Couldn’t you use some JB weld or Araldite to hold it?

Possibly. I might just glue the whole boot shut, I think we can live without the extra play value!

I'm not sure if the raised rear is correct or not but it's safe to say that most weren't like that by the end of their lives. I like attention to detail - the bumpers look excellent, for instance. Some decals may be a little too large and the number plate font is an honest attempt but slightly off, though that really is nitpicking. The guy at the shop was using low online start prices to try and shift some stock, which backfired in this instance, so he's knocked that game on the head. I'll admit that I have since bought another Corgi Vanguard from him (at more realistic prices but still favourable compared to Ebay), so watch out for that exciting installment at some point!

Great buy, especially at that price! I like that variant of the Astra. I remember those original SRs driving about and the size of the decals is about right. I agree about the ride height, presumably it's due to there being a 1.3 Merit police version of that casting. I have the 16v GTE version and it's even more pronounced,

No real-life GTE I ever saw sat that high at the rear!

Any of these of interest? The Skyline is a really nice heavy period Tomica Dandy and is pretty much mint, so wont ge pennies. Would rather the HWs went in one lot

Possibly best Astra Mk2 model was the 1/24 Guiloy model. Only issue was being Spanish it was the Kadett GSI.

Picked up this Transit as my older brother had one and I always coveted it. The permanently lowered body side was always a bugbear but that's because the plastic crate to load on it was long gone by the time I was playing with my brother's version

Look what I found sitting spare and unloved in my chod spares box....

Decal is a bit scuffed on one side, but still.  Opportunity* to find another decal of choice.

I do need a Matchbox Beach Hopper/Baja Buggy/Beach Buggy to use as a donor for a top secret project though...

I have this pair.

The one with the extra heavier JACKSON POLLOCK PAINT EFFECT has hopped the driver out though.

IMG_1384.jpg

Ideally, I'd want to put the extra Pollocked body onto the best Rolamatic base and keep the driver driving.  The remains of the other can go towards secret projects and the like

I like the GAMA one as they did a 5 door LS.

@flat4alfa - Acadiane and 959 please? Sure we can do a deal with those Beacons I'm waiting on from Model Supplies. Please could you hold those two until the beacons arrive?

So, of course, I picked up those hot wheels! Most will be re-sold I expect!

Hey, Fido seems to have escaped from my Cherokee. Bad dog.

What wheels are they on the 127? I have two, each with different styles, and neither like that.

The jacked-up Cherokee is quite rare with the dog in it,it seems they removed it from the interior.I have got one earlier low Cherokee I've had for many years, but when I found it,I remembered that I cut the dog out as I didn't like it in there ?

The Fiat has the earlier wheels, they have a separate centre which sometimes falls out.

Where is dog?  If it's in the parts bin still, I could pop it in something else.  Poking its head out the back of a Matchbox Mercury Villager, maybe

It was over 30 years ago,so the chances of finding it are fairly low ?

Just a thought, maybe you could get reproduction dogs for the Matchbox Ford Kennel Truck & use those?

OK a few new motors have turned up. First of all, this Dinky Rover SD1, with pleasingly accurate wheel trims

Last one send to me off here is this fake Sand Digger. Not the one I had as a kid, very likely a copy of a copy as there's no need for the square hole in the back. Think this one is meant to climb up walls with the sticky roller built into the base

Massive thanks to @barrett for yesterday's parcel arrival (and beautifully packed, I might add): a real nostalgia trip here:

20191130_224711.thumb.jpg.7faf2e1be6390263ac81dc8a01c0fc89.jpg

Vitesse models, and specifically that speckled grey box with the mirror-effect backing, give me a bit of a rush back to the late 80s/early 90s when I was making the leap from Corgi and Matchbox toys into the world of more adult-oriented models...my local model shop kept their Vitesse models in a locked case, which was the first inkling that these were a bit more special than the Corgi Classics, Solido and Bburago models which just lived on a wooden shelf.

The Fiat 500 with (Lambretta?) scooter set was very appealing to me as a ten-year-old, but much as I craved and coveted it, there were inevitably other models vying for my pocket money and space on my birthday wish list... and sadly the Fiat never quite made the cut.

I can only assume it eventually sold, as no doubt I would have snared it once I got a Saturday job in the same model shop, and ran riot each week with my staff discount...

The 2CV is kind of a replacement for another Vitesse model I did have - a plain grey 50s 2CV with a somewhat bulbous boot extension, which I seem to remember was a Christmas gift from my grandparents.

Annoyingly, I didn't just collect these models but enjoyed handling them and setting up little dioramas (as well as taking them apart with my mini-screwdriver set) - and it was during one such adventure that I managed to break off and lose one of the Cit's headlights, much to my chagrin. I did the same thing with the three-pointed star emblem atop the grille of my Mercedes 600 Pullman (also by Vitesse). *Sigh*.

But this 2CV isnt just any 2CV - it's a 4x4 Sahara. That's right, the twin-engine jobber built to order for French oil companies and the like for working out in the North African desert. For this car, 'Sahara' wasn't just a cutesy lifestyle name.

20191130_224637.thumb.jpg.3d71f5736adc9aadd42a421f82793974.jpg

https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2016/06/02/is-citroens-2cv-4x4-sahara-the-most-innovative-off-roader-ever-built/

I kept buying Vitesse models for a while longer, though sometimes the quality control seemed a bit off and that annoyed me.

I remember buying a Wolseley Hornet and being greatly irked by the collapsed rear axle; equally a Renault R4 suffered a weird lopsided stance too plus paint flaws that couldn't be seen in the shop's case. The arrival of Lledo Vanguards seemed to offer better build quality for similar money, and so I gravitated towards them...

By the late 1990s, as my tastes had become more refined and I was able to stretch to more detailed models by the likes of Minichamps and Trofeu (with their tiny separate windscreen wipers and wingmirrors), cars by Vitesse, Solido and Corgi Classics just started to look a smidge crude.

I'd also stopped carrying them around with me, which probably helped their longevity - the memory of dropping a freshly-unboxed Corgi Classics Mk1 Cortina down a flight of stone steps at Powerscourt still makes me wince... clonkety clonkety clonkety clonkety...

But there's still a lot of charm in these little models, and it's great to finally have them in the collection!

A winter project might be to finally get all my 1/43 models down from the attic and see what I still have...

Following on from the recent discussion of bodies cut out to accomodate superfast wheels, I've compared my Mercurys to find  the bodies are the same. Apart from the different wheels and the base casting, the superfast car sits slightly higher and its blue light is taller than the original's.

For sale if anyone's interested. £1.50 + £3 UK postage for both.
