28k miles, recent tyres, chain + sprockets and fork seals. Few scratches and a mismatched fairing panel on the RHS. I hardly use it except to pootle to work odd times and its overkill for that really. Plus my insurance has gone right up since my Subaru was stolen. Looking for 1500 or preferably PX for something else two wheeled with a bit of cash my way.

He seemed to go through a bad patch a couple of years ago, think he took someone on who couldn't cut the mustard

He has a good reputation with a number of owners clubs

I had 1 of his seats on my RF900 and turned it into an all day comfy bike .......

It was about four/five years ago so could be.

He had a good rep when she used him, its why she used him.

You're right, I don't believe you, but you'll never be able to prove it anyway as it'll be covered in a layer of grime again soon enough :D

Cleaned & painted underside of tank

Needs a second coat before I fit the new fuel filter etc into it.

Have another pic of my R1 as all I'm also doing is looking at it, I keep waking up each morning and looking out of the window optimistically, next weekend maybe :(

Have fitted heated grips to try and tempt me out a bit sooner.

It had better stop raining/get warm soon, first trackday of the year in 3 weeks.

Here is what £180 of fuel filter + O-ring looks like, just the black bit on the right

Fitted

And back in the tank, with the fresh paint that'll never be seen

My rechromed forks turned up thursday too. So tomorrow when it's dry I'll spend it fitting thread inserts into the cam journals so the cam cover stops leaking. Once that is done I can put the new steering bearings, yokes etc in. Might get time to rebuild the forks & fit them. If I do then the tank can go back on & it'll be running again. That'll just leave cleaning up the callipers & new chain n sprockets before it's MOT time.

Getting there, I can't be arsed fixing bikes anymore, in fact I've been like that for a while, hence the cycle of changing it every 6 months, the YBR I bought to do a mild resto over winter turned into a chore as I have no heating in the garage, I finished it and sold it but I won't be doing it again.

I've ignored this since june when it came off the road. Been putting all this off for about three years tbh, but couldn't leave it any longer if I wanted to be able to ride it.

Got my first trackday of 2017 later today at Rockingham. Forecast is shit, but got to give the recently purchased Fireblade track bike a shakedown run to see if anything needs doing on it before summer track days come approach.

As per the new thread I've got a pillar drill from lidl recently so used it to fix a stripped thread in a cam journal. That's the oil leak fixed (or should be, not tested it) on my 14.

It's getting closer to the road again & if I hadn't pulled my back moving stuff I'd be out there doing steering bearings right now.

Another plug, if you don't object, for the London Motorcycle Museum,

http://www.london-motorcycle-museum.org

According to my friend and fellow 2cver and guide at the museum Ealing council has just doubled their rent to

£30,000 a year.

News.....

The future of the London Motorcycle Museum is in doubt after its landlord, Ealing Council, reduced its rate subsidy resulting in a potential yearly bill of £30,000 for next year. Not only that but they have backdated the demand, meaning the museum is already in arrears to the tune of over £10,000!

Blaming the decision on government cutbacks, the council say it has no choice and it is not singling out the museum, recognising its contribution towards putting the area on the map and bringing tourism income to the area.

However, kind words have not helped and the trustees have come to the difficult decision of raising entrance prices, see here for details, and launching an appeal to help pay the bills for the next year whilst working on other revenue possibilities for the longer term that will allow the museum to remain.

They are reluctant to move outside London, where property prices and rates are cheaper, as museum founder Bill Crosby is passionate about providing a motorcycle museum for the capital – the only one in London. He is fighting to prevent the doors closing and breaking up the collection of nearly 200 bikes including many rarities and prototypes.

The news came as a harsh blow as the museum volunteers recently put in a lot of work improving the inside of the old farm buildings to showcase the Derek Minter collection of trophies as well as being recognised by the National Lottery who had awarded a small sum of money to the museum to allow it to promote itself on a wider scale.

The trustees have vowed to explore all legal options, but in the meantime are asking for donations, however small, to be made to the ‘Just Giving’ page that has been set up, or for people to visit the museum over the next few months and maybe donate directly.

It looks like the end of the road for my much-crashed CBR600F.  I low-sided it at a track day last year, and although I broke my arm the bike seemed to come off fairly lightly with just a broken brake lever, mashed bar end and mucho cosmetic damage.  However, I've been getting it ready to go back on the road this weekend and one of the forks is quite clearly bent.  I've tried all the usual alignment tricks and have totally disassembled the front end, but it's buggered.

As it was probably worth £500 tops in running order it's really not worth fixing (it needs a tyre and front discs too,and the bodywork is dreadfully hand-painted in black enamel).
