eddyramrod Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 Most days I'm home from work by 11am, kettle's on...
Fatchance Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 There seemed to be at least one example of each this morning in Poundland St. James Centre, Edinburgh, (bin near the entrance, not with the rest of the toys and model cars); none of the other Edinburgh Poundlands I've looked in have them. Hope that's of interest/use to somebody. Charlie Croker 1
CortinaDave Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Awesome ill pop in there before work... It's just up the road. I've not had any joy finding them so far
Fatchance Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Dave, there's been no sign of them in Leith, Meadowbank, Nicolson Street, or Musselburgh - I've been looking since the thread started and because my self-imposed exclusion from the city centre from the pre-Christmas torture to January sales period was lifted today, (to coincide with the publication of the new Argos catalogue, which I take as the first hint of Spring being around a few corners), this was my first visit to the St James Centre in ages. The bin is sort of centre aisle front at the start of the shelves; nobody else was showing any interest, though a woman did push her pram in to me, which I first took to mean she wanted to get them all, but she just apologised and moved on. Good luck. eddyramrod and Charlie Croker 2
Felly Magic Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 No sign in my local poundshops either. Damnit as I wouldn't mind the Lada 1200 plod
Des Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Can you get me some? will happily pay postage and include a pint Poundland in Hemel Hempstead today delivered the goods, still have them on the shelves because all inhabitants of Hemel have OMG town centre exclusion drunk and disorderly shoplifting innit ASBOs imposed. Will this be to Sirs liking? PM me to work out how to get them to you, Shipley / A frame / 8X train journeys dust off the thermos. Junkman 1
eddyramrod Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 No sign in my local poundshops either. Damnit as I wouldn't mind the Lada 1200 plod If you find you're getting desperate, I have some. Not, notice, "my local Poundland" (although I would expect they still do)... "I" and indeed "some". We can work it out!
Felly Magic Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Was in Poundland on Saturday, all they had were shitty cheap cars that are clearly knock off BMW's with Paramedic branding. Bumboils! It's a huge store too is my local Poundland, but they seem to be running it down slightly as they are going to be moving to another store soon to get away from Yipee It's 99p which is right next door, and 99p Stores who are directly over the road eddyramrod 1
jakebullet Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 ~Tetris theme~A few have finally appeared at Barnsley on sea... at 50p Shout if anyone wants any of my doubles. Or I'll send for scrap in 3 days. Or maybe ebay. eddyramrod, Partridge, Junkman and 1 other 4
Jim Bergerac Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 There seemed to be at least one example of each this morning in Poundland St. James Centre, Edinburgh, (bin near the entrance, not with the rest of the toys and model cars); none of the other Edinburgh Poundlands I've looked in have them. CortinaDave Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Wandered up from work and bought these two at the St James branch in Edinburgh They still have a decent selection although in my brief rummage I only found one other yellow Lada, and it had a broken light. Bought the van thing just because it seemed to be one of the nicer models - anyone know what it is actually a model of though?
Simon M Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Still quite a few in Basingstoke, including several yellow police Ladas.
Partridge Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I don't think they have the CE stamp on them, is this a prerequisite for being sold in the EU or is it just desirable? Manufacturers of anything can test something in-house and say "yes it's safe", but it kills or hurts someone, they get their arse hauled to court. If it's been compliance tested by an outside company, then kills or hurts someone, the company the tested it get sued. So quite often, products tested in-house won't have a CE mark so it can be hard to know if they have been tested or not. They may have passed the Russian standard, but seeming as most Russians grow up eating concrete and trying not to get tortured, I'd take their safety standards with a pinch of salt. Junkman Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 These are scale models, not toy cars. Hence they don't have to comply to any standards anywhere in the world. The definition of a scale model - as opposed to a toy - is that the scale they are made to is clearly stated.Collecting scale models is legally considered to be motivated by the same appreciation of form and function as is collecting art or artifacts, for which also no standards whatsoever exist. As scary as this may sound, but I'm afraid you are actually responsible for your deeds in this case, folks. CortinaDave Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 You mean I'm not supposed to eat them? Oops. rml2345, Banger Kenny, Junkman and 1 other 4
Junkman Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Yeah, you should also avoid poking out your eyes with the Moskvitch tailfins.
RedSparrow Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 50p! You swine! Here in Czech they're still KC69 (£2.20). Still a reasonable price I recon though. It was last knockings in the shop for them, but I was happy today to pick up the Volga ambulance. Jakebullet - at that price just buy their entire stock, seriously!
rml2345 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I found these in Livingston Poundland today and may have decimated the stock slightly... I now have 19 of them. How many different ones are out there?
eddyramrod Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Whoever's on the till at Poundland takes great pains to tell me that these are "collectors' models" rather than "toys"... every time! Surely they know my face by now and associate it with these purchases? I mean, this is pretty much all I ever buy in there! And I'm usually wearing a hi-viz vest, so I'm not exactly inconspicuous... Banger Kenny 1
minolman Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I'd rehome a green or other coloured Lada or Skoda, or the elusive red Yugo if anyone has them Does the CE mark mean commonsense exempt?
willswitchengage Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 You mean I'm not supposed to eat them? Oops. Or sit on them, naked Partridge 1

Just as well as I was bitten by an Autoart E-Type not too long ago. dugong 1
Partridge Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Or sit on them, naked Don't you just hate it when that happens? I had to have a diecast Renault 19 removed from my rectum last night, I must stop putting them in the bath.
oman5 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I checked BOTH Poundland branches in newport, not a sniff.
Partridge Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Too late, everyone has stuck them up their bums. dugong, willswitchengage and oman5 3
Micrashed Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Better than a mobile phone, that was the last thing I had to pull out of someones bum hole
Partridge Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I don't get why people seem to like doing that. Who looks at a Nokia and thinks "Hmmm...I think I shall put this in my arse." Won't a phone case do?
Split_Pin Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 'sake man I cannot find any of these in Cumbernauldshire Poundland. BA3STAVDS.
