Proper ‘Made in England’ Lesley next:

All the ‘65 Galaxie talk over the page got me seeking out my old one. Here it is, sporting the similar smashed roof light treatment. It has a complete undamaged casting though, with an intact interior including the Cop driver. This could be up for donation to the Galaxie restoration cause. Hit me with your best swap, etc

The ‘64 Impala reads ‘Chevrolet Impala Taxi’ underneath. What I really want to know is why our Galaxie Cop is moonlighting as a Taxi driver, as it’s definitely him in there too !

/ Edit: I’ve just remembered that Mr Egg gifted me that Britain’s Land Rover at Festival Unexceptional... Therefore, Galaxie has to be gifted back in return!  That is, if it is still required

Thanks for the offer, but I'm ok, I ordered decals and a new transparency yesterday from model supplies :-)

Does anyone know if the Escort (E105) in the Corgi catalogue @bunglebus posted was actually produced? It appears to have black windows, plastic bumpers and seems to have arches/front valance cast into the body aka RS Turbo?

It looks like a Series 1 Turbo but the catalogue is 1981 and the Series 1 came out 1984?

Perhaps the one in the catalogue is a prototype? Non opening doors and black windows...

Likely a pre-production example. I have one of these in my collection that has never (to my knowledge) been apart yet has different wheels on each axle - ISTR it's ten spoke on one axle and five spokes on the other.

Really? Any pics?

Really.

I've got a good idea where it is but we're staying with my mother in law just now as we're getting rewired... I need to pop past the house later so will dig it out. Sure it's that pale green colour too.

I should add it's not the black window one, just a standard casting!

If the Merc (isn't it a W123?) is a diesel then my money's on the Bedford.

The Alfa Carabo is a new one on me with those stripes, and a red Hot Rod Jeep?

I picked up a 'Big Banger' on Sunday similar to that 'Bazooka'...

I've somehow never seen the BMW 3.0CSL before. I'd like to restore one of them.

I really dig the Souvenir series, especially the Riley ashtray.

I've had the K23 lowloader (just the trailer, not the tractor unit or the bulldozer) since I was still shitting myself (at the age of three for the avoidance of doubt) and I was very interested to see what bits I didn't have.

Big Banger is smaller scale, it's on page 5 in the catalogue as No.26

The souvenir things still pop up in the charity shops especially when some old fella has passed away. Almost universally they stink of tobacco.

Got the 1973 USA edition done too - not sure how much difference there is to the UK version? I know later there were some US-only editions of some of the castings

Not sure how much of a champion racing driver you’d make by revving the nuts off it in fourth and then dropping the clutch.

I always found those kind of things silly. But then I was probably* a very irritating child.

Can we have a little chat about the Fiat 500 and the 2CV...?

Yes. I'd like a tenner for the Fiat/scooter set. Box is tatty and the stand for the scooter has gone walkabouts, but the models are mint. 2CV is pretty much perfect apart from the headlamps pointing in different directions. Fiver for that? PM me if that sounds reasonable.

Despite objections from MrsR, my Paypal money coming in from sales to Shiters is getting spent on more models.  Not all of it, but I can't really tell her I've bought her Christmas presents with it...  Recent arrivals include a Saab 9-5 estate which is now in the paintshop as it came in silver.  The one I won in an AS Roffle and subsequently used on Huggy's collection mission was navy blue, and the model is now also blue, just some detailing to finish.  I'm not bothering to convert it to RHD though.  Also in the paintshop for the "Cars I've Owned" section is a Corgi Juniors Metro, now red with red windows which obviously represents the Metro van that came back to UK with us from Cyprus, and two cars that pre-date my AS membership: a white Lada 1200 saloon that was my first Lada, in 1984 (converted from a partwork yellow police car); and a dark blue Focus to represent the 2003 Focus Ink we inherited from my stepdaughter and traded in for a PT Cruiser (from a pale blue model).  There's also a Vanguards mk1 Granada in yellow.  Now both the Granadas I've owned were blue, but I'm not convinced that this one will get painted.  I might just decide to buy a blue one, if I can find one at the right price (yeah, like that'll ever happen).

And they keep coming! Popped into Heron Foods of all places for some budget priced energy drinks and they now have Hot Wheels in stock. In amongst the fantasy and early 2019 stuff was this,

Happy with that for £1.49. Can't wait for the JRG version next year!
