are they all red? think i could get away with that slight flared arches, any other coloured ones ??

That particular one came from a magazine partwork collection, and usually come in a blister packet. As far as I know they are all the red colour.
I think there might possibly be another colour from another partwork but I can’t remember for sure.
There’s a US market Chevy Chevette in silver available too, but obviously it has the wrong nose end.

I use them as repaint-ers, and to convert the Latin American Chevy Marajo’s (Also Chevette based cars) into Vauxhall Chevette variants - estate, van and saloon.

I started this one last year and never finished it. I still haven’t found it either after moving house!

I had two little red beauties arrive today, firstly a Siku Ferrari GTO, not something I've found before

I've definitely found the Matchbox VW 1600 before, but not one in this condition, it's lovely

A bunglebox was delivered yesterday which contained some poorly but very cheap, 1/24 scale models.

One however was pretty spruce and very unusual for my collection in being a Spanish Guiloy. I have an (approximately) 1/18 Sierra XR4i made by them and it's awful so I was interested to see what this Aston Martin DB7 was all about.

First off was to disassemble it and clean everything.

Back together and not only is it in great condition, but it's a heavy and well-detailed model. I especially love the seats and the 'wood' stickers.

I was surprised to see just a 6 cylinder engine and when I read up on these cars, they are basically a Jaguar XJS underneath, including the engine. Didnt know that! Very Autoshite.

Therefore it's closely related to the similar looking Jaguar XJ Coupe.

I did a bit of research last night and found out my Corvette is a Graffic Traffic/Graffix after all, one of the unusual chrome versions that I can't seem to find much about online, I know I've seen pictures of them before though

Famous quote, Guiloy.

Hugely entertaining how they actually had a decent stab at modelling the Sierra's dashboard shape, but they just made it up as they went along when it came to the instruments and controls. Including what looks remarkably like a speedometer and odometer in the centre console.

Possibly a little extravagant on the flocking, too.

It's fascinating to learn how often Matchbox modified their tooling for specific releases. The smooth roof on the Model A is obviously to make it easier to draw on, but it does lead to a question: was this smooth roof ever used on any non-Graffic Traffic versions and are they rare variants?

Maybe, I'm just interested in finding white plastic donor bits, the A van roof is easy enough, and if I'd thought about it, the earlier Challenger could have been used if I couldn't clean mine up

Matchbox Superfast 1 Dodge Challenger

The bases are more of a problem so I'll probably paint them a slightly different white

I've got the Astra GTE 1.25 scale and Peugeot 205. The Astra isn't too bad, but the Peugeot, hmmm. Not exactly a great casting. Very round in places. It does have the earlier 'blocky' wheel trims.

No pics as they are stored away in my lock up.

There doesn't seem to be much happening in the way of new stock around these parts, had a look around Basildon earlier and there was nothing new on the pegs - however I happened to notice a couple of rows of Terra Treks right by the tills in B&M, almost didn't bother checking them out - but I'm glad I did

Chase car, nice. A casting I like too, so happy to have this. The Charity shops were similarly devoid of anything interesting, but I grabbed a MFM just for the sake of cataloguing them all, the carriage is either lurking in the loft or has already gone to pastures new

Another interesting one from Thursday's bunglebox was this Polistil 2cv

20250718_151436.jpg.038d8332fc9ef1cee22a749b6fcb2885.jpg

I went to London for the day on a Primary 7 school trip in 1991 and one of the places we visited was Harrods. We all had some spending money and I bought this exact model, which I was delighted with. It was eventually sold sometime between 2013-2015. I didn't realise this one still had its box and the car is absolutely mint.

Except, it isn't because somebody has completely ruined it by daubing horrible yellow paint down each side.

20250718_151442.jpg.71b5b5cb39e030117e1063c835b13648.jpg

2cvs never even came in this colour combination. I'm not sure what to do about this as I want it for displaying with my other MiB examples. It looks like enamel. I do have some leftover paint the same colour from the wee Fiat 500 I restored a few pages back and thats looking the most likely option but I'd rather keep it original. Models are never the same once you take off glued or fused on plastic parts.

Getting majority of it off is easy enough - it's in the door shuts etc it becomes very difficult to do without taking off the original colour.

What would you recommend as a removal fluid?

I could possibly get away with touching those residual spots in with a similar colour?

I'd probably try things like meths, white spirit, maybe a polish like T-Cut or metal polish, thinner as a last resort I'd say

I guess the yellow is enamel paint? If so maybe try a cotton bud dipped in nail varnish remover (ensure the nail varnish contains acetone)

I’ll have a look for them. I definitely have a few, but I can’t remember exactly where I put them. I’m away until Friday too so  it’ll be next weekend by the time I have a look.

Sometimes enamel comes off with white spirit and almost always with cellulose thinners, obviously keep that away from the windows and other plastic parts. I completely removed the red enamel from a pea green Corgi Mini Van with thinners, but it took the yellow paint off a Dinky Jensen so be careful!

Thanks Peter, I'll take off all parts that aren't glued or fused on before trying anything, although the fuel cap will definitely have to be removed.
