MorrisItalSLX Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I do enjoy the servant spec interior of my Jag I also had my first proper sit in the back seat today, it's like a high end sofa, just lovely Lambs wool mats to boot eddyramrod, danthecapriman, forddeliveryboy and 1 other 4

iainrcz Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 The seats in my RCZ are surprisingly comfortable, for me anyway. I've had cars in the past that absolutely buggered my already buggered back within half an hour, but I've been on 4/5/6 hour journeys in the RCZ and not a hint of back pain. I have a habit of slouching at an angle (especially in my 508gt which are automatics) which didn't help, but the narrow seats and large bolsters in the RCZ make you sit straight which for me is a good thing. Talbot Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Not yet mentioned in this thread, but definitely my most comfortable seats.. MK2 Cavalier, facelift, not sporty models. These ones specifically: I think it has something to do with the little flat bit you can park your arse in, and then having a nice long bit for under-thigh support. The backs were just perfect for me too.. I could drive a MK2 with these seats absolutely anywhere. I have been known to drive an entire fuel tank without stopping, and even when I did need fuel I felt like it was just a 5 minute nip around the corner. So good, when I had to scrap my MK2, I kept the seats and mounted them on office chair bases. Still supremely comfortable to sit on for many many hours while in the office. vulgalour and Asimo 2
puddlethumper Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I go along with a few others and agree about 305/504/505 seats. Excellent for hours of sitting
Junkman Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Saab 9-3 or Peugeot 405 for me. After weeks of R16 drivage, I got back into my 405 and find the seats are way too hard, the ride incredibly harsh, I feel cramped and it's very difficult to climb in and out.

Supernaut Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 My two Peugeot 306s I used to have both had absolutely ace seats, as did the Xantia I had recently. 90s PSA seats are wonderful! The Mondeo isn't uncomfortable as such but isn't a patch on the Xantia's velour armchairs. I've recently managed to get the seat and steering wheel in the Mondeo positioned just so which has helped things nicely. However, for such a well-specced car it doesn't have a rest for your left foot! What an oversight. My experience of E36 BMW 3 serieses is that they seem to have fairly decent seats too. They remind me a bit of the MX-5 I used to have, in that they're quite thin seats but supportive in the right places. The worst seats I've owned? That Vauxhall Omega I had for 3 months in 2016. What a crock of shit those seats were. They were painful after half an hour. Conversely, the best interior I've owned would have to be Mason the LS400, which is now under Dollywobbler's careful ownership.
CreepingJesus Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I'm surprised nobody has posted a picture like this yet:The Autoshite answer to comfy seats.Worked for me when I had a Bedford Midi back in the early 90s. That had the single worst seat I've ever experienced, bar none. And I've owned a Panda. I've sat on comfier bus shelter anti-tramp ledges. There are hard plastic bike saddles more pleasant than that plank.Whether the beads make anything else better, I can't say: I've never tried one since. Best seats, I'm voting P80 Volvo. The 850T5 and the V70 Torslanda had the best chairs: softish in the middle, firm at the sides, so you could be comfy on a long run, and held nice and firmly during enthusiastic cornering. I did an 18hr round trip of N England, and a 23hr Fife-London-Fife trip in the V70 without any discomfort. The only other car I'd have tried those in would've been my Mk1 Mondeo Ghia X, which ran them a close second. The seats in the 765 are immense big things. You can tell they were targeting America with that one. And yet, they have a kind of French vibe to them. Like the designers lined up all the good French luxury car chairs, and went 'how about if we do that, but a bit firmer?'
forddeliveryboy Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Agree on the P80 seats, they're the only ones post 1980s which feel as if they cost more than £15 to make. Superb, as good as Saab and big Citroën seats used to be through the 70s-80s. CreepingJesus 1

SierraMikeHotel Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I like this thread. I value comfort over speed, and I feel that customers like me have been largely left behind by the car industry in recent years (not that I'd be buying new anyway). No photos as the smoke has escaped from my computer. The best long-distance trip I've done was in my old CX, although that was well and truly knackered. I've been a passenger on a longish trip in another, rather better, CX (with Talbot driving) and frankly I still want that car. My wife's company C-class is a comfortable car overall, but the seats aren't great and the dash is nothing special so I can't vote for that. Plus the ergonomics are truly terrible. We test drove a current-model Prius and I liked that a lot, but if have to withhold judgement as it was only a short test drive. I think my vote goes to the CX. Although I really liked the job Mondeo I drove the other week... Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk Tadhg Tiogar, carlo and Talbot 3
Ghosty Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Curveball! The velour interiors in early Peugeot 206s are absurdly comfortable IMO.
bramz7 Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 I've had quite a few cars now, my personal faves were: fullsizeoutput_930 by Sam Osbon, on Flickr I miss this car so much. It was so monumentally buggered though. The original drivers seat was absolutely wrecked but still comfy. Like a big worn out sofa. My 1995 Citroen AX Dimension. by Sam Osbon, on Flickr I really rate the AX seats, IF they're velour. 405 interior. by Sam Osbon, on Flickr This was bliss too. I also really rate the Rover interior, for comfort and finish. I've sold cars for that reason before. carlo, Zelandeth and vulgalour 3

Talbot Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Must be a really early one, before the radio migrated to behind the handbrake. Some of the later ones also had the space helmet ashtray where the radio is in that photo. The pictured model is indeed an early MK1. Slightly later ones had the space helmet ash tray, and then just before the MK2 they had a conventional draw ashtray above a conventional horizontal radio. Then it all went silly again when the radio was moved to behind the handbrake on MK2 models from 1986 onwards. It was a stupid location for it. Not only can you not see it and not reach it, any crumbs or general dust and detritus ends up in the cassette player. Those early models came with a fantastically blue interior too. Made a Bluebird's blue interior look positively grey and boring!

Not only can you not see it and not reach it, any crumbs or general dust and detritus ends up in the cassette player.Crumbs and shite in the cassette player aren't a problem as I don't eat in my '88 S2 GTi. On the other hand, the radio seemed to have a life of its own. Took me ages to work out that it was my elbow triggering the "on" button. Same thing happened to an acquaintance who helped drive it back from Stoke - he swore blind that he could hear voices!! Those early models came with a fantastically blue interior too. Made a Bluebird's blue interior look positively grey and boring!I only have grey-blue herringbone, but still a comfortable place to be.
Hendry Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Curveball! The velour interiors in early Peugeot 206s are absurdly comfortable IMO.Yeah, shame the driving position, tiny pedals, offset steering wheel and pedals fucking ruin any comfort from the seats.
JeeExEll Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 The Mini Traveller from the space-age. This example is a 1964 one. A surprisingly spacious and supremely comfortable grand-tourer. Given the name "Traveller" due to it's ability to devour continents effortlessly at high speed, leaving all the occupants even more relaxed and chilled out on arrival at their distant destination than when they started. This one is pictured in glorious St. Tropez in spring 1965. Keymaster 1
