It's now been tarted up.

It's a cross between a Corgi 23 and I think a Corgi 25v.  I was surprised to find no filler. Instead there was what looked like solder. I think this may have been modified before plastic filler was a thing.

While I had the red paint out the Galaxie that I got from Eggs Industries had a makeover.

Another little project, this time red paint removal.

Then a white respray to make a replica of my work van.

Later I'll add mud weathering to make it really look like my van.

Yup - only once. A fella I knew in Bristol who worked at Direct Line had one; they were definitely given out to staff, possibly customers too at one point?

Nice curio, box looks in top nick too!

Or too far gone?

I'd kinda like to see you work your tailgate-sculpting magic on this one... never seen a Lite Ace in anything other than a garish factory paint job.

Risked life and limb to go out and collect this weighty tome earlier:

20200322_144319.thumb.jpg.826561282fa5c556e67c3f938e979b0d.jpg

At the point I ordered it a few weeks back, I thought I'd be at work when it arrived so had it delivered to a CollectPoint shop down in the town centre... so after prevaricating for a few days, I ventured out earlier to retrieve it - then rubbed it over with a disinfectant wipe and left it sitting in the sun for a few hours to aid UV decontamination. As you do in these peculiar times.

But what a book! Nearly 500 pages covering 54 years of production in mind-bending month by month detail, plus some fascinating inner-sanctum memos and prototypes, all written by Corgi's former chief designer and featuring the models from his own collection.

Not all that cheap, but what better way to spend a few weeks of enforced indoorsing?

Will hopefully look better once tidied, filled & painted

@bunglebus

Yes I had one! For some reason, a tennis or badminton related school visit ended up with us all being handed those, although I can't remember if they were boxed or not. Made the Direct Line jingle too. This would have been nearly twenty years ago.

Really not sure why we were given them.

Nice job on that tailgate so far.  If you hadn't already put the effort in I would have recommended a cut and shut with a caravan to make a camper out of it, something I've been planning to do with some of the duplicates in my own collection.

Christ that reminds me that’s how I got one (or two rather - the kid next to me in class didn’t want his...) we had some sort of tennis academy, and at the end we were given them, no idea why. I’m in my mid thirties at a guess this would have been about 95/96?

Dominic has done his first refurb/repaint on this Kidco Honda Accord. Different wheels (a bit Retro Rides) and bright red paint. Not bad for a first attempt

I was going to suggest cutting it down and doing something along the lines of the Nissan Civilian in The Gods Must be Crazy

Kind of love those Matchbox Direct Line 'phones. I don't want one as such, but am really glad they exist.

This just went for £14.50 on the bay. Methinks the Norev bidders are all off work. It is nice though, but I do already have one, so didn't want to be a hoarder...

That's probably £3-4 over par.

I'm going for a harvest yellow with a blue or orange stripe, depending on what I decide.

I've managed to make some glazing for both the broken side window, and the new tailgate.

Also found some different wheels at the old ones we're pretty mangled.

Coat one of paint on it, will try to be patient and not attempt anything else until tomorrow.

Got into a MINI mode recently. Just as the Corona virus thingy was unravelling, I landed myself a temporary job at an office in Birmingham. A lady who sat at the desk opposite was a fan of MINIs and had a 1/18 scale model by Motor Max on her desk. As corona got worse most of the staff were sent to work at home. I temporarily 'adopted' the green MINI as a desk ornament for the last few days I was there and gave it a good clean as it was very dusty.

It inspired me to buy one, I bid and got one for £10 delivered:

20200323_175441.thumb.jpg.62575b6955df8b382818b3fc36abfb92.jpg20200323_175501.thumb.jpg.695ff253556a5d8ce1b4533816c2f252.jpg20200323_175454.thumb.jpg.937b9d766b1f1496d9587a41d7fda964.jpg

Mine is a 1/18 scale by Burago. The interior is a bit more detailed than the Green Motor Max one, the scale on mine seems bigger than the Green one plus the shape is more realistic than the green one. Mine also has realistic looking brake discs.

If you're wondering about the Blue car:

1/18 Citroen DS that I got given by a mate some years ago. Needs a hubcap.

Think I might have to find a way to get all my die cast customising stuff to my G/F's place where I'm staying, from my flat which I haven't stayed at for months. Got all my boxed cars here the other day but I'll go mental without anything to do for the next few weeks/months. My flat is literally next door to Asda, think I need some shopping ;)

If this is a Solido like mine is, my favourite feature is the sliding knob on the chassis that raises and lowers the suspension.

A die-cast with no boot?

Sounds like a job for...... Back Door Man!

Da da da daaaaah!

I seem to see a lot of bootless Renault 5s like that. Anyway whilst it’s on lockdown I’m going to get on with my VW Caravelle conversion, it’s a Matchbox VW Transporter Ambulance that I’m going to make into a domestic camper.

I've just started a little sorting-out in my office/model room (front bedroom) and found a biscuit tin filled with broken and abused diecasts.  I'll take some photos in a bit and bang them up on my sales thread.

Thanks for that.

Now I've got to buy one...
