning with 5 on the top row a Japanese number plate indicates it's a car between 660 & 2000cc.  Originally it was just a 5, then was extended to 50-59, & now the more populated areas use 500-599.

There was to have been a second generation Skoda Roomster, but it got axed just prior to launch.

And yes, that's a Volkswagen Caddy with a Skoda grille.  You can see why they thought it wasn't worth the effort of putting it into production.

They also made a BAW Reach:

An XJ Cherokee built under licence with a redesigned front end that definitely isn't ripping off the X-Trail and a back that isn't doing the same with a CR-V...

A factory I once visited in Uruguay had Brasinca pick-ups.  Boxy things - assumed they were modified SUVs.

Looks like a rejected design for an Interceptor.

Looks like the bastard child of a Jensen Interceptor and a Studebaker Avanti.

That looks like a Vicarage conversion to me. Vicarage have been restoring Mk2 Jags since the late 1980's and will build you a bespoke Cabriolet Mk2 and looks like they will do a Daimler to..

When a company can't even design a neatly folding hood, why on earth would someone trust them to otherwise modify their car ?

Pre-dates the Interceptor, I read that the wrap around rear window on it was inspired by the Uirapuru, which is how I found out about it

The Avanti is one of the ugliest cars every built, sure it was done my a committee who were never in contact until the car went on sale.

It was probably just too expensive, as the rear deck and boot bulk head would have needed reengineering, and that might have made the whole car too floppy without loads of extra bracing. I bet it's a fair bit less rigid anyway.
