Postie man is working late today. Other than two missing tyres I can't see a lot wrong with this Thames Airbourne campervan

I recently bought a 1/18 scale Audi Q7 by Minichamps.

I got it for considerably less than normal as these usually sell (well...advertised) for around £100+

Mine was cheap because it needed a minor resto. The wing mirrors had broken off, the interior was in bits and various pieces of plastic were falling off.

With a bit of a dab of locktite glue, careful application, all the bits were resecured in place, then the car was polished lightly with a tad bit of car polish and now, it looks how it is supposed to.

What size are the tyres? I might have a couple spare. I bought 2 the wrong size for my Corgi Jaguar e-type.

Aw, fiddlesticks.

Looks like tomorrow's gonna be the last Friday Tat Market until February, kids...

I'll try to be in early but, given the current circumstances, I won't be hanging around! Look out for an update around 9am if you've a yearning for some mini-tat; I have a Post-It note stuck to my phone with some scribbled requests, so I'll see what I can do!

The other problem that may be looming on the horizon is that come 2021, you're going to be Johnny Foreigner and posting stuff may become more difficult. I had an email from my courier 3rd party website saying I may need to fill out endless paperwork to send stuff to NI next year, hopefully there won't be too many hoops to jump through

Posted

The way things stand, there'll be no bother with me sending stuff across to you folks in GB - that's guaranteed by both the Common Travel Area and the Internal Markets Bill - but there certainly could be potential issues with sending stuff over here, as it'll be possibly classed as goods arriving into an EU-aligned state from a Third Country.

In practice, issues (if any) will likely be limited to declaration forms stuck to parcels coming into NI advising that they're non-commercial, with sender's self-certification of value. There's waaaay bigger issues than domestic mail on the table - though that's not to say it might not suddenly become a problem, if contingency procedures haven't been properly thought out.

I understand that Royal Mail's putting all their  prices up yet again in January, so that's another thing to keep an eye on.

Don't try posting me any haggis though, it'd probably spark an international incident.

If there is any stray Lone Star Firenza in the 50p tat box,you can put my name on it.Thanks Mr Cog.

@Datsuncog hopefully you can swing past the shop with the Husky VW luggage elevator too, before we all go into lockdown again?

Well, the darkest hour is just before dawn, as they say...

1685464563_IMG_20201218_0746192.thumb.jpg.16de6dd1a1ca2c777d084229a51c0563.jpg

And it sure was dark this morning. And wet.

1918438239_IMG_20201218_0754322.thumb.jpg.bd8b3cc8ca36bfd8cd67dcdfd818ff48.jpg

But, the days are on the turn in just a few days and maybe, maybe, we can all keep on keepin' on.

1282524580_IMG_20201218_0759332.thumb.jpg.4899907b0a076e4941c3e44c80c60e0d.jpg

The Tat stall was in situ...

IMG_20201218_082916.thumb.jpg.96081c9076a638a20ce96c8cbfc7e29b.jpg

...but I should probably get the undeniable fact out of the way that nothing from last week was on the stall this week, much to my (and no doubt your) chagrin.

But there was still stuff, fear not...

1096718872_IMG_20201218_0802412.thumb.jpg.bef40eea80a80638ec5a59a7e61192da.jpg

Tat, and tat aplenty.

I was pretty stoked by the Corgi Ford Transporter, but it really wasn't all that good - rubbish repaint and plenty of broken bits. I grabbed it, I dithered, then I put it back.

665797596_IMG_20201218_0810562.thumb.jpg.86a5ecfada6a51cd0d6beb377f21f368.jpg

Good to see the Polistil Jag put in a return appearance for the festive season. Dinky Gran Fury taxi not in great nick.

1776833081_IMG_20201218_0803482.thumb.jpg.e94aa6523adcfbf4ceee0fa1033b27dc.jpg

Boxed buses there were, but not the same ones as last week!

While I waited for Market Blokey to get his various boxes unpacked, I was dismayed to see The Nemesis scuttle off to the side with a brimming shoebox of diecast, which he and a chum started to riffle through. And my horror expanded as I saw him pick out, amongst other things, a Lada Samara and Moskvitch 412... original Soviet stuff.

Well, dagnammit.

I stood for a bit, quietly incandescent, then as he moved off I fell on the box like a hyena after the lions have had all the best stuff.

Man, I gotta start sneaking in the side door.

In fairness, most of what was in there was a bit rubbish - Days Gone, MoYs, EFE trucks, some dusty Corgi Classics vans.

389445450_IMG_20201218_0808162.thumb.jpg.e8155b8f7aebda2a4a3def2193e1109f.jpg

There were a few Corgi police Chevrolets - but not the ones @eddyramrodwas after, sadly.

Bus-wise, we had a few similar vehicles to last week, but not identical:

166893347_IMG_20201218_0812202.thumb.jpg.5882da0d4a3340ed4b3a3e8b18d93995.jpg

I know @Split_Pinwas interested in the gold Dennis Trident - but would either of these be a suitable replacement?

1015339497_IMG_20201218_0823012.thumb.jpg.918673f3d3c850ced4e73f4084c53b8d.jpg

Equally, @Rover414had asked about a pair of Leyland Victories - neither was in situ, though there was this...

504600449_IMG_20201218_0904382.thumb.jpg.3e567d497ae3377b4e5bf4095bfec7a2.jpg

No manufacturer shown for either vehicle or model, but it looks similar... any interest, at a fiver?

380183075_IMG_20201218_0812352.thumb.jpg.a16d5aabed329dce9e2eb41508dd79a0.jpg

There were also these somewhat flashy Y2K special editions...

1986027114_IMG_20201218_0826472.thumb.jpg.e5973ac22e48cd9a1ac5adf08591632b.jpg

And a tray of dusty, unboxed buses too.

Mostly OOC and EFE efforts, though some all-plastic Chinese stuff too.

These were £3 each.

And there was a little bit more:

118335506_IMG_20201218_0819502.thumb.jpg.a8c4520359557d1e4639641f41bea553.jpg

Some of the incomplete Spot Ons from October, and some Dinky stuff.

And a couple of old handbooks:

1769681251_IMG_20201218_0819552.thumb.jpg.787d08aa6e74d32480e585e5967ccb91.jpg

Mini and Avenger one lurked beneath, and also this:

957965117_IMG_20201218_0825012.thumb.jpg.0963c5af555a53085dddb4a34a794c10.jpg

Pretty much mint, with all dealer paperwork and a local address on the service log.

Chod-tastic.

I took a spin round the other stalls, but not much there to engage - Alan's Emporium and the Charity Stall both had zero diecast.

Paddy's was... same as ever. Nothing's shifting. Funnily enough.

1861964997_IMG_20201218_0833022.thumb.jpg.6a856449ada6a333f6984ad0259d443b.jpg

The Giffer stall next door did still have some of the diecast highlighted last week, and I was indeed a victim of temptation...

1109602476_IMG_20201218_1224032.thumb.jpg.402daf202af55114708abf935375011b.jpg

And so, with crowds building, I grabbed a coffee and got the hell outta Dodge.

Then went to sit in the car and do some photo cropping.

832067514_IMG_20201218_0852352.thumb.jpg.76ea51b9957315d76dc43293cfa57950.jpg

So I did manage some finds...

46992192_IMG_20201218_0824152.thumb.jpg.f69bb932bf62bec443263ccb50493619.jpg

...mainly along CCCP lines.

Yup, that's a UAZ 469, a GAZ 13 'Chaika', a UAZ 452 'Loaf Van' (missing a back axle, annoyingly), ANOTHER ZIL 117 (what are the chances?)  and a Moskvitch 2141 'Aleko'.

ZIL is available at the fiver paid, since it's a duplicate - I'll have to have a think about the rest!

And also these, as I'm a sucker.

2102821276_IMG_20201218_0905243.thumb.jpg.40b0890e863988a1410076aaf37bf71f.jpg

Now, I gotta hop off to the dentist but if there's anything anyone fancies, I may be able to nab it on my way back, in an hour or so!

Catch you on the flipside, tat-hunters...

Shame about the Chevrolets.... what's underneath the two black ones?  Also, how much each are the contents of that box, because if they're going to be cheap enough, I spy an A35 van; I want one to repaint.  And I'd be up for that RAF Morris van too...

Cheers Tim, those Tridents are Duple Metsec ones and the gold one was Alexander ALX 500.

Could I trouble you to check the loose China Motor bus please as I think it's an ABC?

The boxed one is by Collectors Model, I have that one, it's a nice piece and good value at a fiver.

Underneath the Chevys was a Corgi Minor van, a Days Gone VW T1, a Corgi Bedford CA ambulance, and a Lledo Vanguards Anglia panda car.

He charged me a fiver each for the Russki stuff out of the box, but possibly charging less for the more common British models... If I could get the A35 and Morris J for a fiver the pair, would you be up for that?

Will do - I thought it was the same as the boxed one, but now I look closer it's very obviously not!

I like the Chaika and the one to it's right, I think it's a UAZ? I used to have the former but stupidly sold it on! I'd be interested in those if you were willing to part with them!

Yes that's the one. It's a superior model. I have quite a few other ABCs, the Rolls Royce of bus models back at the turn of the millennium!

I can certainly find out - I paid £5 for the wonky police version, but that was probably a bad move...
