Does it still have the black trim around the front to give it its name?

Nigel, was it you that was 'in progress' of buying a huge Russian limo? I'm sure it was but maybe I'm imagining it!?

If so, did you ever get anywhere with it?

Don't suppose you have any space left to rent out do you ? ..... No thought not.
Admire your determination and can do attitude.

Keep up the good work

Well thank you, kind Sir. Frankly i feel a bit left wing here, so keep a low(ish) profile.

Nigel, as far as I'm concerned, you're one of the doyens of our cause, someone whose commitment and knowledge goes far beyond my ken, and I'm always dead jealous of any aquisition you make.  Don't keep a low profile on my account, please!

Its all  Bolloxs fault -he made me do it.

That's what I'll be telling the wife, anyways!

Little bit of rust -is that screen bonded?

Other side of Brussels, A framing's illegal -but will that stop me?

A day's trailer hire or beavertail hire from the borders of northern France should keep you legal.

These things are so freakin' cool. Sessano was a great stylist with a real understanding of form who did a lot of great work on under pretty strict briefs with little reward.

A very important car, too, in its own way, being the first non Fiat-derived Seat.

I did a thread about these a couple of years ago which has surprisingly few typos

Good read, that.

And well done, Mr Bickle. That ain't no toilet SEAT.

Nigel, it was whilst I was lurking on here a couple of years ago I found this thread and thought that this place was freaking excellent, and compelled me to eventually sign up even though I lack much mechanical nous, and don't own anything vaguely shite. Then I realised that you are fairly local (I work in Chichester), and I understand that you're not one to publicise heavily, so I've not really brought it up before now. Almost similtaneously a colleague of mine who lives nearby to yourself showed me a photo of a white GAZ (I think) asking what it was and I had a smile wider than anything.

Just wanted to say that I hope there are many more brilliant collections to come.

Brilliant as ever.  These Bocanegras look flippin ace, the epitome of 1971 chic:  Fiat 128 Coupe / 3P proportions, with hints of Iso Lele and Monteverdi 375, plus a black rubber nose which marks you out as a WINNER.

Thanks guys.

In no particular order.

''Twas indeed iI negotiating on the monster in Tiblisi. My bottle went at $15k when he wouldnt even photograph under the bonnet. Total Non runner, never had an Mot, or snything remotely resembling ( cos there isn't one in Georgia). stuck well behind the curtain etc etc. I had even worked out the legalities of getting it out ,but a Yank went the whole 9. Sad. Expect yo hear of it in New York soon(ish)

The White Gaz is mine. Many here know it. Unused recently cos it's too heavy for my gammy leg, but hopefully that's changing, thanks to regular extensive physio etc. Anything else weird in the village is probably attributable, save a traction engine around the corner. If you see me, come say hello. I don't bite.

The Bellel is not progressing. My bad. Illness and a long queue etc etc. possibly not rare enough , more likely a la k of knowledge on 60s diesels. Not feeling Isuzu at all right now. May improve when I get a Florian to complete the set, currently circling such a beast near the Arctic circle. More if it happens

This Seat wasn't even on my agenda till Boll picked it up.

I was ambivalent, (cos I'm overloaded ) but the seller turned from a loon to eminently sensible/ reasonable, and I do have a small collection of Seats and similar Fiats , so it may fit right in .

Price is cheap (400 uwats) and the distance isn't too tiresome. Condition looks better than he portrays , and I have the parts (ignition switch etc) that it needs.

I think there's a lot of Fiat in it, and I suspect the rims are 98 pcd. Tells me it is all there, even the bumpers currently under the seats ,but I can't see why they are off , or the passenger seat out!

I.'ll be taking out 4 spare Italian wheels to swop them so I can a frame it home. It's the cheapest option, frees it up so I can manoeuvre it alone, when I get back. Otherwise difficult with a dead car and a screwed back.

Maybe some jiggery with number plates to make it look legal, for the trip. Bollox to the law.

There and back in a day, all being well. Currently anticipate a light resto and immed usage but that may change if I find the floors missing or mota seized etc. there will be a reason why it's been laid up, hope it's not serious.

Currently just awaiting Mot are Musso, cinque, Sana, 411, 18 est, barkas, fuego, 2 Stradas, 1100r so it'll join a lengthy queue. That's going to need more than 1 day off work.

Old cars eh!

Just pulled this ol Saab back from sunny Belgie.

Intended for youngest as an Xmas pressie, to try & get him out of the venerable XSara saloon I got him as a first car, eons back. He's too young for such stodge.

Anyway, Mot'd till May, full service history, everything except one of the heater controls works. £150, all in.

Dumped iby a colleague in southern Belgium, in a railway car park. Sat there, unblemished except for green moss, unloved since August. Can you imagine that in the UK?

Replacement batt saw it start immed, hoon around the car park & drive straight on/ off, and now back in Sussex

Taxed till July, and he's not fussed, being overseas, so ..........

Got a Seat Malaga awaiting collection, ( mint, I think, but engine probe. Sounds like a dying HG) to go with the Ibizas, and need to find a way of towing two, if I'm to collect the 1430 simultaneously

Is it a UK car or are you importing it? Can I come and see it? Can I have a go in it? Is it a 'System Porsche'? OMFG! More info pls!

Does the Malaga have a towbar?  If so, Malaga on the dolly, then A-frame on the back of that towing the Bocanegra.

Been a bit light of late, but update due soon.

Sana has had brake overhaul , new tyres and a few bits/ bobs and is in MOT queue, delayed cos I'm not in the UK! Drives well, may go into regular use after winter. Quite like its anonymous looks.

The Malaga is a lhd, Belgie car, apparently with pressurising issues. Not seen it yet, although it is fully paid for! Photos look close to immaculate, and it's sry stored in his 10 car garage! Seemingly, it covers 15 kms without probs, so I'll prob try. K seal before a strip. It is a 1500 System Porsche, identical to that in my 2 Ibizas. It doesn't have a towbar, sadly , and I haven't yet found one. It's ready to head over ,but the Boccanegra comes first. Welcome to drive either, natch.

I think I'm towing the Boccy back to the Uk this coming Friday? Ferry booked, Heading home over for Crimble, and trying to get a colleague to come with me,so we can bring both Seats over. 50/50....

The Saab 900 is on the road, being used by my son. Totally faultless, everything works, no issues whatsoever. Bit gutless for me, but ideal as a second, step up car. Be nice when the weather improves!

The Wartie was ready to head out,but has now sat since late Spring. I had sorted the brakes, got it running properly, electrics & wipers done, welded etc and sorted enough legalities to Uk register, once Mot'd. Couldn't find a use for it, so it's sitting. If i hanker after2 stroke, I drive the Barkas or ride the T500. I've an old French reg Trab out here too, but that's just sitting, till it get really cold!

I'll put some pics up when on my computer, and may add a few from the trip over, esp if all goes wrong around the Brussels ring road!

Sorry if I'm a bit quiet. I'll add some pics when I can get to my laptop

Surely you could take a 2up and gently bring the malaga home under it's own power?

We once bought an Ax 1.4 forte home from Sheffield with a knackered head gasket. We got around it by putting a jumper cable to run the radiator fan flat out at all times. We got the car with a brand new battery as the owner rang us to tell us it was knackered, but we told him we were already on the train.

Cracking little car that was, I should have left it alone really.

Edit: How rude that I realise I haven't replied to your email yet. Did the Fregate go?

Posted

Trying every which way to bring 2 back, honest! I've even considered towing the Malaga to the ferry, thrn collecting seperate.y in a few days, but worried that, over Crimble those few days may then stretch to vandalised car stage.

Forgot to mention the Zaz Tavria in North London, spotted on Ggole Earth snd mentioned briefly on Facebook. Anyway, traced the owner who confirmed that it's not moved for several years, but is Uk registered , H plate. Oh, and its Electric! I've since done some research and am in contact with the University Dept that made a few to see if it's one of theirs., awaiting info.ncurrent owner is seeing if he can persuade the batteries back yo life eith clever charging, which will determine the price he fleeces me for it. Gonna be mine, if at all poss.....

Yup, Fregate went to Northsmpton , for a full rebuild back to standard. I've offered help & parts follow up where needed. Soz.

Top work, it's been a long time since I've seen a Malaga on the road.  Are they basically Ibiza saloons?

That looks amazing.

DO WANT DO WANT DO WANT DO WANT DO WANT.

IIRC the 1.2s did not have the rev counter, it was only the much more superior 1.5. That's why I got my dad to test drive a 1.5 but he reckoned 'the brakes were a bit spongy'. Bollocks dad, you just wanted a Peugeot 309 GE for some fucking reason. Where was the fucking rev counter in that? Where the rev counter should have been there was just big fucking circle with a picture of the Peugeot Lion. I mean WTF, get a fucking grip man.

I had a Seat 1.5 system Porsche engined thing back in the early 90s when, yet again, I was undergoing a skint period. I cannot recall what model it was (Malaga, Ibeza or something) but I recall it was silver, four door and had a sticky out boot. Also had quite nice alloy wheels, a rev counter and electric windows!

It was quite new(ish) and bloody cheap and in really good condition but was bloody awful to drive! I was supplementing my then meagre income by ferrying schoolkids from the villages to their place of education (lol!) and had to have four doors and rear seat belts and this fitted the bill.

The worst part of it was its engine; it felt gutless and had loads of flatspots throughout the rev range so probably running really weak but I never cared enough about the thing to look - I think I only ever opened the bonnet once and that was the day I bought it and only then to confirm it actually had an engine as it felt like most propulsion came from gravity rather than petrol! Speaking of which. it wasn't even good on fuel...

That one car put me off Seats for life!
