The bloke who bought the toy Escalade off certainly him wasn't too impressed.

I'm seriously considering buying that 405 just so I don't have to hear anymore about it on here.

The exact opposite would happen. If you buy that ruddy thing, you'll never hear the end of it on here!

Posted

I'd just drive it to the nearest weigh bridge and take the 120 hit.

That would prolong the discussion on here by not a narrow margin.

No matter how you look at it, it's a classic lose/lose situation, therefore the desired option.

Buy it.

Yes, the escalade's handbrake didn't work and the head gasket was gone.

The toy Escalade would make a good money box. Primarily, as it's that small that no coin in existence will jam anywhere. Especially the handbrake.

One question.... what planet are the pair selling this on ?

Probably

You say that, I don't think KGF are that overpriced, they are dealers at the end of the day so need to make a profit but they aren't as greedy as those like them Purplebellends or The Doctor dealers, a mate recently bought a camper of them and seems happy enough with the service and price.

I agree Trig. I like the enthusiasm you get with KGF sales, even if they are a bit overblown (also a fault of the Doctor?). I'm not a fan of white room photography though, and the white GS van was practically invisible!

Series 1 E-Types fetch more than Series 2s, because they is prettier.

How the fugg can you tell them apart? And isn't 'prettier', or 'pretty' a rather unfitting term when it comes to describe an aesthetical atrocity like the E-Type is one? They all look like sea cucumbers to me.

Mind you, I'm just asking.

I just got a perfectly sensible response from 405 man and he didn't seem to be shirty at all despite what I thought was a completely ridiculous eBay message, so now I feel bad about trying to wind him up. Sent him something saying thanks for the info but something else unexpectedly came up and I didn't want to waste any more of his time. Which makes me have to ask, what the hell were you guys saying to him that was winding him up? :D

Each slightly worse than the one before.

I don't see why they had to ruin ours just to fit the sealed beam US spec lights in them. I was going to say something about them at least avoiding the worst US-spec bumpers but I didn't know about this:

I think the larger headlamps were also driven by the fact that the enclosed ones were hopeless. Very stylish, but not actually much cop. And yes, the gop levels really did go vastly high with each iteration of E. Oddly, I think the XJ-S got prettier during its production run.

I know nothing about Avengers and have zero desire to own one...except a Tiger, one of the few highly valued classics I would sell several internal organs to own having seen one just as good as that one at a car show last year.  That does seem to be the going rate now.

That Avenger's been for sale for over 6 months now

I know that old japanese stuff has a good following, but surely not reaching the same sort of maniacal level of Old Skool Fordz?

Right so, the bloke is an idiot, and looking at the advert it appears he's spunked a lot of dough on it. But as we all know, you're not always going to reap what you've sown.

So any guesses on the price?

No peeking!

£17,000.

It is a truly beautiful car, and obviously a massive labour of love for the owner, but it's still a seriously hefty price tag.

The only way I have been able to rationalise a price of £11,000 and rising is to remember that a new Focus costs (iirc) about the same or a bit more, and I know which one I would rather have. The Avenger is not only way cooler, but also cheaper to run (all the bills except fuel would be lower) and wouldn't depreciate. The head and the heart both say Avenger - and using that logic I think I've just valued that Tiger at about fifteen grand!

Just seen this posted against a blue background:

Lovely car.

Asking price: 500,000 Canadian dollars. Wow, I didn't realise that Canadian dollars were like lira or something, there must be hundreds or even thousands of them to the pound, right? Half a million Canadian dollars must be a few grand, I'd have thought. Let's find a currency conversion website and see.

Right, xe.com will do a conversion for me, let's pop the figures in, and the price in pounds sterling for that Lada is...

er...

£303,000.
