Anyone want to lend someone they don't know a car

We could club together and buy him a bus ticket.....on the other hand he could do it himself instead......

We could club together and tell him to FRO. Someone needs to.

I can't blame him really. Think of all those scrappage cars going to waste!

That's a bit harsh, the guy doesn't come across as one of those freecycle "wanted : free car, must have full t&t, no older than 56 plate" types.

I suppose the question is : what is the least amount of money that one needs for a road legal car ? A new classic policy is at least £200, one month's tax by DD is a tenner and a tested shitter would be at least £200, so we're looking at £410 as a bare minimum ?

If I'd been underemployed that long, I'd cycle to work. 15 miles is hard, but not impossible, and it would get easier.

He'll just have to bike it then. if he does manage to borrow a car, who's going to pay for his insurance and any repairs needed? Hats off to him for finding a job, but in this pampered, mollycoddled new fangled world we live in, it's almost sad that people almost expect to be given something like a car.

If he bikes in he'll be able to save enough money to buy a car and keep himself fit at the same time.

Is he asking for a free car? I didn't go past the first page because life is depressing enough without reading the MSE forum.

I read it and he's not as such asking for a car but he does sound as thick as fuck.

He's taken a shift job 15 mile from home with no means of transport, then he's on there asking for people to tell him how he can get there.

He should have thought of that before he took the job, if he is that thick he can FRO

The DD on road tax has not kicked in yet.

I like the advice "Why not move to live close to your job?" on the first page, brilliant. Moving house is DEFINITELY the cheapest solution in this situation.

He is probably the fucker that keeps mithering me about how big my vivarium is even though the sizes are in the ad on gumtree.

That's just rubbish talk....

If you are on the dole these days it's the law to have a fish tank and reptiles or some such exotic things.

"......A new classic policy is at least £200......."

Just for the reference I took out a new classic policy (Performance Direct through Gocompare.com) this week for just £76.

Jeeeeez......some harsh words there eh? I've not read the post as I can get the general idea by reading the posts on here. The problem I have with this type of "please help me" type of thing is its hard to tell who is genuine and who is a scrounging bastard.

I was in the military police for 11 years but when I came out I had big trouble finding employment so I know what its like to have no (and I do mean NO) money BUT would I ask for "help" on the internet????

Errrrrrr.......NO would I hell..........and heres why. Anyone can save for a cheap motor......I did and im the worst saver ever  even when I have a wage never mind when I only had dole money.

15 miles is nothing to travel either!

I was out of it for about 18 months - 2 years and lost everything, house, car blah blah blah. Got work in the end but it was 14 miles away. I caught the bus. And walked. Then I saved and bought a car. It's not rocket science.

Problem is I've now got some spare cash in my "no work over winter" phase of the year. I want another car. Anyone want to give me one?

I used to laugh at those ads in the scotads paper.

Wanted, three piece suite, must be free.

Wanted, 50" TV, must be free.

Wanted, fridge freezer, must be free.

Wanted, four bed house for all my new stuff, must be free.

There used to be ads in the back of Practically Brassic and the like offering free Marinas and whatnot.

He should move to 2002 and get a free motor there.

Surely if he is genuine and not a complete twat one of his family members would lend him £500 for a couple of months to get him out of a hole?

Since that doesnt seem to happen, I can only assume he is not genuine or is a twat.

Meanwhile, someone who has a car but no work is complaining on a forum that they can't find employment.

Surely this just reeks of carpet-bombing the job ads without thinking what it means. Doesn't sound like he's just lost his car or something so did he think magic fairies would carry him to work?

You can get a small sub off the brew. Well you used to. You can get various travel discounts as well, although his shift is a bit dodgy. He might be able to get a wee crisis loan for a month until he gets wages.

If I had anything going spare I'd lend an Autoshiter a car so get started, but this sort of guy doesn't come across well in his post.

He hasn't had a job for 20 months, he then gets what I reckon is a factory job and might do shifts from 4am to 2am the following morning (whihc I reckon is bollocks). It's also 15 miles away. Has he been living on nothing for the past 20 months? Buy a moped and do, or man up and cycle it. Get a leaflet delivery job in the meantime.

WANTED : A car S&&**ey

My daughter has turned 17 and is now wanting to learn to drive, Looking
for a car, it does not have to be taxed, tested, as long as it goes, we
have a field where it is going to be driven, so it does not matter.
Yes i know its a long shot, but you never know, you may have a rusty
heap that your looking to scrap ( bear in mind I have to get it here and
dont have a trailer )
This is basically to get her used to steering, braking, changing gear
etc. She is having lessons aswell this is not her only tuition.

Thanks for reading this and not just looking at it and saying " a car he
