Lomo are a good shout though still a little over budget at the minute. Am thinking after getting soaked twice this week ill bungee my water proofs to one side amd have just splashed out on one of these for the other side after finding nothing suitably waterproof in the cupboard in the flat. 

did find a little leather pouch that used to be my grandads which will do for wallet and baccy then maybe a waterbottle holder from a cycle for my coffee mug can be lashed on too. I do have a tank bag or two just dont like the fuckabout when fueling up.

Ideal timing now that I have gathered enough parts to build about 1.6 Gilera Runners but I can't stop looking at Italjet Dragsters.

Both the original and the new one although as far as I can tell even the 200cc new one is just a bit slow. 

Anyone happen to know where there is a 125 or 180 original dragster stashed?

Either that or I could sell my Grom and look at getting a new one, there was talk of 300cc and 500cc versions but haven't seen anything materialise.

Rather liking life on the Himi. Looking ahead and maintaining full beans at every opportunity. It rarely wins a traffic light gp though then again I don't look a twat tearing away from every set of lights either haha. 

Ten week job completed today having a celebratory pint as a bit early for picking up my mate.

Started the week with a shonky Chinese moped that ran ( but bogged) and ended with one that doesnt run because not sparking - clearly ive disturbed some critical wire somewhere and wonder if there is a way of directly wiring the CDI to the battery and bypassing whatever shittery it is that means this switch needs to be open and that one needs to be closed.

The CDI is normally wired to the stator rather than the battery, TBH unless it has an immobilizer or similar wizardry it probably just has 1 wire that's earthed.

For troubleshooting, if the wire colours are owt like this you could try disconnecting the green at the CDI which should mean that it runs regardless of whether the ignition or kill switch is on or off.

That’s how I assumed chinky cdis worked too . Like 80’s jap stuff . 
But my brothers skeleton scoot and some other chinky 125 he has both had to have an ignition 12v feed to the cdi box

On holiday in .nl and I've been trying to learn the lingo, so I'm scanning local ads for interesting shite to help me learn the relevant vocab.

The Facebook algorithm seems to remember my interests and serves me up all sorts of shit old mopeds. Seems a lot of the cheapest ones have a "WOK melding" or WOK warning which is something like a defect rectification notice, normally for doing well in excess of the 25kmh limit on your blue plate snorfiets.

Also some interesting stuff we never got here, 100% would rock this.

There's more then one type of CDI on Chinese cloned bikes  one is AC one is DC, if you do a search in Ebay it'll throw up different ones which can mainly be seen by the number of pin/connectors on the CDI.

fucking lol at the insurance

so its due and i meant to ring them to pay for it cos id got a fresh card and autorenew had already said no (i forgot to ring them yesterday) and rang them today

having got quotes already cos places dont tell you miles in advance anymore you might get a week

quotes were roughly same as now tried comp and its wasnt too much more

so rang them and said you know its tpft - can i comp it instead

LOL at the quote which was cheaper than the quote id already got of which my current insurer was the cheapest

7 quid saved over the online quote lol

they tried to sell me keycover - the two things you guard with life are keys and wallet - everything else can be lost  - cos its a colossal pain in the arse if you do - never lost one only broke it

and car insurance - in my head im thinking errrr no youre a motorcycle insurer

which was renewed last month

The ol' girl BSA B50. Was my best friends bike as a teenager. Went from field bike, road bike to cafe racer. Unfortunately main owner Paul Tunnucliffe (RIP) died and his son Sion inherited the bike. He had no storage or interest in the bike so I ended up being its caretaker for many years. Keeping it ticking over, serviced but more importantly for me showing it to people and keeping Paul's legacy alive. 

After a few years of ir being stolen, recovered, stolen, recovered again. I was contacted by one of Paul's friends from when he was a teenager "who was after a project" - these words scared me as this is no project bike but a bike that needed fettling and continuous maintenance. Not something that needed changing in any way... I believe.

It had an over squared piston at 650ccm which made starting it a little challenging bit who doesnt enjoy a challenge?

If you want cheap waterproof panniers, check out the Swiss Army M90 backpack. Can be had for about 20 notes second hand.

Made from robust rubberised material (oo-er) and with more straps than a gimp convention should sort out all mounting and fetish issues.

Years of strapping shit to bikes/cars/ trucks and trailers must be finally paying off as Henry has to this day never gone down the road. There ive cursed that.

Two cans of beer did pop all over my tools on the way home last night so theres defo room for improvement still. On the plus side my grinder, drill and batteries are cleaner than they've been since new.

How do you reckon the Himi would cope with an 80 mile round commute, mainly nsl A roads with a bit of traffic either end?

The biggest issue with covering long distances on an RE would be the relatively short service intervals - if you're OK with those, they'd cope as well as any other bike.
