Anyone have any honda concerto brochures or magazine articles 1991-1992?? Cash monies paid.

You could've had the alternator! There is no way I can store it without it rolling everywhere.

I can put the bolts in a p&p to you if you send me your address.

Posted

Darn - but I needed to get it fixed, it's my parents' car and I want them to take it away! I'll PM address, and can PayPal postage etc. for bolts :) I need an MGF splash shield too (the reason, I think, for the hateful task swapping this one out) but those are 'rare' secondhand. Thankfully remade new ones are available.

Posted

I need one of those too!

Alternator not too bad a job when you have flipped the rear of the roof forward and removed the engine cover

Posted

And detached your arm to dangle down into the engine bay, and found some sort of hammer that works without momentum to bash the bloody thing into the top mount...

The splash shields are £29 with fitting kit and under £20 on eBay. Having seen the vile mess not having one left this MGF in, it's money well spent. I need to strip the old alternator but I bet I find a stone it in, the housing is cracked.

I can't send it, your box is full :D

^ Does Wuvvum still have The Rover of Doom? He may need some bits...

Ok, found it. Dunno if it's any good for you though.

It had a tag expiring(?) 2006.

Not sure if it's a CO2 or mixed gas bottle.

If you think you can use it, I'll bring it for the swap :)

If that's the red one covered in mouldy green moss, it's a magnificent creature. Well jel.

Thanks, that will do nicely, I`m pretty sure that`s straight CO2,

The Tercel is not mouldy anymore! Ran the mop over it and its not pink anymore either

Does anyone have an A-frame they no longer have need of?

WANTED - Citroen ZX Volcane rear calipers. Need 2, have found some new ones on ebay, but their listed on one of those '1 listing for 68459 different cars' listings, so I'm not confident that they would actually be correct.

Anyone got a set in the shed? Volcane at your local breaker? Or would any other calipers fit, 306 ones or etc? I literally have no idea what fits what tbh! Will I be hit by the bendix/girling issue I had with the old ZX when needing braky cylinders?

The outcome of this search could decide the fate of my car...

could decide the fate of my car...

Really? No... there'll be something suitable out there for you.

On the different makes problem - so long as they bolt on the same, and line up right, then a different make will be fine. Just remember to remember for when you're buying new pads. I had a similar situation on the front of the Justy.

Posted

Interesting, thanks! Anyone got a 306 with rear calipers who could possibly measure the bolt holes for me?

Posted

The 306's we broke both had drums.

Can you rebuild calipers or have it done? Parts:

http://brakeparts.co.uk/#!/shop/CITROEN/ZX/91-98/ZX%201.9%20&%202.0%208V%20inc%20VOLCANE/Rear%20-%20Brake%20Calipers%20and%20Wheel%20cylinders

Calipers also available there.

If the calipers you've found ont' 'bay are reasonably priced, I'd take a punt. The worst that could happen is you pay for return postage.

Posted

Could rebuild them, did on the existing ones to get the sliders moving, but there's so much rust where there shouldn't there's not much point!

Were these I found - http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=251933602443&alt=web

Would that rebuild kit do the job on those? Current ones don't have the big rubber cover for the back of the caliper...

Not adverse to spending a weekend cleaning them up, have a dremel clone with brass wire wheels and a big tube of caliper grease from overhauling the fronts!

Posted

If you get those ebay calipers in your hands and they look in good order, fresh off the car, and slide nicely, I'd grease them up and bung 'em on. Save your cash unless they really need doing, I say!

Posted

Did think that! Let's see if their still about in 3 weeks time!

Posted

Ah shit! You've gotta wait 'til payday? Time to sell another vacuum :)

Posted

Not even that will cut it, got one on ebay as we speak, but we go on holiday in 10 days, then it's shitefest! Spent out this month on the tyres which I worked out actually cost me £80 once fitted!

Still going to do the rears if this beam shit works itself out, the tires are brilliant. Almost completely solved the steering wheel being on the piss

Posted

Ace, we'll see you at Shitefest! I'll make sure you have a word with wor Will, he knows his 306 back beams. He ordered the Polish rebuild kit for his current project, we'll see how he gets on with it.

Anyone have a front bumper tow eye cover for a 1989 W124 Mercedes? It bugs the hell out of me to see it missing every time I look out of the patio door. I've taken to reversing it on the drive to avoid upsetting myself seeing it.

Thanks

Be carefull fitting a different rear beam on a 306. Some years ago I bunged a secondhand one my mate got for his non ABS 306. The beam he supplied was complete with ABS brakes. Due to the rear shoes and cylinder being shot on his axle we stuck the lot on. The wheel cylinders were bigger and it ended up locking the back brakes up too easily. You might need to fit a limiter to stop it locking.

Hi @beko1987 I'm almost certain I have a pair in stock, let me check the service box and I'll get back to you.

Edit: they appear to be the same as the 306 rear callipers that I have at work, I know I have had the bleeder out of one of them, and there should be a good RH one amongst the others.

Yes please mister geezer, if youve got a pair that would be super!

If the bleed nipples are the same thread as my currect calipers are I can rob the one left that I have on the LH caliper, so no worries there!

Posted

Don't ask, but I need (NEED!) a red and black "Turbo Intercooler" badge as found on mid-90s Vauxhalls.

Posted

I posted this in another thread before I knew there was a wanted section. Does anyone have it know where I can get a retractable load cover for an Astra mk3 estate? Ta

Posted

Two posts above - badge only came on Fronteras.

Load covers are quite rare for some reason, I got mine after a year of looking in a scrapyard for a fiver.
