Lazy spotters thread

Some pics from the second leg of my hols- Southern California appears to be the shite capital of the world, the climate obviously helps. Pretty much all these spots were in a 20 minute window when my family were shopping.

The Santa Monica chapter of the SVM are particularly active.

Hello, Autoshite and Hacksaw, Celebrity home tours, your safety is of no concern.

Not only JRG you can buy The Jewish Racing Post from the owner.

Saw this unlikely pair today. Looked like the owner just parks up his old cars and gets a new one... there were about 5 more hondas lying around.

I've been to Oakham for a wedding these last couple of days and this morning i spotted this standard looking GTE 16v with the LED dash at Rutland Water. It's apparently done 170k!bef606d9533d6f3358c40c38b092d849.jpg

Kwality spottage.....Although that Alfa, for some reason, looks rather super-imposed like some Highway Agency montage of a yet-to-be-agreed bypass through a National Park.

Top marks, too, to that Bedford CA owner for not making it into a shit Kath Kidston camper.

My dashcam* picked up a couple of spots.

Spotted this in Dublin last week, not really shite I suppose, but old.

I would have been so tempted to swap the plates on those SLs....

Papped this little Allegro in Southsea while out and about at work yesterday.

It was in really nice condition too.

All the West country spotage is excellent.

I genuinely think the Cornish tourist board are missing a trick here.

There seems to be so much old stuff in daily use there that if it was widely advertised they would surely see all their slightly scruffy down at heel guest houses rammed with chod botherers fighting to pap a rare Nissan Urvan struggling up the hill on the road out of Trago Mills.

They could even issue "i-spy cornish heritage" spotters books at Exeter services that once completed entitled the tourist to a free fry up in the cafe at Par market.

Did one of you break your journey near Oxford today in a Focus ?

The foot well battery install is quite spectacular and obviously from an owner more used to BL panel gaps.

I'm at the docks near a Vauxhall compound.

Why is this Insignia on noncy alloys?

They're steel wheels. presumably the hupcaps get put on after delivery.

Yep, GM uses this style on everything apparently. Seems odd.

Those GM steel wheels are a nice design, they look well when painted wheel silver rather than black.

Some local '50s saloons from the last week.

'52 Riley at Malvern Garden show. Looks faster than it will be with it's 1.5 litre engine. Recent additional indicators could be further apart. Back seat doilly!

'55 Hillman Minx. More modernising indicators. These indicator bulbs were practically invisible, the high-level brake light didn't work. Seemed quite nippy (for a 1.3 sidevalve) following it across town.

'55 Daimler. Presumably the trafficators do still work on this.  Good job it's the knackered 308 Daimler behind it with a "for sale" card in the window. Local plate too.

An old boy with a magnificent beard drives this around quite regularly, mega-flat paint and what looks like Rover SD3 wheeltrims, the only other thing I know about it is that, having seen it coming the other way in the dark, the headlights are comically dim and useless.

Is that Sainsbury's in Barnstaple?

Yep, I don't often see anything worth mentioning there but there are a few quality bits of chod around the area I keep seeing but never get a chance to snap.

There's a lovely and quite spotless F-plate Peugeot 405 in light brown with an unusual spotlight grill I kept seeing in Bideford, another elderly owner with a substantial beard. Last I saw of it about a year ago it was sat in traffic belching blue smoke and I assumed the worst but was pleased to see it pass me on the way in to work a couple of days ago, seemed to be running nicely and no longer smoking. I'll keep hoping for a photo.
