I remember that!

Buddy L Datsun 280-ZX

I could only get two of them working though

That weird green thing with the pull cord looks very familiar too - by strange Coincidence, also a Blue Box!

The second bargain 504 that @FakeConcern and @bunglebus alerted me to, ended up being the only bidder and got it for a tenner posted.

Not in quite as good condition as the blue one but it's still really nice.

Damaged Schabak Ford Orion in 1:43.
Tail light, windscreen and scuttle trim/wipers all missing but not bad otherwise. I should be able to cobble something together to fix the missing bits.
These don’t seem too common over here and are a bit pricey when they do show up, so this one will satisfy my need for one to strip & repaint to look like my old H reg 1.4GLX one.

Hey Dan,

I found a Schabak Escort in the loft, I got two of them off our own Amelia in a job lot and cobbled together one good one, this one is 'the remains'.

As can be seen,  the scuttle panel is missing from this one too, but the screen is there and it has both tail lights, I don't know if the hatch tail lights are the same as the saloon ones though. Yours for postage if it's any good to you.

Didn't go to the normally very good Saturday boot sale as it was raining. Sunday early one was about a third full, I bought these;

For those of you that remember my post on this parking lot/service station that was handed down to me 30 years ago,  it’s by a company called “blue box”. I found another on eBay, with the parts that are missing from mine.

So the tools came out.

IMG_5522.jpeg.7d30226c6ca05d841dd0bcef9aeb2042.jpeg

the good bits from the eBay one were added to my old one.

IMG_5523.jpeg.8196b154949b516e27979c73a3c7cc39.jpeg

some drilling was required as I think my father fitted it to this base.

IMG_5525.jpeg.81cd3395374f2e244fe65f6a14838be3.jpeg

End result is 99% complete. Just need to make new sponges for the car wash.

IMG_5527.jpeg.a03ab3eca7c7fcc05bf5002e659666ab.jpeg

the best thing about this? Passing it down to my son, who will also enjoy it for many years. What’s not to like? 😎

Thinking back I had a blue box car tuning thing, it came with a fold out cardboard road thing. They also did a copy of a matchbox garage which I still have.

Not the greatest haul I've ever come home with, but there are a couple of slightly left-field finds nonetheless

Majorette not-a-Dodge has had a good stomping, but those early capped wheels may come in handy for a resto

PXL_20250525_114941374.jpg.10f70a2fa8d3829658705a78564840f7.jpg

Golf was an eBay win - I'm not sure if this is the same casting that was re-used later, but the blackwall versions seem scarce

Not my cup of tea, but the engineering in this Majorette digger thingy is really nice, the arm is operated by the wheel on the side, body turns, stabilisers drop down etc. bucket has been previously repaired and can be done again, better. Anyone fancy it before I flog it on?

No idea.I saw the Drax decals,so guessed its  bond related.

I'm not sure if you've seen it but the later Golf MK2 issues still have '1989' on the base so it's the same casting.

Posted

I have one of those HW Mk2 Golf’s, it surprised me how scarce they are. You’d have thought they’d have sold millions of them and they’d be commonplace but it seems not.

This was a bit of a faff at times. The masking up was time consuming and quite tricky in a few places, but the Matchbox staff bus has finally left the spray booth!🥳

AEC RTs at hackney . these buses were used as staff transport in the early eighties

I’m pretty pleased with it actually! It’s not 100% perfect and there are a few spots I’ll have to touch up by hand or where raised detail has held the masking off the surface causing fuzzy edges but overall it’s come out well I think.
The orange & yellow stripes aren’t perfect widths either but it’s good enough for me!

Ill leave it to stand and harden off for a few days now, then I’ll add the transfers and varnish coat to seal them in.
After that, it’s rebuilding time with all those windows to refit.

Nice haul!

Ive never seen or heard of Luso before. Crapi looks cool though.
Your Spot-On P5 is nice too, I’ve got one here to restore now I’ve found the grill & bumpers I got from Mr Flowers for it. I must’ve packed them away going on two years ago and only just found them!
Yours looks good enough to put the new bumpers on and leave the paint as it is though?

I have a very nice P5 already, but this was cheap and not nice. It looks ok in the pics, but actually badly hand painted. As the grill and lamps are still there I may try making bumpers for it or make it into something like this P5B rally car

It’s weird really. Patience is definitely not one of my strong points normally! It honestly doesn’t take much for me to lose my temper with things.😄

But doing models is somehow different. I just don’t lose my cool at all really. Most odd.

That P5B rally car is from my old neck of the woods!  NFY is a Southport combination, late 1969 IIRC.

It must be I think. It’s weird how you can just sit down and get into something and totally relax. Then before you know it a few hours have gone by. Pretty much the opposite of what most of life is like nowadays.
