Cholmondeley Sun 12th May 2013, now Northwich: *TICKETS HERE

Our annual May bash to glorious Cholmondeley Castle has been 're-venued'! Apparantly Andrew Greenwood couldn't get the May date so the show details are now:

Sun 12th May 2nd Vale Royal Classic Car & Motorcycle Show, Arley Hall & Gardens, Northwich, Cheshire, CW9 6NA.

If nothing else this will probably be easier to get to for most people as I think it's only 5 miles from J19 of the M6. I realise it's 4 months away, but probably best to try and start getting organised soon-ish. Stick your name down if you fancy it and once tickets are released I'll start organising them. Also I expect we could copy Shitefest 2012 and have some sort of rubbish 'awards' ceremony for worse car, nearest travelled, microphone wire cutting services or WHATEVS. No news on costs yet but probably about £3.50-£4.00 per ticket and I reckon it'll be great day out as it always has been so far.

Same here. Will try and ensure that I get the dates right this time and actually have a car on the road. We will probably still have the Lancia then though but would hope to have the GT6 looking good and ready for sale too which reminds me that I need to order some sills......

I was just thinking about this show last night....I'm up for it 8)

Me being dim and un informed as ever..... But being fairly new here is my excuse! Is this a gathering of Autoshiteists? Can I go?

Would be nice to meet some of the faces/cars behind the names if so...

What's the script? Etc... Ta!

Sounds good, I'm in.

Bob, yes, you've pretty-much summed it up there. This will be an Autoshite "club stand" within a proper classic-car show, which should be a lot of fun. I'm hoping I'll be able to make this. Cavette is our co-ordinator, if you think you can make it you need to add your name here.

Provisionally, I'm in.

Billy, are dogs allowed on the showfield?

Posted

Good question, Eddy and one I'm not sure of soz. I'll find out and let you know soon as.

Bob:

Yeah, just a few of us meeting up with our motors at a car show. Informal, very informal, and a good laugh too. You just need a vehicle (the worse the better) older than 1998 and then just rock up to our 'area' in the show and you're our uncle as it were.

I really enjoyed last year's bash but this year is a bit complicated so cannot see us getting away for a weekend. However, I'm up for an Autoshite-southside-chapter meet which I could get to and back in one day. I've never done the Bromley show which is just up the road from me, do many Autoshiters attend?

For those that have not done Chomondeley before, its a big show where various classic car clubs get together and have a good chinwag and "admire" each others vehicles, with peripheral shopping opportunities. Will Northwich be as good we are all wondering. Does it have proper loos and a big country house and gardens which the other half seems to class as essentials for when she is bored of me chatting about other people's cars?

Er yeah, I meant the kind that barks at other dogs but loves humans....

Arley Hall and Gardens are well-known in the area, so basically... yes! :D

Sounds like a good meet and I'm sure the three wheeler will fit right in but I doubt the Mrs will let me. Somethin about our wedding anniversary!

Hmm - would like to come although it'll depend on me getting either the Jag or the Dedra fixed up by then as the Rover's too new (1999). Put me down as a maybe for now please.

I'll more than likely go, but it will depend if a) i'm in the country, B) if the car is still on the road!

As every year, I'm well up for this. Unfortunately, I'm rota'd to be working nights, so it's going to cost me a couple of days holiday.

I suspect we'll be in the Volvo as it was the run to Cholmondeley that killed the engine in the Morris last year.

I don't know what I'm doing next weekend never mind 4 months from now so best call it a 'probably', I'm going to make it a deadline to get the Austin on the road for

If you've got kids that coming with you and need entertaining, Stockley Farm Park is also on the Arley Estate.

Sounds like a great day so I'll say yes although I can seldom plan anything more than a month in advance so will confirm nearer the time. As of last Sunday I am non avec shite, however that does at least mean I stand an excellent chance of making the 500 mile round trip without drama :D

Bromley Pageant is a gr8 show - mebbe park in the "one make parking area" (where parts of rows are still 'marked' and as such reserved but possibly with a charge for the ticket) as opposed to on an official stand (for which the charge per car was a fiver in 2008...)? Deffo worth a visit, regardless of how one manages a stand :) .

When I 'did' Bromley, it was a 650 mile weekend - and a day's Annual Leave on the Monday if possible (cue questions from my manager as to why was I taking a Monday off, did I have a drink problem? every bleedin' year!).

Happy - if long - days :D !
