I remember these in Woolworth when they came out. I bought a Mk3 "Grahame Hill" Cortina instead, but kind of wish I had the Marina now...

Great colour too...

I went to my first boot fair for over a year today, but didn't see anything I fancied.

It's a very nice model - I have the copper coloured one. Corgi made some very good models.

Typical - two offers of three tractor units and both local to me - looks like I'll need two more trailers...

Well, I've got a trailer too, and another tractor unit. They're in the 'sell box', will drop them off when  I get a chance, along with the others, if I remember what they were!

It was the Fuego and 2CV - and yep that looks like the Lone Star tanker I bought today, and the correct tractors

Right then, so where were we, after all the excitement of Friday past?

If no one else has already asked, could I have the Ice Cream Commer for Mrs Concern please?

Yup, not a bother - will set that one aside for you! It really is very lovely.

Hey @flat4alfa if you only fancy the beating heart of the Bachman school bus, I’d be intrigued by the carcass!

@Datsuncog Some top mini old knackers there!

Ah yes, this weirdo... some light Google-fu suggests this was part of a range of motorised models sold under the Bachmann Williams name, in which vehicles ran on track moulded to look like a road (not unlike the Tyco trucks).

It confused me a bit as we used to sell Bachmann trains in the model shop, and they were superbly finished things that cost a packet. This one, on the other hand, looks like it's been handpainted, and seems oddly crude. But who knows what it's been through to end up in a 50p Tat Box?

Anyway gents - I believe @flat4alfa called this one, but if it's mainly the motor that's of interest, is there scope for a 50/50 split at 25p each?

No name on the motor...

...and I believe the headlights are supposed to illuminate - but the wires have since been cut, and the lenses painted over.

Sure decide between yourselves how you'd prefer to work it, and let me know so appropriate tat box allocations can be made!

Can I have the Merc TV van please? It looks similar but not identical to the one you sold me last year and should be an interesting comparison. I wonder just how many manufacturers ripped this one off from Matchbox.

Unfortunately the Merc was claimed via PM earlier on Friday afternoon - but I'll take a look through the archives and post up some comparator pics of this red and black pirate casting against your equally illicit blue and white example!

if you come across a 1/72 Caramara Fiat Punto or Peugeot 206 on your travels, I'd be interested.

Also if anyone finds a cheap 1:43 Majorette Fiat Punto MK2 3dr. I'm looking out for one, so I can make into a Van version. Cheers.

I'll make a note of those! Annoyingly I sold off a whole load of 206s a while ago, but hopefully the Scottish car boot sale will prove fruitful next week...

This is quite a decent score - Rockets Morgan. Factory error with the windscreen backwards?

20210530_11452220210530_114527

Great shootin' at the car boot - some crackers in there.

Oddly enough, the black 'Bandag Bandit' version of the Kenworth racing truck wasn't familiar to me either, until one appeared in an eBay joblot earlier this week - can't remember if I put it in the eBay thread.

The Rockets Morgan that reappeared on the tat stall the other week features a similarly warped windscreen, with a pronounced forward rake to one side - I think it might just be the way the plastics go after half a century!

Anyone ever left a diecast without any primer/paint but just chucked some clear coat on to protect it?

Yes - polished a Gas Monkey Corvette. Looked good at the time but it quite dull now.

This isn't dull though:

I made a chance discovery in QD of these pearl paints

20210531_161210.thumb.jpg.b6a2dff8c0a0edc10bd46e03cde16e66.jpg

I thought they'd be actual colours with a slight pearl effect, but they're more like a proper pearl lacquer that shows the colour underneath. Looked a bit strange over grey primer! As ever the effect is hard to capture but it really pops.

Primer with pearl pink

Paint factory paint is very good value, but I sometimes find the spray nozzle itself a bit random (sprays a bit wide)

I love Paint Factory stuff. They do a glittery silver that is really good. Think I might stock up with the pearl as it's one of those brands you can't always find unless you buy online for £££

No car boot for me Sunday following an epic 4.5 mile walk home from the pub after we couldn’t get a Taxi. Then some tins of cider got opened Sunday dinner so in the end I spent the day as a wastrel in the garden. However this afternoon I got my shit together and headed to the car boot.

Picked this Mercedes 240D up for a quid. Not the best, one of the pillars is missing TADTS... But for a quid it was likeable enough and fills a gap.

Rest were 20p each. Last picture was a Escort RS2000 that is missing a wheel, however in the Sierraman scrapyard there is a roof damaged Escort RS2000 that could be used for a dodgy bit of ringing work!

Plus I couldn’t resist this for 50p. Didn’t know they did one for the MDI?

The Super GT base has suspension where the Superfast does not. Paint the GT base silver and use the interior and glass from the Superfast for a best of both worlds custom

Also - is that a Matchbox MK3 Cavalier? Rare M9

A couple of nights away,so I got this lot from a couple of different car boots.Luckily, there was no scene tax on the Fords 😀20210531_164834.thumb.jpg.ecee83fbad8b6b418d846b035007f979.jpg

started to have a dig through mine just to see what's there, most of the 'shite' is probably in 1/24 or 1/18 but this is the first load of the smaller stuff.IMG_20210531_180616.thumb.jpg.da9595118d2376cd5b38df12b6e7fc9f.jpgIMG_20210531_181220.thumb.jpg.1234ef4f35e51b35b50df97e41170c37.jpg

Is that a Matchbox 1/36 Escort Cosworth you have there?

Yes, Same as the 1/24 in livery, the Michelin Pilot one but smaller. One of the wheels is missing the silver internal bit/trim though

Think i have an Escort Cosworth in most sizes tbh, that 1/36, 2x 1/24 (one pictured and one in a Repsol livery) and a white one in 1/18

Lucky sod, I've been looking at those Cavaliers on ebay and they're silly money now, like £25 each.

I’d still like to resurrect it whole, would be a shame to break it up especially as I now know the motor is more common than expected.  I have plenty grain of wheat bulbs

Struggling to see from here if it’s supposed to be a Ford B-Series or International Loadstar

Nah, the LR is just a standard Bburago, the wire is just from the laptop charger behind it.

The LR had an expedition type roof, with a spare wheel, fuel cans, ladder etc on a roof rack, i still have it somewhere, they'll be reunited when i next come across it 🤣

I won the Lovejoy Morris Minor on the Miniature Tat for sale thread. Paid and it got delivered today:

20210601_102355.thumb.jpg.c8b80730e9f74f151e3e4074e0ec527c.jpg

You may see the arse end of a Mk2 Cav behind the box. The reason for this is; take a close look at the printed picture of the actual Lovejoy Morris Minor on its box...

I've had a closer look at the car itself. The box is almost like new apart from a small damage crease in one corner. The over-riders and mirrors have never been fitted and I don't think its ever even been outside of its box.

I'm in 2 minds whether to actually fit this stuff on or leave as is.

20210601_175547.thumb.jpg.5aa832bb9e1a00448f459277a9621009.jpg

Admittedly I did have to glue the box clear plastic window back on. But thats all done now.

Decided to have a go at making an old die-cast of mine a bit shiter today. s-l400.jpg.874d6ff0538b759927efb992e256e469.jpg

I've had a Solido Citroen Visa like this one ever since I was very young, but whilst I love the car, I've never been keen on those sporty decals. So let's make it a bit more Autoshite!

IMG_20210601_184135.thumb.jpg.b20f5f384e6c18b1d7229fdcbe206459.jpgIMG_20210601_184847.thumb.jpg.30fac32d822f0426435c675f829f0f76.jpg

Tada! Need to touch up some of the white paint and maybe I'll add a little bit of faux rust on the rear arches but I'm pretty pleased with my first attempt at die-cast modding
