Conrad D. Conelrad Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 mondeo A good example of unfussy Ford instruments. Why are so many rev counters x100 when x1000 is so much more sensible?
HillmanImp Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Sadly the battery is flat on the GT6.... fatharris 1
Wilko220 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 mondeo A good example of unfussy Ford instruments. Why are so many rev counters x100 when x1000 is so much more sensible? I remember driving Punto with a x100 rev counter once and getting totally confused between it and the speedo. I am a bit simple though, to be fair.
Morgan84 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 And having 2 light settings is a nice touch as well

CreepingJesus Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 I miss the look of the Mondeo's dash at night - simple to work with, but just stylish enough. All Volvos great and small(er).Volvo V70 - just efficient Early Volvo FM - action shot.
Guest Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 My older cars have cool Smith's clocks and soft (ie: rubbish) white lighting, but I ain't got no night timey photies of them at present. Here's the Mental Murena. Note bonkers kilometrage. PS: I am such a saddo that I sometimes go and sit in my heaps at night, as they look and (for some reason) smell groovy then.
MikeKnight Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Sadly the battery is flat on the GT6.... You beat me to it! My GT6 Mk1 dash looks like that pretty much all the time, working or not.
Jozza Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Late to the thread as usual: Rover Group goodness: Solihull 'glow-worm' lighting: Notice how the Series II's dash lighting is much better than the 'modern' Ninety built 20 years later... This one was tricky to get:
eddyramrod Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Sadly the battery is flat on the GT6.... Granada looks like that when it wants to, which is quite often and totally random. Otherwise, it's a bit feeble, with the instruments buried down deep tunnels. And the smaller ones work like the lights, ie when they want and only then. I've run out of petrol a couple of times...
dollywobbler Posted September 2, 2012 Author Posted September 2, 2012 Ha! A 2CV at last! I've just utterly failed to get a shot of mine...
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I just assumed you had to buy a Charleston if you wanted a 2CV with a light up speedo Here's a shot of the Herald gauges I posted on Club Triumph a while ago. Again it's massively exaggerated, in real life they're of the glow worm variety.
worldofceri Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 I should be going to bed right now, not outside to take photos of my flamin' dashboard.Oh look, I have a bulb out.
Gompo Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 Rarely drive mine at night and had forgotten what colour the display was. Not too bad.
Guest Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 What the frig have you got, mate? It's redlined at nine and a half! Some kind of VTEC Honda?
willswitchengage Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I am quite disappointed with the wank fonts that modern manufacturers seem to be using here on the dials, they may as well be using comic sans. Also I find 20mph spacing looks a lot better than 10, less cluttered. I miss the BX and its tongue in cheek digital dash typeface, although the Subaru at least succeeds in looking mean and serious like all old Jap cars.
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Also I find 20mph spacing looks a lot better than 10, less cluttered.I hate 20mph spacing. The problem is crowded speedos going up to 150+ when 99.9% of them will never even get near a hundred. One of the modern Astons has a horribly designed speedo, the difference on it between 20 and 30 and 40 is the width of a human hair, which must make town driving a pain in such a powerful car. What I'd like to see is an analogue speedo which only goes up to 100, after which a digital one takes over. I like what VW do with their non linear speedos. It's in 10s up to 100, then 20s.
Gompo Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Some kind of VTEC Honda? Yes it's an Integra, probably why there is a red tinge to the lighting.
willswitchengage Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 P1040010 by willswitchengage, on Flickr The engine redlines at 90mph. YEAH! Oh and the 4WD in the middle goes all bright green when you turn it on
j-j Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Hi all, Mk1 BX daytime And night:rubbish pic in motion..at rest.
Rogue trader Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 And the 407 I know gluten for punishment with the compulsary warning light where they made any other way?

ashmicro Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Still with the arse about face rev counter! Quite like those.
Rogue trader Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 They take a bit of getting used to but they do look good and at night light up a blue colour most of the switches and stuff are off a Volvo but id still have one maybe when the 205 gives up
