Asda, yesterday; £6.47.

I can honestly say I wasn't impressed enough to buy it (or any of the others in stock) but it's a nice idea. I think.

Just found them myself, in Asda! Only one I couldn't find was the Mustang, on my way home now to take pics

Found this last Sunday at the local car boot sale.

Corgi Stagecoach, from which the horses had long since bolted.

Got a couple of cars I’ve been after for a while.
First one is a 61 Chevy Impala Sport Coupe, which was a version only available for 1961 before being discontinued.
The only model of it is part of the Fart & Spurious collection unfortunately but needs must.

IMG_8971.jpeg.f17d9cdc79f041e21e3543b960a30ea6.jpeg

The other being a 70 Chevy Nova. Again, part of the Fart & Spurious collection. There are other versions of this type Nova but this was the cheapest!

IMG_8973.jpeg.97d1832feb7b112f1e0914fbc174e940.jpeg

You lot probably know by now I’m not one for modifying cars and boy racer stuff and I really don’t like those stupid films! So, a little de-twatifying is in order!
The Nova has some modern style alloys which I don’t like on it so instead it’s got the wheels from my custom Vanishing Point Challenger. I was going to fit a set of Chevy badged steel wheels but the only tyres I’ve got to fit them are pickup size which look far too big. It’s never simple though as the axles were too narrow for the new wheels and a different diameter rod too so I dug out some old steel rod and made new ones with spacers to get the track right.

IMG_8977.jpeg.574708c3a5909302e08fae01a1420547.jpeg

Much improved imho, but being Fart & Spurious the cars have a lowered look. So I’ve added a spacer into the two body mounts to lift them up higher over the wheels. It’s not much but definitely does the job I think.

IMG_8978.jpeg.f64a99c27bf6c45efca095cad1b9ac36.jpeg

IMG_8979.jpeg.6f345685eab473ab59cdc8a7ecb2aff2.jpeg

Ultimately I’m planning to fully repaint this model as there’s far nicer colours available on this generation Nova than dull silver. I might remove the two hood air scoops too. For now though I’m happy with it.

Next up, the Impala for exactly the same treatment.
This suffered exactly the same problems as the Nova. Inappropriate wheels and too low. The fixes were exactly the same.

The replacement wheels came from a cheap broken Bond Partwork Ranchero pickup I got for spares, but definitely in keeping with the cars age. Raising the ride height was simply adding a couple of spacers under the body mounting pillars.

IMG_8983.jpeg.5d1666806a4986a348e3664fea3b51eb.jpeg

This one can stay as it is now. It’s a nice colour combo as it is and the tampo printing for the badges etc is too nice to lose. I have however removed the two side exit exhaust pipes too. Too classy a car for all that!

Overall a nice easy hours job.

IMG_8985.jpeg.868814158c3dc4d4ecbb5e00fbf4b965.jpeg

In between that I put some paint on a few others which can dry overnight now.
Vanishing Point Challenger, Tremors Jeep Gladiator and my grandads old Talbot Horizon.

IMG_8986.jpeg.2eda61b9396ea13c25375e732b903230.jpeg

Should anyone fancy, these are the wheels from the two F&F cars. Not my style but everyone has different tastes and they would work well on other custom projects so if you want them for whatever postage costs you can have them.

Yes folks, boxed Speed Strips set, and quite possibly unopened until the person I bought it from found it, probably in a charity shop going by this picture in their listing. How convenient that the price is covered by their thumb!

So good in fact I can't bring myself to open anything!

I should be more excited about this but yet again it was sent just wrapped in plastic, so is a bit squashed. It's starting to wear me down, I shouldn't have to ask every seller to use a small amount of common sense but that's what it's come to

@danthecapriman Im not too up on Nova model years but how about a replica of Axel Foley's one 'still drivin' that same crappy blue Chevy Nova' is how the line went in the film!

I have zero interest in F&F or modified cars, I much prefer patinated stock versions too.

😄 yep, same model year. 1970.

I hate those F&F films. Absolute poo imho. The American car resto mod ‘scene’ doesn’t do much for me really. It’s the ruination of many nice cars. A nicely aged original is pretty tough to beat in my opinion.

Excellent. Just got myself one. I remember saying that the e-type looked amazing, almost Matchbox like. Rare thing. I looked at the singular Majorette e-types and they don't look that nice.

I was going to strip and repaint it, but I noticed this has a brown plastic interior, and my other one has seats made of the glowing stuff

Always liked the MB Cortina, I don’t know how well it actually scales but it always looked the part to me.
Never had the glow windows version but had all the other UK made ones and a couple of the Bulgarian ones. One was a poo brown colour with something written on the side, the other was a metallic blue.

Commuter resto continues to frustrate me, the Auto Extreme primer goes on well and sands nicely, but it won't feather out like the Paint Factory stuff does. I can see an edge where I've sanded through, it's getting one more try before it goes in a jar of thinner/out of the window.

King Size Charger is coming along nicely though, base came up well after a citrus scrub and a whizz over with the brass wire wheel

Didn't get any bare metal shots but the paint has come out well I think PXL_20260228_153439502.jpg.78323f50f559b5f5ff7b8737d724b92c.jpg

Nice colour match to the original there @bunglebus 👍

Took a chance with a very old can of Ford Azure Blue from Halfords, one of my all time favourite car colours. Painted my Raleigh Burner in it when I was a teenager, in my friend's garage. His dad was not impressed with the layer of blue dust on everything

I've also been chucking paint on things:

1:24 Monogram 1970 Chevelle SS kits

1/24 scale Monogram 1970 Chevelles.

1:24 Monogram 1970 Chevelle SS kits

Gold one is going to be built as a subtle-ish standard example with period aftermarket wheels.

1:24 Monogram 1970 Chevelle SS kits

Green one will be a jacked-up late '70s street machine, with blower through the bonnet and sidepipes.

My paint recipe for both has been Halfords grey primer, Tamiya TS aerosols and Mr Super Clear Gloss. Polishing required, maybe tomorrow. Also got an Aoshima Lexus SC400 going through the paintshop this weekend, which I've done in BMW Boston Green.

Childhood memory unlocked! Christmas 1985 I was given a Matchbox Streak Racing set that included 2 'glow window' cars - one of those being a Cortina exactly the same as that one - red body & glow windows (IIRC the other car that came with the set was a green Porsche 911)
