Autoshite regional auctions: Join in!

Warren's excelsior suggestion of meeting at the car auctions has got me thinking: Who fancies some regional meet ups at a car auction?

We could have various areas if wanted. The idea being people meet up at a pre-arranged auction, and just come along for the fun of it. Nobody has to buy anything of course, but it'd probably be more fun if they did and maybe, just maybe, we could compare motors bought. What better way is there to spend an evening or afternoon getting choked by myriad smokey old cars as you sip on a polystyrene cup of lukewarm piss/ditchwater? It might not work, but if we don't try, we won't find out, and hopefully it'll be a good laugh and make interesting reading on AS.

If people (cough Outlaw118) want to organise a southern meeting and someone maybe wants to have a Scottish or Midlands one, just add to the thread. 

 

So...I nominate Ellesmere Port Motor Auctions as the first North West meeting and would suggest a Sunday, as it's a 12.30pm kick off which will hopefully give people a fighting chance of making it. Suggest meeting circa 11.30-11.45 to weigh up the disgusting chod on offer and mull over potential bargains.

I might be interested in coming along to a local one (thinking Colchester or Chelmsford) as I've never been to a car auction but it all depends if I can get the chance as I work funny shifts.

I'd love to see what it's like at a car auction, never been but I don't think there's any around North Devon.  There was one in Barnstaple a couple of years ago but it didn't last very long.

I'm quite tempted by a trip to Cannock, even more so after seeing the video on their web page. That corrugated iron shed makes it look like a high quality operation that won't be full of tat heading straight to Hensford Hills banger track just down the road.

How far are you from Exeter? (not that I've ever checked the auctions there out, don't know how much decent shite they get)

Not that far, quite often down there, only about an hour's drive away which by North Devon standards is next door.  No idea either about the quality of shite but it'd be interesting to check out.
