Eurocrats are at it again

It's not going to happen, it's the Daily Fail just making things up or elaborating them to suit their needs.

FFS, use some critical faculties, woncha!

From the EU site

Stories suggesting that “British car number plates could be axed by a vote in the European Parliament next week†(Daily Express) are utterly untrue.

There is no proposal or amendment on the table that would create a standard design for all car number plates in the EU. Nobody has any intention of making such a proposal.

It is legally impossible that “officials in Brussels†could be given powers to “set a standard design for vehicle registration plates in all EU member states†(Express). The EU does not “want just one version†of number plates (Daily Mail print edition). It is nothing short of ludicrous to suggest “cherished personalised number plates could be banned†(Express).

These stories acquire the status of bloke in pub truth regardless of any rebuttal.  The power of stupid is powerful.

1.  NEVER "read" the Daily Wail (or the Excuse for that matter).   In fact, you are probably best advised to leave all newspapers alone unless puppy training.

2. Just in case - Refuse to take part in any EU bollocks such as voting for the oinks that sit and think shit up that makes these stories seem credible.

3.  Don't encourage them by putting euro-style plates on scene crap.

Daily Mail, stupid idea

That's all you had to type.

All that is needed is to apply this little test to thing that you read in the papers.

Q1. Is in the Daily Mail or Express?

Q2. Is it about Europe messing about with our laws?

If EITHER of the above are true then it will be a lie.

Good old Daily Mail eh?

If nothing controversial is happening, then just make something up! If something slightly controversial is rumoured then seize upon it and blow it out of all proportion just to sell more Daily Mails and attempt to make most of Britain angry.

if for some bizarre reason this came in, would the VDUBY0 crew start running British plates again?

RIP pressed Euro plate industry.

Euro number plates damage property prices and killed Diana.

The European flag causes cancer, don'tcha know? It said so in the Daily Mail. Or it will do soon.

I can't wait for the day that an immigrant cures cancer. The Mail will implode.

Sadly, this is true. That's British education for you. :-(

ISTR about 7 years ago something about DRLs (LED twatlamps) being on the front of all the papers 'oh you'll all have to drive round with lights on, reduced MPG etc...'

You have to laugh at the (self) righteous indignation of the comments post on the Daily Bastard's website.

The whole story reminds me of the "Yes Minister" episode about the Eurosauage:

Jim Hacker's take on newspapers:

We can indeed laugh about the twats who post on the Daily Fuckwit's comment pages, and the even more numerous twats who don't post there but believe the utter cack and hatey drivel that the vile rag spews forth on a daily basis, but the grim fact is that these fuckdoodles actually get votes.

When ever I read the Mail's comments, which isn't that often admittedly, I find them to be quite sensible by the standards of comments sections, many of them pointing out what bullshit the story is. For proper fuckwits you have to look at BBC Have Your Say sections or listen to Jeremy Vine- although I would strongly advise against doing either.

How do you confuse a Daily Mail reader? Tell him that the an East European's natural prey is a paedophile.

PS:  EURO PLATEZ TUK PORE MADY!!!!!

All newspaper comment pages are the same. Some of the hatred on The Independents pages is quite horrible sometimes.

Daily Mail in untrue EU based story shock.

I liked the part about the "110-year-old British licence plate design". The current "14" plates are exactly* the same as the ones on a De Dion Bouton.

I enjoy spending a few minutes occasionally comparing the Daily Mirrors letter page to the Mail one. They're both comical. The Mail is merely the Viz for sarcastic adults. The Mirror is the modern equivalent of the Morning Star. For every "Immigrants ate my bulldog and stole its job" in the Mail there's at least one "Tories killed my fluffy kitten and forced the corpse to move from its grave" one in the Mirror.

People who base their decisions on what they read in the same newspaper every day are as daft as each other. Vary your sources

I quite like the Daily Mail. Sometimes it has a nice animal story or two. Other than that, just like all the rest. Comic for adults.

In all fairness to the Mail, they did a decent campaign to bring the Stephen Lawrence killers to justice.
