^ Can I buy the blue one pretty please

I think I sold it already, sorry. Got to pay for the other crap I buy somehow! I was trying to get all the original 16 cars a few years ago and sometimes found better versions of ones I already had.

Here's a couple more examples of small tut I grabbed from the 50p tub:

I had one of these Majorette Transit tow service things back in my days of collecting scale Ford Transits, more for the sake of completion rather than the fact that I actually like them. For one, the weird flared body mismatches the standard width rear axle and the casting itself is far too tall and narrow, although the minibus version is somewhat less irksome - and I did appreciate the sliding side door of the one I had, even if it was a hideous light metallic green.  Back to the red wrecker above though, I'll give the tow mechanism some credit, as it folds away nicely, so again, a nice bonus.

The Dynarod orange one being towed possesses no such feature and so is even more of a disappointment but again, I was vicariously buying for other shiters - can't knock an undamaged 90's toy for the price of a Mars bar, can you?

Posted

I think they’re modelled on a Transit Flareside. A really pointless pick up type thing they did in the early 90’s.

Transit Flareside body 'appendage' is like this and was new for the 1995 facelift

The Majorette is modelled on the 1986–1995 Transit

Perhaps one of the Belgian factory bodies?

The Majorette Transit wrecker is based on  the Transit Tug concept vehicle, surely?

Looks very smart now

Looked it up.  So Corgi released this as' VW Double Trouble Hot Rod' in 1971, the very same year Hot Wheels released the very similar 'Evil Weevil''.  Identical in concept, who came first?

Do you have an Evil Weevil for Eddy to compare with?

Evil Weevil (1971) | Hot Wheels Wiki | Fandom

Sadly not, never had the Evil Weevil.

It does make you wonder was there idea sharing between companies.

Gave us plenty of cool toys to play with though

Got the 33 done, not 100% happy with the grille but I'll attend to that later

I think they modelled it on a Renault Trafic, looks more like one than a Transit.

Today's photo - more 50p tub pickings:

Random spot check scene, to make sure that the Morgan is taking an essential journey. Fortunately, they'd been to the supermarket but then realised that taking a Morgan was not a good idea, as they couldn't capitalise on the mass stockpiling of toilet roll.

Anyway, neither of these float my boat much but they're both in very good nick, so I bought them to pass on to others, when trading can become a thing again - I'm not sure what international postage is like and it looks like my trip back to the UK in May/June is a smidge unlikely....

in that case yes please to the morgan- the one i got for swaps with a school mate didnt have a roof

Sure, do dibs the Morgan but you may have to remind me when I get things sorted for a sale. Plus, you may have to wait (unless you fancy paying overseas mail!), as I'm likely to be cancelling a UK trip until 2021.

Here's yet another 50p tub find:

49651152971_368d1cb7eb_b.jpg

Slightly gawky headlamps and accentuated speed-lean windscreen (i.e. bent back a bit) but again, I couldn't leave it for so little. My brother had an identical early 80's issued one and I later bought one new in the 1990's, which came with a BRG XK120 in some shiny Jaguar double pack thing, with shiny plastic Jaguar badge. Quite how arguably the prettiest Jaguar ever could be made to look so ordinary is anyone's guess but top points to Matchbox on that front. There's some nice details in the chrome and seat colour but the wheels do it no favours (let alone the spare being much smaller), plus it's just so red.

The separate bonnet thing also confused my young mind, as it looks like it should open but it clearly doesn't. Anyway, I've had the faintly nostalgic fix of running a finger nail under the bonnet gap to try and open it once more, so it can go in the sale pile. Surely with a repaint and the right wheels, this could look a decent little thing.

The model supplies replacement ladder just 'sits' on top of this, doesn't clip on. Does anyone know how the original ladders were secured? Could glue it on...

Maybe glue it or blu-tac perhaps?

Looking at all the mint and box originals I can find photos of, there doesn't appear to be any clips or lugs on the ladders.

It must be they were always loose.

I'm running out of MK4's if I can get my mojo back I'd like to do a shell like my 1/43 MK3 (there's pics of my collection somewhere in this thread).

It's harder to get detail into these I usually do 1/43 or bigger but their harder/ expensive to buy to chop up.

Any way here's some pics of the other modded mk4's.

Never been happy with the rear view of the EST.
