A screwdriver to prise the number plates off and a stamp to post the v5 you've filled out in the name and address of someone you found in the phone book pre-dated 1 week before.

An ancient digicam to take low-res date-stamped pics of the car in its moment of distress (for use on the ebay ad when you get fed up and sell the bastard as 'spears or repairs')

A foul and despicable act that would never cross my mind...................[mumbles something about an exploding Zephyr and a multi storey car park.]

Erm, I've found in my 'tool kit' what looks like an exhaust hanger from the back box of a 406 saloon... might come in useful for something.

WD-40 and an HBOL. Doesn't matter which car it's for.

I was about to say exactly the same!

Gaffa tape for what won't stay on and a hammer for what won't come off.

Oh, and jump leads.

4) Half a pint of shandy.

This can be used to refresh the home mechanic and put out small fires.

I once found half a dozen massive cable ties in a layby - they were 3 foot long, an inch wide but smelled like lorry driver piss (I called them Amy Winehouses). Anyway I've run out now, but they were the best thing I've ever owned.

I normally find that if I carry my top and middle tool boxes from my stack at work (All mine I tells ya) then I never need them. But the one day I decide to "nip over" to the next town on a whim, summat breaks in a really big "rub-a-dub" stylee, and I have to walk..... ergo I never do a journey of more than 4 miles without a full kit of tools.
