Stuff from the last week or two:

IMG_0626.JPG.656169f57a3264a7ca54897c4d50c3cb.JPG

HWs all from Smyths, particularly pleased to get the Honda N600. Majorette from Sainsbury's.

IMG_0693.JPG.1b246cae582f6bdcf87496faa876cee6.JPG

From an autojumble. Good to get the truck complete with its top, and the Freeman Commuter thing seemed unusual to me in the colour. Husky Ferrari has no tyres but is tidy enough, is available if anyone fancies a resto/custom project.

IMG_0695.JPG.7ebcbc49cdac661115b1b7808fcc1599.JPG

I was fearing that I wouldn't find the HWs Civic but luckily the lady at Tescotainer was just about to put out a fresh box. Lamborghini for Master SL, making use of the 3 for 2 offer.

Top row all from a different branch of Sainsbury's, and it was a battle to purchase the Majorettes this time. Luckily I had someone helping me who worked something out. HWs Silvia looks good with the extra front end detailing compared to the version that came in a recent 5-pack:

Someone on FB found a Graffic Traffic Ferrari 308 recently, I've not got one so chose the best of various ones at the boot sale a few weeks ago to make my own. Looking online, originals had green/teal glazing, but for some reason I had in my head they were purple, so dyed the windows before realising my mistake!

It should probably have 5 arch wheels but they were a bit tatty. Another easy swap once a donor turns up

Black interior too! Why did they do that??

One other postal arrival, off the back of recent General Lee action

PXL_20260327_143056784.jpg.b8544dfb1a7c928c79e990969cbe5c10.jpg

Branded as Joyride/RC2 Brands, but definitely ERTL castings - their address in Iowa on the card too. Obviously a tie-in with the film going by Stiffler and his mates on the card. Blu-Tac on the back of the card and lots of giffer grime give away that this has been on display somewhere for a long time

PXL_20260327_143126918.jpg

PXL_20260327_143156191.jpg

*Edit to say, the General and Cadillac are ERTL, Daisy's Jeep is a Racing Champions! Typically, that one is quite a hard one to get in good condition as an ERTL

Essentials. The 1:43 is too damn expensive 😕

IMG_4293.jpeg.40d4631c54f434ea71967209c6af21fa.jpeg

Seller of this 1:18 one didn't put packing in the box. A wheel was off, the box was smashed and scuffed with blue paint from the mirrors...

And this...

I'll fix it eventually.

Managed to break a headlight cleaning my 1:18 A-Class too.

eBay showed me a cheap example of something long missing from my 1:43 car history...

But wait. this is shite in miniature...

I saw that too, but I've seen various Majorettes with the same treatment over the years - perhaps the French equivalent of Lesney Giftware?

@danthecapriman somehow I didn't see your analysis of the Torino and Caprice in 1/43 scale until just now, thanks for posting that!

Recently I bought some toys that would naturally fit in with some others I already had and decided to compare them

Here the silver 305 from @bunglebus next to a Hotwheels in blue and a Norev in Copper

IMG_4295.JPG.6e36008a31702b36d4e5c608191c5522.JPG

Opening doors on all of them

IMG_4296.JPG.6115404eca699c00dace00f6f6c93118.JPG

All pretty much the exact same size

IMG_4297.JPG.d15b9b63b056129f1fb5a98cbba77049.JPG

Next a Norev Fiesta with two Solidos

IMG_4298.JPG.9539a83b50219fc5a6e7ebe6872ba55b.JPG

Opening doors on Solido and rear hatch on Norev

French Dinky Simca with plastic Norev

Opening nothing, but still very nice

IMG_4301.JPG.fd27e17b9cc77eada013090fd9444e36.JPG

Most recent Gama Vauxhall/Opel was the Kadett in red, it looks great with the Astra GTEs

IMG_4305.JPG.13ff0a01d0ceb75da21bb9a39e7858c1.JPG

All have opening doors

IMG_4306.JPG.be3d29acd77df7c251e98624d8931c52.JPG

And rear hatches

Lastly the Corgi Citroen SM and Crescent ramp cleaned up very well

Funny enough I'd been watching another one up for £20 or so and not really wanting to hit the button. £6 with slightly faded packaging is a bit more like it. I enjoy seeing diecast in the nude, interesting that Matchbox decided to sell some this way. There are others in the series but none appeal quite as much as the '57

Aoshima Lexus SC400 in BMW Boston Green which I polished yesterday - it's a lovely colour when it has some natural light on it. Jeep Grand Cherokee wheels ( a popular bit of bling done by banger racers on larger Japanese cars with 5x114.3mm PCD) and tyres from an LS400. Outside chance I might be able to finish it this weekend, or certainly over Easter.

It’s in the later Forestry Commission livery. They used these as log haulers and tippers. The tippers were used for waste clearance from sites, and transporting hardcore etc for building and maintaining forest/logging roads and paths.

Front bumper is currently in paint and drying. I still need to paint the wheels but I’ve run out of primer!

That is why Ken likes his Tonka

Because it's a Tonka

Tonkas can take on dishwashers and survive.

Am I early enough to ask a question of our resident scale expert before he goes to the pub?

@flat4alfa

Marcel Van Cleemput in his Great Book Of Corgi states (as far as I'm aware) that all the newer larger models are actually 1/36

So is a Torino really much bigger than any of the other cars.

I've not been in a pub since November.  Not touched a drop since then either...

I'm a bit late to the conversation, but answering your question for some of the models above, and others in the '1:36 Corgi era' :

Capture.JPG.d00dd8b425ceb6e0248a57823666adbd.JPG

These are the figures I arrived at, from length and width measured with a gauge, then compared against the real thing figures.  I never bother with height, as suspensions vary and are typically wildly out. Likewise big spoilers (BMW M1) and extremes that look wrong such as bumper overriders on Acclaim.

The models having a notable 'oversize' look to them, such as Acclaim & BMW M1, is confirmed here. The big surprise (for me) is the AMC Pacer. It's undersize!  WHAT A BLOATER YOU ARE IN REAL LIFE. The shame of it.

That's great, thanks very much for sharing it. None of them are wildly different in scale like the earlier ones are though and it seems like the Torino is actually spot on (!). I wonder if the 1/36 Corgis are deliberately a bit too wide like the earlier ones are according to Van Cleemput, he doesn't say so, but then he also states all the large ones are 1/36.

Table updated to show width and length scaling as well.

The excitement is too much.  I yearn for the pub!

A few of the ex-Corgi Hot Wheels have surfaced recently, starting with this one

Not all we're altered at all other than paint, so sometimes telling which were made by who can be tricky if they're not in the packaging anymore.

Next up, a proper oddity. Finnish made plastic ovloV 244, supposedly a promotional piece
