So what car shite has Santa bought you?

Car-wise Santa brought sod all. Jack Frost however extended the crack in the windshield of the daily. Ho-hum.

Got a nice 1973 Pioneer receiver, 1978 Technics turntable and a pair of 1974 Sonab loudspeakers for the living room. AudioShite! The receiver will even work once I've fixed it :D

Brushed alu and woodgrain ftw.

10 quid Halfrauds voucher and a "keep calm and drive Volvo" T shirt. Suppose I should get a Volvo now.

You could always donate the shirt to a friendly Volvo owner... ;)

Nah, buy another 740, you know you want to!

In other news: lots of chocolate :D

Eddie Stobart Trucks And Trailers Series 3 DVD set

Top Gear Where's Stig? book

some Atlas Editions repro Dinky Toys (which I bought myself, but it was only yesterday that I unwrapped them)

a mini-fridge for my office/model workshop so I don't have to come downstairs for a Yorkie and a can of Pepsi when I'm up there writing or model-building

sexy* onesie with Stars'n'Stripes on it

a hand-drawn portrait of Memphis :)

Pink's Greatest Hits CD, which tbf I had specifically asked for

all-singing all-dancing super dooper phone with internet and camera facilities

Not the greatest ever shite haul, and distinctly lacking in model content apart from the Dinks, but it's Reebok on Sunday where I might be able to score some topups.  You know what the best present is?  A couple of days of not having to get up before 5am to go to work.

Dinky list, fyi:

Bedford CA van

Morris Mini Traveller

Borgward Isabella Coupe

Petrol pump island with two pumps and an Esso sign

Not Auto but Moto related was the Mondo Sahara dvd. It's well worth a look if you are into bikes or not as are the earlier films Mondo Enduro and Terra Circa.

Have a look here if your interested http://www.austinvince.com/mondo-sahara

I've met him a few times and can confirm that Austins a top bloke so spend the cash on the films and support his efforts if you can.

A bottle jack and pack of hacksaw blades for me. Exactly what I asked for - great success.

Nothing more annoying than getting a load of stuff you don't want and didn't ask for, for which you have to feign enthusiasm and gratitude. Domestic management and I start wish lists in july/august time and strategically leave them around the house so we both know what each other want and arrange with all relatives to procure things for the other one which might actually be appreciated. The system works.

Amongst other things, these from the missus. Both 1:76 scale, from Oxford Diecast.

That's two more for a cabinet in the kitchen full of such things, that annoys her immensely. Still, it's what I asked for, so she got me them anyhow.

She's a good lass!

I got an Audi-branded car care kit, which kind of sums up how little my family get it...

Posted

I got an XM.

Of course its broken already.

Unbeatable xmas present though!

How many citroens do you own at present?

Posted

Yeah, cheers. Didn't consider that.

 Gonna flog it on the bay? I can't imagine you would struggle to get shot of it.

Posted

Well I might do. Or I might just put some gaffa tape over the Audi branding and use the polish on my (non-Audi) cars!

Posted

The lifeshine kit is actually quite good

What isn't so good are the dealer monkeys who get about 20 minutes to do the whole shebang, and as such do a piss poor job on it.

Put a weekend aside, and go through all of the bits seperatly (I presume its got super resin polish, extra gloss protection, some bumper shit, HD Wax or just EGP?) and it'll look pretty good.

However, if it's final finish is Extra gloss protection, skip it cos its crap and put some decent wax down after the SRP

Or flog it to a dealer for OMGMONEYZZ, although they pay about £20 a bag
